Ghost of Yotei got New Game Plus in the free patch 1.100 on November 24, 2025. It unlocks once you finish the main story, restarts Atsu's hunt from the beginning with all of your armor, abilities and weapons, adds harder difficulty options and an extra upgrade tier for existing gear, and introduces Ghost Flowers, a currency you spend with a new vendor, Masujiro the Melodious, on cosmetics, charms and two new armor sets. It also brought two trophies that sit outside the base game's platinum.

We checked this against Sucker Punch's official patch notes for 1.100, 1.101, 1.102 and 1.512, the PlayStation Blog's New Game Plus announcement, Push Square's patch coverage, the Ghost Flowers guides from Shacknews and Game8, Playnews' New Game Plus guide and the PSTHC trophy list in November 2026.

When New Game Plus Arrived and How to Start It

Sucker Punch announced the mode on the PlayStation Blog on November 19, 2025, and it went live five days later as part of version 1.100.000, a free patch for every player. Downloading it requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. The mode unlocks after you complete the main story; according to Push Square's patch coverage you then choose New Game Plus from the title screen, and Game8's guide describes the same main-menu option.

The early weeks had a few rough edges that are now fixed. Patch 1.101 on December 4, 2025 addressed bugs related to the New Game Plus vendor, fixed a Bamboo Strike counter that showed negative values on the map in New Game Plus and cleared up several rare mission soft locks, and 1.102 on December 12 followed with stability fixes. Make sure your copy is fully updated before starting a second run, since those fixes target the mode directly.

There is no rush to start. PowerPyx notes that the game keeps free roam open after the story and supports 10 manual save slots, so you can wrap up leftover side content first and begin the second run whenever you are ready. New Game Plus is about reliving Atsu's hunt with your full kit, at a harder difficulty if you like, rather than about finishing what you missed.

What Carries Over and What Changes

The PlayStation Blog's announcement is clear on the core rule: all the armors, abilities and weapons you earned in your first playthrough are available from the start. Push Square's summary of the patch adds that your upgrades, cosmetics and resources come along as well, so you begin the prologue with a fully built Atsu rather than a fresh recruit.

Two changes balance that head start. New Game Plus adds harder difficulty options; Sucker Punch's announcement does not name them, while Playnews' guide reports that each existing difficulty gains a tougher variant. To keep pace, existing armor sets and weapons gain an additional tier of upgrades, which gives your maxed first-run gear somewhere new to go. The patch also added a new stats display, so you can see your difficulty and playtime at a glance.

New Game Plus also connects to the rest of the game. Since patch 1.512 on March 20, 2026, certain cosmetics unlocked on New Game Plus single-player saves are also unlocked in the Legends co-op mode, and the Complete Edition released in October 2026 added further New Game Plus cosmetics. If you are deciding whether a second run is worth it, our how long to beat guide covers the time involved.

Ghost Flowers and Where to Earn Them

Ghost Flowers exist only in New Game Plus, and Game8 confirms they are used only as currency with Masujiro, so do not confuse them with the regular flowers you spend at dye merchants. Press the touchpad to see your count, which appears just below your coins and collected flowers. Push Square's patch summary describes them as rewards for completing content in New Game Plus that you already completed in your first run.

  • Main and side quests: completing story and side tales again pays out flowers.
  • Bounties: deliver them to Kojiro the Bounty Broker; Game8 notes the flowers arrive when you talk to him, not the moment the target dies.
  • Altars of Reflection: Shacknews says each altar you unlock grants some flowers, so revisiting them is worthwhile.
  • Duels: challenging swordsmen to duels also earns flowers.
  • Cursed charms: three charms from Masujiro add a chance for flowers to drop from enemies you kill.

The most efficient pattern is to sweep each region's altars and duels as soon as the story reopens it. You already know where everything is, so collection is quick, and the early flowers fund your first purchases from Masujiro before you push into the harder fights.

