For most squads, the best boosters in Helldivers 2 are Vitality Enhancement, Hellpod Space Optimization, Stamina Enhancement and Increased Reinforcement Budget, and all four sit in the free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond. Swap in Muscle Enhancement on bug, snow and swamp planets, Expert Extraction Pilot for Blitz missions, and Sample Scanner or Sample Extricator when the goal is ship upgrades. Every diver brings one booster and they apply to the whole squad, so four players can cover four different needs if they agree before the drop.
The effects, Warbond sources and medal prices below come from the community Helldivers Wiki's booster pages and Arrowhead's Warbond announcements on Steam, current to the Ironclad Democracy Warbond and checked in November 2026. Percentages the wiki marks as player-measured are labeled that way.
How Boosters Work
Boosters are passive effects you pick in your loadout before a mission. They are unlocked inside Warbonds with medals, and each Helldiver equips one, which then benefits the entire squad. The wiki describes the limit as up to four unique boosters per mission, so a coordinated team spreads its picks instead of doubling up.

The free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond contains six of the twenty boosters in the game, which is good news: the strongest general picks cost nothing but medals. The rest come from Premium Warbonds, the most recent being Surplus EAT Allocation and Integrated Extinguishers from Ironclad Democracy, which launched on September 22, 2026. One booster can even switch on without anyone equipping it: when the Democracy Space Station's Orbital Blockade Tactical Action is active over your planet, missions there get the Hellpod Space Optimization effect for free.
Warbonds are split into pages, and each page opens only after you have spent a set number of medals on the Warbond, so the free boosters arrive in a natural order. Hellpod Space Optimization (15 medals, page 3) and Vitality Enhancement (20 medals, page 4) come early and cheap, UAV Recon follows on page 6, Stamina and Muscle Enhancement sit on pages 7 and 9, and Increased Reinforcement Budget waits on page 10 at 150 medals. Because medals stop at 250, plan to spend them as you go rather than saving for the last page in one jump.

The Core Four for Most Squads
- Vitality Enhancement: cuts incoming damage by about 10 percent from every source and makes limb injuries less likely, so fewer stims go into patching yourself up. It also softens Dead Sprint's health drain dramatically.
- Hellpod Space Optimization: every Helldiver lands, including after a reinforcement, with full primary and secondary ammo, grenades and stims. That turns each reinforcement into a fully equipped fighter instead of a scavenger.
- Stamina Enhancement: raises maximum stamina by 22.5 percent and stamina regeneration by 40 percent. It helps everywhere and doubles in value on planets with Intense Heat, which halves stamina, and in timed Blitz missions.
- Increased Reinforcement Budget: adds one reinforcement per Helldiver, so a solo diver starts with six instead of five. At 150 medals it is the priciest Mobilize booster, but on Impossible and above that extra life per player matters.
If your squad only coordinates one thing, make it this: check who is bringing Vitality and Hellpod Space Optimization before anyone picks a niche option.
Situational Picks That Win Specific Missions
Once the core is covered, the fourth slot should answer the planet and the mission type rather than habit.

