Since Monument of Triumph, Iron Banner in Destiny 2 runs every four weeks, starting at one Tuesday weekly reset and ending at the next. The last run we could confirm was September 22 to 29, 2026, the third since the update launched; if Bungie's four-week cadence holds, that puts later runs on October 20 and November 17, 2026, with December 15 after that. Bungie has not posted individual dates since its weekly blog went on hiatus in the summer, so treat those as projections and confirm in the Crucible Ops screen before you plan around them.
We checked this against Bungie's Monument of Triumph article and Update 9.7.0 patch notes, Bungie Help's Iron Banner guide, ritual reset guide and Monument of Triumph support guide, and the Blueberries Iron Banner tracker in November 2026.
How the Four-Week Cadence Works
Monument of Triumph moved the Crucible to what Bungie called a more predictable cadence. Iron Banner now returns every four weeks, and the Monument of Triumph support guide on Bungie Help specifies that each run lasts from the weekly reset to the following reset. Trials of Osiris still runs every weekend from Friday to Tuesday, except on Iron Banner weeks, when it is switched off so players focus on Lord Saladin's event.

During an Iron Banner week, the regular Control playlist is replaced by Iron Banner Control, and one additional Iron Banner mode is available alongside it. The other Iron Banner variants, Eruption, Fortress and Tribute, sit in the 6v6 rotator within Crucible Ops, so you may see them outside event weeks too.
Lord Saladin is easy to find. Update 9.7.0 moved the Iron Banner vendor back to his original spot above Lord Shaxx in the Tower Courtyard, where he appears only while the event is active. If he is missing during an Iron Banner week, Bungie Help suggests returning to orbit and relaunching the Tower.
Projected Dates for the Rest of 2026
Bungie used to announce each Iron Banner in its This Week in Destiny posts, but those went on hiatus a few weeks after Monument of Triumph launched, and Bungie's October 2026 Community Update was a studio update rather than an event calendar. The most recent dated run we found is the one Blueberries tracked from September 22 to September 29, 2026, which it described as the third Iron Banner since Monument of Triumph.
| Start (weekly reset) | End (weekly reset) | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday, September 22, 2026 | Tuesday, September 29, 2026 | Confirmed by Blueberries tracker |
| Tuesday, October 20, 2026 | Tuesday, October 27, 2026 | Projected from cadence |
| Tuesday, November 17, 2026 | Tuesday, November 24, 2026 | Projected from cadence |
| Tuesday, December 15, 2026 | Tuesday, December 22, 2026 | Projected from cadence |
Every window starts and ends at the weekly reset, which Bungie Help lists at 17:00 UTC. In Pacific time that is 10:00 AM during daylight saving time and 9:00 AM from November to March, so the November and December windows open at 9:00 AM Pacific. If an event slips or Bungie adjusts the rotation, the in-game Crucible Ops screen and the Destiny Announcements screen in orbit will show it before any guide does.
Why only projections? Bungie's own Iron Banner help article tells players to look for upcoming dates in its news posts, and with no weekly blog running, there is no official calendar to point to. The four-week rule comes straight from Bungie, and the September run lines up with it, so the projected dates are a reasonable plan. Still, a maintenance window, a hotfix or a special event could shift a week, so check the game on the Tuesday itself rather than booking time off around a date in a table.
A practical tip: when Trials of Osiris does not appear on a Friday, that is a strong sign you are in an Iron Banner week, because Bungie pulls Trials whenever Iron Banner is live.
Modes, Matchmaking and Power
Iron Banner Control is one of only two playlists, alongside regular Control, that use skill for matchmaking. Bungie added Outlier Protection to both, which automatically reverts to open skill matchmaking if queue times are taking too long, so very strong or very new players are not stuck waiting forever.

Bungie Help describes Iron Banner as a week-long Crucible event whose playlist sits in the Crucible node of the Director. Blueberries summarizes it as a 6v6 PvP event with modes that rotate between runs, including Rift, Eruption, Control and Fortress. Because the second mode changes, check which one is live at the start of each week; Eruption and Fortress reward very different playstyles from Control.
Crossplay matters here as in any Crucible playlist. Console and PC players are kept in separate pools unless a console player joins a PC fireteam, in which case the whole team goes into the PC pool. Our crossplay guide explains how those pools and invites work.
