No. You can't install mods for Dying Light: The Beast on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, and as of 21 October 2026 Techland has announced nothing that would change that. Its own support site says the game "officially does not support external mods". The mods you find on Nexus Mods are unofficial PC files that a console has no way to load.
The confusion comes from Dying Light 2, which does have official mods on PS5, PS4 and Xbox through mod.io. The Beast never got that system. On console you can still use the game's own weapon mods, play the newer modes, redeem docket codes or start from a modded save, and that is what this guide walks through.
Does Dying Light: The Beast support mods at all?
Not officially, even on PC. Techland's support article on modding says mods "will corrupt your save files and, eventually, break the game", lists crashes, freezes and lower performance as side effects, and warns that mod leftovers can survive an uninstall. Its cleanup advice is to remove the game and the Steam or Epic launcher, then reinstall both on the same drive.
That hasn't stopped PC players. The Beast's section on Nexus Mods still gets new uploads every few days; October 2026 alone brought auto-loot, extra loadouts, craftable suppressed guns, Dying Light 1's grappling hook and slide kick, and a save editor, alongside older graphics and god-mode mods. None of it is official. There are no Techland mod tools, no mod.io page and no in-game mod menu for The Beast.
Why searches for Beast mods on PS5 show Dying Light 2
Search for console mods and most of what comes back is Dying Light 2: Stay Human. That game has offered community maps on PlayStation and Xbox since its Summertime Update in September 2023, and in June 2026 patch 1.28, called The Breach, opened mod.io maps and gameplay mods to PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox players through an in-game Maps and Mods menu. Techland's own launch modifiers included a third-person camera mod and a low-gravity mode.
None of that carries over. The Beast is a separate game with its own install, and Dying Light 2's mod.io content only runs inside Dying Light 2. When a video promises Dying Light mods on PS5, check which game is on screen before you get excited.

Will The Beast ever get console mods?
Nothing points that way. In a Discord AMA on 14 October 2026, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka said the studio is "not planning substantial new content" for The Beast and called it a complete game, while support for Dying Light 2 has been refocused on user-generated content. None of the coverage we read reported a plan to bring mods to The Beast. Techland had already cancelled the PS4 and Xbox One versions on 14 July 2026, which leaves PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
A future patch could still surprise everyone, but plan around what exists today: on console, The Beast is a vanilla game.

How PC players install Beast mods, and why consoles can't
On PC, most Beast mods are .pak archives named data2.pak to data7.pak that go into the ph_ft\source folder inside the game's install directory. Two mods that edit the same script file overwrite each other, so modders merge them with a community merger tool, and the Vortex mod manager stages files in ph_ft\mods for that merger to combine. Other mods are ASI plugins or replace a core file such as engine_pc.rpack, which you should back up before touching. Many mod pages state the game version they were built for, because each patch can break them.
Back up your saves before any of it. Techland lists them under userdata\<user id>\3008130\remote\out\ in your Steam folder, and under Documents\dying light the beast\out\storage for the Epic version.
None of this is possible on a console. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games are signed packages you cannot open, there is no folder to drop files into, and a PS5 won't even copy individual PS5 saves to a USB drive. PS5 mod menu videos for The Beast are either fake or depend on a jailbroken console, which is a different risk entirely. For trainers and Cheat Engine on PC, see our cheats and god mode guide.
Weapon mods: the mods every platform gets
Plenty of searches for Beast mods are really about the in-game weapon mods, and those work the same on PS5, Xbox and PC. Every regular melee weapon has up to three slots:
- Tip and shaft mods add an elemental effect such as shock, fire, freeze, bleed or toxic. Some trigger on critical hits; others charge up as you attack and are released by holding the button.
- Grip mods are passive and add damage or durability. Not every weapon has a grip slot.
Firearms and a few special legendaries, such as EXPCalibur II, can't be modded, but legendary melee weapons can; our legendary weapons guide lists them. Launch-era guides count 20 weapon mod blueprints across Castor Woods, some looted in Dark Zones and some sold by traders, and you upgrade mods at a workbench with crafting materials and Field Manual pages. Our best weapons guide covers which bases are worth the investment.

What PS5 and Xbox players can do instead
The Beast has changed a lot since its September 2025 launch, and much of the variety people want from mods now ships in the game itself:
- Restored Land. A free mode added in March 2026: a solo, persistent Castor Woods where killed enemies stay dead, loot doesn't respawn and clearing an area restores it to its pre-outbreak look, with two difficulty choices and an optional one-life run.
- Nightmare difficulty. Added in December 2025: stronger, faster enemies, Volatiles in some Dark Zones by day, hunger and a draining flashlight, plus the Alpha Volatile, which tracks you by scent and ignores UV light.
- New Game+ and Legend Levels. Since the November 2025 update, XP past level 15 becomes Legend XP, and Legend Levels unlock 22 weapons, two outfits and legendary vehicle skins. Our New Game+ guide covers the tiers and rewards.
- Docket codes. Free, level-matched weapons redeemed through Techland's website and claimed from any stash.
- Story difficulty. The relaxed option, with weaker enemies and no XP lost when you die.

Modded saves: the closest thing to mods on PS5
A modded save isn't a mod. It is an ordinary save whose values have been edited, so the console loads it like any other progress file, and that makes it the one way PS5 players get mod-style power. Our One-Shot / Immortality Starter Save starts you at Legend Level 300 with boosted, resettable Legend skills, god mode where only explosions and grabs can kill you, one-shot damage on almost every iconic weapon, and infinite ammo, consumables and Beast Mode. On PS5 it is applied to your profile through account sharing; on PC it arrives as a file with install steps.
A few honest caveats. You need to own the game, you should back up your current progress, and after any account-sharing service you should change your password and keep two-step verification on. Keep god mode out of other people's co-op sessions. Xbox players can't get modded saves from us; our in-game transfers for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, plus the All Unlocked save for PS5 and PC, are on our Dying Light page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you mod Dying Light: The Beast on PS5?
No. The PS5 version has no mod support, no mod.io integration and no way to load files from Nexus Mods. The closest options are the in-game weapon mods and a modded save applied to your profile.
Does Dying Light: The Beast have mods on Xbox?
No. Xbox Series X|S is in the same position as PS5, and the Xbox One version was cancelled in July 2026, so there is no last-gen route either.
How do you install mods for Dying Light: The Beast on PC?
Most mods are .pak files you copy into the ph_ft\source folder in the game's install directory, each with a free number from data2 to data7. Back up your saves first, merge mods that touch the same files, and expect game updates to break them.
Can you play co-op with mods in Dying Light: The Beast?
Techland doesn't document it, because it doesn't support mods at all. Some mod pages offer separate multiplayer versions, and the safe assumption is that everyone in the session needs the same files.
Do Dying Light 2 mods work in The Beast?
No. Dying Light 2's mod.io maps and mods, including The Breach content, only run inside Dying Light 2. The Beast is a separate game without that system.
Will Techland add mod support to The Beast?
There is no sign of it. Techland's support site still says the game does not support external mods, and on 14 October 2026 its CEO said no substantial new content is planned.