- Muscle Enhancement: reduces the slow from sandstorms, blizzards, water, snow, mud, foliage and barbed wire, and from acid attacks and bug mines. It does nothing on slopes, plain sand or while climbing.
- UAV Recon Booster: extends radar range by roughly 50 percent, which pairs well with stealthy play, but it does not work under the Atmospheric Spores modifier.
- Localization Confusion: lengthens the cooldown between enemy reinforcement calls by about 15 percent according to player testing, roughly 22 seconds on a solo difficulty 9 mission. It does not reduce patrols or the size of a breach.
- Expert Extraction Pilot: the shuttle arrives in 1 minute 24 seconds instead of two minutes. It is the obvious choice for Blitz missions and for the speed-run gold in our trophy guide.
- Experimental Infusion: stims also grant 10 percent extra movement speed and 10 percent damage resistance for a short time, at the cost of 25 percent more aim sway.
- Flexible Reinforcement Budget: once reinforcements run out, the next one returns after 1 minute 30 seconds instead of two minutes. It is mainly useful for solo divers.
Two picks come with caveats. Motivational Shocks halves most stun durations and shortens slows from tremors and ice plants, but the wiki notes that it does not currently shorten acid slows, which Arrowhead support called a bug in 2025. Dead Sprint lets you keep sprinting on empty stamina by draining about 3.6 percent health per second, stopping at 5 percent health; with Vitality Enhancement the drain falls to about 1 percent.
Hellpod Boosters: Fire, Stun and Smoke
Three boosters change what happens whenever a Hellpod lands, and every pod counts, including supply drops and sentries.
- Firebomb Hellpods make pods explode and ignite the area on impact. They clear the landing zone but can torch teammates and destroy your own nearby sentries, so the wiki advises against them on small maps like Evacuate High-Value Assets.
- Stun Pods stun everything near the landing point for about 10 seconds, the longest stun in the game, which can also catch teammates.
- Concealed Insertion releases a burst of smoke on impact. Inside smoke, enemies can only see you within 10 meters, which makes reinforcing near a fight or grabbing a resupply much safer.
Pick at most one of these per squad and announce it, because a teammate who does not know Firebomb Hellpods are active will happily drop a Resupply on their own head.
Farming and Utility Boosters
When the goal is progress rather than survival, two boosters raise your sample haul. Sample Scanner gives a 15 percent chance that any sample pickup counts double, across all three rarities. Sample Extricator lets large enemies drop common samples when they die, up to 10 per mission, which works best on small maps such as the Eradicate missions where the drops are easy to find. Our ship module guide explains where those samples should go.
The two newest boosters solve specific problems. Surplus EAT Allocation adds a stratagem with two free calls per mission, each dropping a pod with two EAT-17 launchers, which adds up to one disposable rocket for every member of a full squad without anyone spending a stratagem slot; the two calls cannot be rearmed. Integrated Extinguishers halves the time you stay on fire, from three seconds to one and a half, which helps vehicle passengers who cannot easily dive. Armed Resupply Pods, meanwhile, mounts a Liberator Penetrator turret with 140 rounds on every resupply pod that shoots enemies within 30 meters.
Best Boosters by Front and Playstyle
- Terminids: Vitality, Stamina and Muscle Enhancement, because acid slows and swamp terrain are the main threats. Our Terminid guide covers the strains that make Muscle Enhancement essential.
- Automatons: Vitality and Hellpod Space Optimization, with Concealed Insertion as a strong fourth when reinforcing near fortified positions.
- Illuminate: Stamina for kiting slow Voteless and dodging Stingray runs, plus Vitality against their explosive and arc damage; see the Illuminate guide.
- Solo: Increased Reinforcement Budget, Flexible Reinforcement Budget, UAV Recon or Localization Confusion. The older solo tips post explains why reinforcements are the scarcest resource alone.

Booster Mistakes That Waste a Slot
Most booster problems come from habit: players equip the same thing every mission without looking at the planet, the mission type or what the rest of the lobby picked. These are the most common slips, along with what the wiki's testing says about each one.
- Doubling up. With a limit of four unique boosters per mission, two players on Vitality Enhancement means the squad is running three boosters, not four.
- Sample boosters on the wrong mission. Sample Scanner does nothing on missions with no samples to pick up, such as Evacuate High-Value Assets, and Sample Extricator underperforms on low difficulties where large enemies barely spawn.
- Flexible Reinforcement Budget in a full squad. The wiki rates it as only marginally useful with four players, because the larger shared pool rarely runs dry; it earns its slot when you dive alone.
- Expecting Localization Confusion to thin out the map. It only stretches the timer between reinforcement calls; patrols spawn at the usual rate and a breach is just as big when it happens.
- Counting on Motivational Shocks against bile. Until the reported bug is fixed, Muscle Enhancement is the booster that actually softens acid slows.
One reassuring detail for hosts: if the player who brought Increased Reinforcement Budget disconnects or gets kicked, the extra reinforcements stay. The wiki also notes that the booster's extra reinforcements are not added for players who hot-join once the pool is already empty, so invite friends early rather than late.
Missing the Warbonds That Hold These Boosters?
Fourteen of the twenty boosters live in Premium Warbonds, which cost Super Credits to unlock and medals to work through, and medals cap at 250 at a time. The store's Helldivers 2 boosting hub lists Super Credits and value bundles alongside medals boosting for PC and PlayStation accounts. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the single best booster in Helldivers 2?
Vitality Enhancement is the safest all-round pick because its damage reduction helps on every front and mission type, and it only costs 20 medals in the free Warbond.
Can two players bring the same booster?
The wiki describes the squad limit as four unique boosters per mission, so doubling up wastes a slot. Agree on four different boosters in the lobby.
Which boosters are free?
Six come from the free Helldivers Mobilize Warbond: Hellpod Space Optimization, Vitality Enhancement, UAV Recon, Stamina Enhancement, Muscle Enhancement and Increased Reinforcement Budget.
What booster is best for playing solo?
Increased Reinforcement Budget, which takes a solo diver from five lives to six. Flexible Reinforcement Budget is a good second choice for the refill timer.
Does Hellpod Space Optimization work on reinforcements?
Yes. It applies to the initial drop and to every reinforcement, so each Helldiver lands with full ammo, grenades and stims.
Which booster gets the most samples?
Sample Scanner for overall volume, since it can double any pickup, or Sample Extricator on small maps where you can collect the extra drops from large enemies.