Rewards, Focusing and Armor Sets
Monument of Triumph changed the loot more than the mode. MVP and additional loot rewards now drop an Iron Banner weapon, and Saladin's focusing covers every tiered Iron Banner item, including gear from The Edge of Fate, Ash and Iron and Renegades. Focusing costs Iron Banner Ciphers, which you earn from completing Iron Banner matches. Iron Banner keeps its Event Card, and unlike most Tower vendors it did not get a reputation rank reward track back.
According to Blueberries, the event's Reward Shop sells Iron Banner weapons and engrams up to Tier 4 depending on your Guardian Rank, and the Event Home screen offers daily challenges, a weekly challenge, an exclusive emblem and holofoil weapons. For Tier 5 weapons, rely on drops from strong matches and on upgrading lower-tier copies, which our god roll guide covers.
That split follows Bungie's general focusing rule for the Tower in Monument of Triumph: focused weapons come out at Tier 3 or Tier 4 depending on your Power, because any weapon can be upgraded later, while focused armor can reach Tier 5 because armor cannot be upgraded. In practice, spend Ciphers on armor pieces in the archetype you need and on weapons whose perks you want, then upgrade the weapon afterwards.
Two armor sets come from Iron Banner. Iron Panoply's two-piece perk adds stability and handling as your health drops and heals you on weapon final blows while your shields are down, and its four-piece perk adds ammo generation, flinch resistance and damage resistance after your shields break. Iron Battalion, added with Monument of Triumph, boosts Primary weapon handling, reload and damage against non-boss combatants, and refunds Super energy for final blows during your Super. Update 9.7.0.3 fixed an issue that stopped players focusing Iron Panoply if they had not earned it in past seasons. Our set bonus guide compares them with other PvP sets.
Iron Battalion's two-piece perk is worth building around because its bonus damage against non-boss combatants scales with your Weapons stat. Armor archetypes with Weapons as a primary stat, such as Gunner or the newer Powerhouse, push that number up while you collect the set, and the same pieces carry over well into PvE playlists. Our builds guide explains how the Weapons stat interacts with other stat targets.
Who Can Play Iron Banner
Iron Banner is open to every Destiny 2 player regardless of expansion ownership. To join, Bungie Help lists three steps: complete the quest "A Guardian Rises" to unlock the Tower, speak with Lord Shaxx and complete the "Light Reforged" quest, then speak with Lord Saladin in the Tower Courtyard.
Free-to-play accounts must pass SMS verification before they can enter Iron Banner, and Bungie's support guide notes that a platform subscription may also be required for this and other matchmade playlists. Trials of Osiris is more restrictive on paper, since it is limited to owners of the two Year of Prophecy expansions or The Collection and also checks your phone number, but it is switched off during Iron Banner weeks anyway.
Engrams carry over between events. Bungie Help says Iron Banner engrams left unspent in Saladin's inventory remain usable at the next Iron Banner, though older guidance tied that to seasons; with seasons over, spending them during the week is the simplest way to avoid surprises.
Making the Most of an Iron Banner Week
Iron Banner weeks are short, so a little planning goes a long way. On the first day, check which second mode is live, look at the Event Home challenges and decide which weapon you want to focus with your Ciphers. Then spread your matches across the week so you can clear each day's challenges as they unlock.
- Claim the daily challenges each day and the weekly challenge before the next reset.
- Spend Iron Banner Ciphers on focusing the specific weapon or armor piece you want.
- Equip Iron Panoply or Iron Battalion pieces if their perks fit your loadout.
- Push for MVP-level performances, since MVP and additional loot drop Iron Banner weapons.
- Spend leftover engrams before the event ends.
Iron Banner is also one of the listed sources of Strange Coins, which makes event weeks a good time to stock up for Xûr; our Strange Coin guide covers the other sources.
Showing Up Geared
Iron Banner is tough on new or under-equipped characters, because skill-based Control and veteran fireteams punish missing weapons and builds. If you would rather start with a character that already has strong PvP gear, the store's Destiny 2 hub features accounts from independent sellers, often listing Power, titles and endgame weapons, and the selection changes daily. Keep in mind that Bungie's Terms of Use treat accounts as licensed content that players may not sell, trade or transfer without Bungie's specific permission.
