As of 21 October 2026 we cannot confirm any duplication glitch that works on the current version of Dying Light: The Beast, update 1.7 from 17 September 2026. None of Techland's published patch notes names an item-duplication fix, so there is no official "patched" date either. What exists is a trail of launch-week methods, videos claiming "after patch" dupes up to April 2026, and newer "farming glitch" uploads, several from channels that advertise modded items or paid services.
So the honest answer comes in two parts: what the dupes were and why we would not build a session around them now, then the legit routes that actually fill a crafting inventory, including where Gun Parts come from.
Does the duplication glitch still work in 2026?
Here is the timeline we could piece together from guides, patch notes and video upload dates:
- September 2025, launch week: GameRant, Sportskeeda and Fandomwire all covered a duplication glitch within days of release, GameRant and Sportskeeda describing the co-op version, and solo versions were on YouTube by 24 September.
- Late October 2025: a Reddit thread on r/dyinglight (a weak signal, but telling) was already asking which duplication glitches still worked. Patch 1.3 on 30 October listed "corrected crafting and inventory data inconsistencies" without saying more.
- February to April 2026: YouTube titles still promised solo dupes "unpatched" or "after patch"; the latest we found is dated 17 April 2026, before hotfixes 1.6.3 and 1.6.4.
- September and October 2026: the newest uploads we found pitch "AFK" and "farming" glitches rather than dupes, and the channels making the boldest claims also advertise modded drops, save bots or paid services.
None of that proves a method is dead, and we could not test one on 1.7 for this article. If you find a "working dupe" video, check its upload date against 17 September 2026 before you spend an evening on it.
How the co-op and solo dupes worked
Both known methods abused dropping items:
- Co-op pickup dupe. One player drops an item and both players grab it at the same moment, so both end up with a copy. GameRant listed ammo, healing items, resources and weapons as duplicable. Co-op itself opens after the prologue, once you reach the Monastery safe house.
- Solo "quick join" dupe. Guides from late September 2025 had you start a co-op quick join, cut your internet connection while it loaded and drop items during the black screen, leaving a copy on the ground while the original stayed in your inventory. Those guides claimed it on PC and PS5.
Treat both as history rather than instructions until someone shows them working on 1.7.

Risks worth knowing before you try one
- Your save. Pulling the connection in the middle of a load is exactly the kind of thing that can corrupt or roll back a save. On PC, copy your save folder first; on PS5, upload the save to cloud storage if you have PS Plus.
- Other people's sessions. The co-op version needs a partner. Ask first; it is their world as well as yours.
- "Dupe tools" on PC. Anything you have to download to duplicate items is really a trainer or save editor under another name, and unofficial executables passed around in comment sections are a common way to pick up malware.
Console players cannot run trainers at all, so on PS5 and Xbox a dupe is either a genuine in-game glitch or nothing. Our cheats and god mode guide covers what PC trainers can and cannot do, and the PS5 mods guide covers what console players can actually change.
Where each crafting material comes from
The game already hints at where each part spawns if you hover over it in your inventory, as ScreenRant points out, but it skips the fastest sources. Every guide we checked agrees on one rule: each Dark Zone type is stocked with a family of materials, so pick the building that matches the part you are short of.
| Materials | Rarity | Best source | Example location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Batteries, Electrical Parts, Wiring | Batteries Rare, others Common | Electrical store Dark Zones (plug icon on the map), electrical devices | Mega Store America, Old Town |
| Scraps, Weights, Blades | Common | Hardware and tool store Dark Zones, toolboxes, workbenches; dismantling weapons also gives Scraps | Hardware Store near Old Town's train station |
| Oxidizers, Pigments, Resin, Cleaning Supplies | Oxidizers and Cleaning Supplies Rare | Pharmacy Dark Zones, house bathrooms; Cleaning Supplies also in kitchens | Pharmacy near Hardwood Art Gallery, Old Town |
| Alcohol, Cans | Common | General store Dark Zones, kitchens, bottles, enemy loot | Nate Market near the Cement Gardens, Villa Area |
| Rags, Leather, Feathers | Common | Vanity store Dark Zones and bodies; Feathers also at watchtowers and chicken coops | Vanity store next to Old Town's Town Hall |
| Honey, Lavender, Chamomile, Cordyceps, Poppy | Cordyceps and Poppy Rare | Groves, rooftop gardens, cliffsides | Exile's Cave shop sells Lavender and Chamomile |
| Fuel | Epic | Fuel cans, vehicle tanks, gas stations | Large trucks in the northern industrial area |
| Gun Parts | Epic | Dismantling looted guns; vendors | Guns from human enemies and military convoys |
A legit Old Town materials loop
Old Town packs most of those stores into one district, so a single loop covers the bulk of a crafting shopping list:
- Start at the Mega Store America for Batteries, Wiring and Electrical Parts.
- Clear the Hardware Store near the train station for Scraps, Weights and Blades.
- Hit a pharmacy, such as the one near Hardwood Art Gallery, for Oxidizers, Pigments, Resin and Cleaning Supplies.
- Finish at the vanity store beside the Town Hall for Rags and Leather, then check the small Town Hall convoy for ammo and any guns to break down.
Dark Zones earn their loot: the in-game description of the Hardware Store calls it a building "claimed by numerous infected," so go in with a plan, a melee weapon in good repair and an exit. Alcohol and Cans are the gap in this loop; the Nate Market general store in the Villa Area covers both, and the chicken coops around the farmhouses toward the Villa Area are a good Feather source on the way.