Masujiro the Melodious and What He Sells

Shacknews places the New Game Plus merchant just northwest of Atsu's home in Yotei Grasslands, and Playnews adds that he stands on the path toward the Yotei's Shadow inn, so he is easy to find as soon as the mode begins. Officially, his stock includes more than 30 new cosmetics, among them armor sets and weapon dyes, plus 10 new charms, and Sucker Punch's patch notes confirm two new armor sets. Playnews lists the two sets at 15 Ghost Flowers each and the weapon kits, dyes, hats and masks at 3 to 7.

The three cursed charms are the gamble. Shacknews names them as the Charm of Cursed Spirit, the Charm of Misfortune and the Charm of Frailty, each trading a drawback for a chance at Ghost Flowers from kills. Playnews describes the drawbacks: Misfortune stops enemies from dropping resources or ammunition, Cursed Spirit doubles the Spirit cost of healing and special attacks, and Frailty makes any successful enemy attack fatal while disabling Onryo's Will. Misfortune is the gentlest after a full first run, when your stockpiles are already large.

Treat the cursed charms as farming tools rather than permanent equipment. Slot one in while you clear groups of ordinary enemies, then swap back to your normal charms before a story boss or a difficult duel, where a doubled Spirit cost or a one-hit death would undo the gain. Buying armor, a charm or a piece of vanity gear from Masujiro also unlocks the Rare and Exceptional trophy, so make that first purchase early.

Replayable Camps and Duels

Patch 1.100 also made challenge content replayable once you have completed it, covering all 22 Yotei Six Camps and 26 duels. Push Square explains that these are replayed from the map after the post-credits content, that a results screen shows your completion time, difficulty and goals such as No Damage Taken and Undetected, and that in New Game Plus camps and duels can be replayed once you have cleared them again.

That turns two of the game's best set pieces into practice tools. A replayable camp is the ideal place to test a new build on a harder difficulty before you face the story bosses with it, and a replayable duel lets you drill parry timing against the same opponent until the higher damage stops surprising you. Our Onryo armor guide is a good starting point if you want a crowd-fighting build to test.

The Two New Game Plus Trophies

Push Square lists the two additions as Mo Ichido, for completing Atsu's Hunt in New Game Plus, and Rare and Exceptional, for buying armor, a charm or vanity gear from Masujiro the Melodious in New Game Plus. The PSTHC trophy list shows them in their own New Game Plus group with one silver and one bronze, separate from the 54 base-game trophies, so the original platinum does not require them.

Rare and Exceptional takes minutes once you have a handful of Ghost Flowers, while Mo Ichido needs a complete second run of the story. The full trophy structure, including the Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted groups, is in our trophy guide, and our collectibles guide lists the altars and duels that double as Ghost Flower sources.

Settings Worth Changing for a Second Run

The same patch added options that make a replay smoother. There is a new Balanced graphics mode for displays that support 120Hz, plus VRR support, and you can now turn off fall damage, although some falls remain lethal. Auto-loot collects from defeated enemies without a button press, Sumi-e minigames can be skipped, an additional loadout slot makes swapping builds easier, and a visual indicator can show when animals are leading you.

For a run where you already know the story, auto-loot and skippable Sumi-e save the most time, while the extra loadout slot pays off once Masujiro's charms start changing your builds. If you are playing on one of the harder options, try a few replayable camps first to recalibrate before committing to the main tales.

Jumping Straight Into New Game Plus

If you would rather skip the first playthrough's grind and go straight to the second, the store's NG+ starter save is built for that. New Game is already completed, so New Game Plus can be opened at any time and skips the prologue automatically, and the page states that applying it does not affect trophies. It pairs that with max health and stamina, every melee and ranged weapon, all 12 armor sets and all skills, plus a deep stock of crafting materials: textiles, metal and wood at 9,999,999 and precious metal, young bamboo and black powder at 999.

It is a PS5 save, the game is not included, and the hub page notes it can be applied even on a copy you have not played yet. Compare it with the Story Mode, Legends and Most Wanted saves on the Ghost of Yotei hub.
