On August 16, 2026, Epic Games and Disney did something Fortnite had never done before: they locked a cosmetic behind a real-world theme park ride. The Forsworn Trooper Outfit is not in the Item Shop, it is not a Battle Pass tier, and no in-game quest awards it. The only sanctioned way to earn it is to physically board Star Wars: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at a Disney park in California or Florida. This guide covers how the unlock actually works, what you receive, the reward every player worldwide can still claim for free, and the two pieces of misinformation currently circulating about where this outfit came from.
What the Forsworn Trooper actually is
The Forsworn Trooper is a Star Wars Series outfit introduced in Chapter 7 Season 3. It is not a named film character, which trips up a lot of the coverage. Its in-game description reads: “This salvaged suit of Imperial Remnant stormtrooper armor has been appropriated by the Veta Syndicate.” Visually it is a scavenger build — battered stormtrooper plating, a hood pulled over the helmet, and goggles, closer to a smuggler wearing looted armour than to any Imperial soldier you have seen on screen.
That distinction matters when you are searching for it. Fortnite has several Star Wars troopers, and at least one other Disney-linked reward that people constantly mix up with this one. Getting the wrong one costs you a trip.
The promotion: Star Wars: Smuggler’s Gambit
The outfit arrived as part of Star Wars: Smuggler’s Gambit, a Disney Parks and Epic Games tie-in built around the Smugglers Run attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It launched on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and taking part costs nothing beyond valid park admission — there is no separate upcharge, no add-on ticket, and no V-Bucks involved at any point.
Two locations have the ride: Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. That is the entire list. We will come back to why that single fact decides whether this outfit is realistically obtainable for you.

How the unlock works, step by step
Before you ride
Do the account work at home, not in the queue. You need a MyDisney account and an Epic Games account, and the two must be linked before your ride registers. Players under 18 need parental permission to complete the link, which is the single most common reason a family group has one person miss out.
Once linked, open the Disneyland app or the My Disney Experience app, sign in with the same MyDisney account, and accept Hondo Ohnaka’s mission. This is the step that arms the reward; riding without accepting it first does nothing.
At the attraction
Keep your phone secured on your person, with Bluetooth and location permissions enabled. The attraction detects your participation through the app, so a phone in a locker or with location switched off will not register. Then simply ride Smugglers Run as normal.
Afterwards you either receive a prompt confirming the reward against your linked accounts, or — if something about your accounts was not eligible at ride time — a redemption code arrives by email at the address attached to your MyDisney account. That emailed code is a transferable item, and it is the reason a secondary market for this outfit exists at all.
| Reward | How it is earned | Park visit needed? | Available to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forsworn Trooper Outfit | Ride Smugglers Run with accounts linked | Yes | Anaheim and Orlando visitors only |
| The Gambit loading screen | Complete a quest on the Smugglers Gambit island | No | Everyone, worldwide |
| Carbonite Fishstick Back Bling | Link Epic to MyDisney (separate, earlier offer) | No | Everyone, until Oct 31 2026 |
| Item Shop troopers | Buy with V-Bucks when they rotate in | No | Everyone, when in shop |

What every player can still get for free
The park exclusive is only one part of Smuggler’s Gambit, and the rest of it is open to everyone. Disney Games and Digital Entertainment built a Fortnite island with Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering — Mersa Veta Station on the planet Ord Ryla, island code 7474-2686-2725. Anyone can load it from anywhere in the world.
Completing a quest on that island awards The Gambit loading screen, no park admission required. If you rode the attraction, your ride score also converts into credits on the island, so the two halves of the promotion talk to each other. It is a genuinely generous piece of design, and it means a player in Manchester or Manila is not locked out of the event entirely — only out of the outfit.
Why most of the world cannot unlock the outfit
Smugglers Run exists in exactly two places on Earth. Disneyland Paris does not have the attraction, and neither do the Tokyo, Shanghai or Hong Kong resorts. For players across Europe, the UK, Asia, South America, Africa and Australia there is no official route to the Forsworn Trooper at all — not a harder route, not a slower one, none.
Even inside the United States the maths is unforgiving. Single-day park admission runs roughly $104 to $224 depending on date and park, before travel, parking or accommodation. A local can reasonably treat this as a cheap unlock. Anyone flying in is looking at a four-figure total for one cosmetic.
That gap is why the emailed redemption codes circulate, and why a handful of stores list the outfit directly — ours included, on the Fortnite Forsworn Trooper outfit page. If you are weighing that against a plane ticket, our companion piece on how rare the Forsworn Trooper is and what it is actually worth breaks the numbers down properly, including what to check before buying a code from anyone.
Two things people keep getting wrong
It is not a Star Wars: Zero Company promotion. An early datamine pulled the cosmetics correctly but attributed them to an Epic Games Store pre-order bonus for Bit Reactor’s tactics game, largely because filenames were encrypted and the two releases landed close together. That attribution has since been corrected — the cosmetics belong to Smuggler’s Gambit. Several articles still carry the wrong version, so ignore any guide telling you to pre-order a different game.
It is not the account-linking reward. Linking Epic to MyDisney on its own grants the Carbonite Fishstick Back Bling, a separate and earlier offer that runs until October 31, 2026. Linking is a prerequisite for the Forsworn Trooper, not the trigger. If a guide tells you the outfit is free for linking your accounts, it is describing a different reward.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Forsworn Trooper still available?
Yes. Smuggler’s Gambit launched on August 16, 2026 and neither Disney nor Epic has announced an end date, so the ride reward appears to be ongoing. The constraint is not time, it is geography — you still have to reach Anaheim or Orlando to earn it the sanctioned way.
Can I get the Forsworn Trooper in Europe or the UK?
Not officially. Disneyland Paris has no Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction, and the reward is tied to riding it. European and UK players can still claim The Gambit loading screen from the Smugglers Gambit island for free, but the outfit itself has no route outside the two US parks.
Do I need to buy anything extra in the Disney app?
No. Valid park admission covers it. There is no upcharge, no separate ticket and no in-app purchase — you accept Hondo Ohnaka’s mission, ride, and the reward follows. The only requirement that costs anything is getting through the gate.
What happens if my accounts were not linked when I rode?
You should receive a redemption code by email at the address on your MyDisney account. Check spam before assuming it failed. Because that code is transferable, it is also what people resell — which is worth understanding before you buy one, as we cover in our rarity and value guide.
