Phantom Blade Zero on Xbox and Game Pass: Where It Stands

Phantom Blade Zero is not on Xbox Series X|S and is not included in Game Pass on console or PC; as of November 2026 it is sold only for PS5 and for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The release-date trailer said the game would not reach other consoles until at least 12 months after launch, which points to late October 2027 at the earliest, and S-GAME has not announced an Xbox version at all. Xbox owners who want to play now need a PS5, a capable PC or a cloud service that streams a PC copy they own.

We checked this against the PlayStation Store and Steam listings, a search of the Xbox store, S-GAME's 2024 statement on X as reported by Push Square, Beebom's platform explainer, MP1st's report on the release-date trailer, NVIDIA's GeForce NOW announcement and Game8's platform pages in November 2026.

The Short Answer: PS5 and PC Only

The game launched on 29 October 2026 (28 October in the US and some other regions) for PlayStation 5 and Windows PC. The PlayStation Store lists it as a one-player PS5 game that is PS5 Pro Enhanced, while NVIDIA's launch article confirms the PC release on Steam and the Epic Games Store. S-GAME's English support FAQ also explains how to repair files in the WeGame and TapTap PC clients, which matters mainly to players in China.

There is nothing to buy on the Xbox side. A search of the Xbox store on 2 November 2026 for the game's name returned other titles with "Phantom" in the name but no Phantom Blade Zero listing, and Game8's platform tracker lists Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Mac and mobile as not announced. The PS5 Pro is the only console upgrade path with dedicated support.

The 12-Month Console Window

The clearest statement on timing came from the release-date trailer shown in December 2025. MP1st reported that it ended with a note reading "Also available on PC. Not available on other consoles until at least 12 months after release date." At the time the game was dated for 9 September 2026; S-GAME later announced a 50-day delay to 29 October 2026, and Game8 counts the window from the final launch, which means no other console version before 29 October 2027.

Read the wording carefully. "At least 12 months" sets a floor, not a date. It does not promise an Xbox version afterward, it does not say one is in development, and it would not stop S-GAME from waiting longer. Any article that gives you an Xbox release date right now is guessing.

The PlayStation connection goes back to the start. S-GAME revealed the game at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, when Soulframe Liang introduced it on the PlayStation Blog as a new PlayStation 5 game, and the August 2026 gameplay deep dive was a dedicated PlayStation State of Play.

What S-GAME Has Said About Xbox

S-GAME's clearest direct comment on Xbox dates back to August 2024. After a Brazilian outlet reported that an unnamed S-GAME employee at ChinaJoy had said nobody needs Xbox, the studio posted on X on 4 August 2024 that the remark did not represent its values or culture, that it wants the game to be accessible to everyone, and that it had "not ruled out any platforms." Push Square noted at the time that S-GAME had earlier said there was no exclusivity deal with Sony.

Nothing official has changed since. Beebom's 28 October 2026 explainer found no timeline from S-GAME for an Xbox release, and Game8's Xbox page says the same while pointing to the 12-month console window. So the honest summary is that an Xbox version is possible after that window, unannounced, and unscheduled. For buyers, Game8's Xbox page points to the PlayStation Store, Steam and the Epic Games Store, the same storefronts named in NVIDIA's launch article and on the PlayStation listing.

Is It on Game Pass, Console or PC?

No. Because there is no Xbox version, the game cannot be in the console Game Pass library, and the PC version is not on PC Game Pass either. Game8 reports that S-GAME has only announced Steam and the Epic Games Store as its global PC storefronts and that no Game Pass plans have been announced for the future. Even an eventual Xbox release would not automatically put the game on Game Pass, since that depends on a separate deal nobody has mentioned.

For now, playing on PC means buying the game outright. Our editions guide compares the Standard and Digital Deluxe versions and notes that Epic Games Store purchases also come with Fortnite cosmetics, which may tip the choice for Xbox owners who already play Fortnite with an Epic account.

How Xbox Owners Can Play It Today

If you only own an Xbox, there are three realistic routes, each with its own catch:

  • A gaming PC. The minimum tier is a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD for 1080p at 30 fps with upscaling; our PC requirements guide covers storage, drivers and settings in detail.
  • GeForce NOW. NVIDIA added the Steam version to its cloud service at launch, so you can stream a copy you own on Steam to PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, browsers and compatible TVs. NVIDIA says its Ultimate tier provides GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud, and it sells day passes for the Performance and Ultimate tiers if you want to test the stream before committing.
  • A PS5. It is the only console version, it has dedicated PS5 Pro enhancements, and PlayStation Plus Premium members can also stream it through cloud streaming on PS5 and PlayStation Portal.

Your Xbox controller is not wasted on PC. Steam lists full controller support, and one of the first community mods for the PC version is a Souls-style button layout made specifically for Xbox-style pads. Our guide to the early PC mods covers what those community tweaks change and the risks of installing them.

PS5 or PC: Picking a Platform if You Are Coming From Xbox

If you are choosing between buying a PS5 and building or upgrading a PC, the two versions differ in ways that matter to Xbox players in particular. The content itself is identical, so this is about comfort, cost and how you like to play.

  • Achievements versus trophies. The Steam version lists 66 achievements, while the PS5 trophy list has 36, according to PowerPyx's trophy guide. Neither touches your Gamerscore, but achievement hunters may enjoy the longer Steam list.
  • Controller feel. The PS5 version supports DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and 3D audio. On PC, S-GAME recommends a wired USB connection for full DualSense haptics, and Xbox pads work through Steam's controller support.
  • Visual ceiling. Path tracing is a PC exclusive developed with NVIDIA, and S-GAME says PC players also get ultrawide support beyond 3:1 and more flexible remapping than the three button layouts offered on PS5.
  • Setup effort. The PS5 install is about 135 GB according to Game8. On PC you need an SSD, at least 160 GB of free space during installs, and possibly the driver rollback S-GAME recommended at launch.
  • Mods. Community mods have so far appeared only for the PC version, ranging from camera tweaks to difficulty tuners.

Whichever you choose, you get the same chapters, bosses and four difficulty settings, and our length guide breaks down how long all of that takes to finish.

Cross-Play, Cross-Save and Your Progress

Phantom Blade Zero is strictly single-player, so there is no cross-play to worry about; our multiplayer explainer covers why. Cross-progression is a different matter. Game8 reports that no cross-progression between PS5 and PC has been announced, so a save made on one platform stays there. Steam Cloud syncs saves between PCs on the same Steam account, and PS5 owners can use PlayStation Plus cloud storage between consoles.

That has a practical consequence if you are tempted to start on PC and wait for an Xbox port: there is no announced way to carry that progress over. Treat your first platform as your home for this game, and pick it based on what you can play today rather than on a version that may or may not exist in 2027.

Playing on PS5 or PC Instead?

We will be straight about this one: the store's Phantom Blade Zero mega modded save will not help on Xbox, because its listing says it covers PS5 and PC only and is not available for Xbox or Nintendo Switch 2. If you end up on one of those two platforms instead, it gives you the full weapon roster from the first minute, a currency balance of 99,999,999 and 9,999 skill points to spend, with four separate starting slots that each begin at the start of the game.

A copy of the game is still required, because the listing sells the save alone, and trophies are a separate service. The rest of what the store offers for the game is gathered on the Phantom Blade Zero hub.