Where to find Gun Parts
Gun Parts are rated Epic and go into crafting and enhancing firearms. TheGamer and ScreenRant agree on the source: loot guns from human enemies and dismantle them, and buy Gun Parts from vendors when you have spare cash. ScreenRant singles out weapons taken from military convoys as the best supply.
- Convoys. AllThings counts nine convoy sites, four big and five small, including City Bridge in north Old Town, the Town Hall convoy in central Old Town and the Island Tunnel by the Mental Asylum. The rear hatch needs a Convoy Access Card dropped by nearby infected in military gear, side lockers open with a lockpick, and the sites restock after some in-game time.
- Human patrols. Any armed human you kill leaves a gun to break down. One Reddit thread (a weak signal) favours the Island Tunnel convoy because the Baron's men spawn there so often.
- Vendors. Patch 1.3 added "a new assortment to vendors with more craft parts towards the end of the game," so check late-game traders before a long grind.
Gun-heavy builds burn through Gun Parts fastest, and ammo with them. Our legendary weapons guide covers which guns are worth upgrading, and the ammo guide covers keeping them fed.

Small changes that stretch your materials
- Know what patch 1.3 changed. Techland "increased the amount of oxidizers looted" and "reduced the cost of wirings used for weapons crafting and upgrading," so launch-week advice about both is out of date.
- Farm in the standard game. In Restored Land, looted items are not replaced and shops offer reduced stock at higher prices, so a materials run there only ever shrinks the pool.
- Buy what is miserable to find. Lavender and Chamomile are easier to buy at the Exile's Cave shop than to spot in the wild, and large trucks are a better Fuel bet than cars, which often turn up empty.
- Dismantle what you will not use. Breaking down spare weapons returns Scraps, which every weapon repair costs.
If you would rather skip the loop entirely, our 9,999 crafting resource transfer covers every major material on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, and the rest of our Beast services are on the Dying Light hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Dying Light: The Beast duplication glitch patched?
Not officially, but it is not confirmed working either. No Techland patch note names an item-duplication fix, and as of 21 October 2026 we found no reliable confirmation of a dupe on update 1.7.
How do you duplicate items in Dying Light: The Beast?
At launch, either by dropping an item in co-op and having both players pick it up at once, or with a solo quick-join trick that involved cutting your connection while loading. Both date from September 2025, and neither is verified on 1.7.
Does the dupe glitch work on PS5 or Xbox?
Launch-era guides showed the solo method on PC and PS5, and the co-op method needed no PC tools. Nothing we found confirms either one on any platform after update 1.7.
Where do you find Gun Parts in Dying Light: The Beast?
Dismantle guns you loot from human enemies or find in military convoys, and buy them from vendors. Patch 1.3 added more craft parts to late-game vendor stock.
What is the best crafting materials farm?
Match the Dark Zone to the material: electrical stores for Batteries and Wiring, pharmacies for Oxidizers and Resin, hardware stores for Scraps and Weights, and general stores for Alcohol and Cans. Old Town has most of them close together.
Do materials respawn in Restored Land?
No. In Restored Land looted items are not replaced and shops have reduced stock at higher prices, so farm materials in the standard game instead.
