Fortnite Battle Pass Explained: Cost, Levels and Pages

The Fortnite Battle Pass is a seasonal reward track: you pay 800 V-Bucks once, then earn levels by playing and completing quests, and each level unlocks outfits, emotes, V-Bucks and other cosmetics arranged on pages. Finishing the paid track returns 800 V-Bucks, enough for the next pass, and Fortnite Crew subscribers get the paid track included. As of November 2026 the live pass belongs to the Treasure Hunters mini-season, the One Piece collaboration that started on November 1.

We checked this in November 2026 against the Fortnite Wiki's Battle Pass page, Epic's help articles on pass items returning, gifting and claiming rewards with Crew, Game Developer's report on the March 2026 pass prices, Beebom's and unplayed.gg's coverage of the Treasure Hunters pass, and Timesaver.gg's community XP testing.

How the Pass Works in One Minute

Every season Fortnite runs two tracks side by side. The free track is open to everyone and pays out a smaller set of rewards, including 300 V-Bucks according to the Fortnite Wiki. The paid track, which is what people mean by buying the Battle Pass, layers the premium rewards on top: the wiki counts 100 rewards in a standard paid pass, 85 of them cosmetics, with 800 V-Bucks spread among the rest.

Progress on both tracks comes from the same place, your seasonal level. Every bit of XP you earn in a match, a quest or a supported island pushes that level up, and each level unlocks the next reward you are eligible for. Buying the pass halfway through the season does not reset anything: it unlocks the paid rewards up to the level you have already reached.

Past level 100, paid holders keep unlocking bonus cosmetics, such as alternate Super Level Styles for the season's outfits. Free players can keep leveling past 100 as well, but the wiki notes they do not receive the bonus items. The level cap and the bonus pages are where long-time players spend their late-season grind, and they are the main reason a pass can feel endless if you are aiming for every last style.

What It Costs and What You Get Back

Since Epic's March 2026 pricing change, the Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000, and completing it awards 800 V-Bucks. The $8.99 V-Bucks pack now holds exactly 800, so in US dollars the pass costs $8.99 the first time you buy it. After that, a player who finishes each season can roll the earn-back into the next pass and never pay for one again.

The other ways to pay or speed things up:

  • Battle Bundle: the pass plus 25 levels for 2,600 V-Bucks, down from 2,800 in March 2026.
  • Single levels: 150 V-Bucks each, with the wiki listing a limit of 100 purchased levels and a maximum of level 200.
  • Level Up Quest Pack: 1,800 V-Bucks, which the wiki says is worth 25 or more levels through its quests.
  • Fortnite Crew: the paid track is included while the subscription is active. If you started Crew on or after December 1, 2024, Epic's help article says you can claim premium rewards only while Crew is active, or until the end of the billing period after you cancel.

Buying levels is the poorest value on that list. The pass already hands its own price back in V-Bucks if you finish it, and every V-Buck spent on skipping levels is a V-Buck not spent on the Item Shop. Our V-Bucks price guide lists every pack if you are deciding how much to buy, and our Fortnite Crew breakdown shows when the subscription beats buying the pass outright.

Pages, Levels and the Order Things Unlock

Rewards are grouped into pages, and how those pages open has changed during Chapter 7. According to the Fortnite Wiki, Chapter 7 Season 1 introduced non-linear progression, where you chose which page to unlock after reaching certain levels and the final page stayed locked until level 85. Chapter 7 Season 3 switched back to level-locked pages that open in a fixed order.

Within a page you can usually claim rewards in any order you like, so you can prioritize the cosmetics you care about and leave sprays and banners for later. AllThingsHow's Chapter 7 Season 1 guide noted the catch: you had to clear a page before its headline outfit variant unlocked, and some edit styles required quests in specific modes such as Reload or Blitz rather than plain Battle Royale. Rules like these change between seasons, so read the pass screen before assuming a reward will drop at a given level.

The current Treasure Hunters pass is organized around character sets. Beebom's breakdown lists sets for Nico Robin, Portgas D. Ace, Kawaii Team Leader, Commodore Jones, Charlotte Sensei and Captain X, with most of them split into a Page 1 and a Page 2. In that listing each set's first page carries an outfit and the second page adds a further outfit or style, so finishing a character's first page is the quickest route to wearing them.

Where Your Levels Come From

Epic does not publish the XP needed per level, but community testing summarized by Timesaver.gg puts it at about 80,000 XP per Battle Pass level, or roughly 8,000,000 XP to reach level 100. That same testing points to daily quests as the most efficient XP per minute, followed by weekly, milestone and seasonal quests, with match placement and eliminations being the slowest route.

Creator-made islands help, but they are capped. AllThingsHow measured a weekly limit of about 4.8 million XP from Creative maps, roughly 60 levels, after which those islands stop paying XP until the weekly reset. Timesaver.gg's testing suggests a similar ceiling. Chapter 7 also made the grind steeper: Insider Gaming reported in December 2025 that Battle Royale weekly quests fell from 170,000 to 134,000 XP and Creative playtime XP from 2,300 to 1,750 at the start of the chapter.

Two practical takeaways follow. Log in for daily quests even when you only have time for one or two matches, and use XP islands to top up rather than as your main source. Our existing guide to Fortnite XP maps covers the island side in detail. Ranked play does not speed any of this up: Timesaver.gg notes that ranked progress is tracked separately from pass XP, which our ranked ranks explainer covers.

The Treasure Hunters Pass, November 2026

The mini-season that replaced Chapter 7 Season 4 on November 1 runs for only about five weeks, with coverage pointing to an early December finish ahead of the Chapter 7 end event. That is a much shorter window than Override, which ran about ten weeks, so pacing yourself matters more than it did last season.

  • Price: 800 V-Bucks, or included with Fortnite Crew, per unplayed.gg.
  • Headline characters: Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin from One Piece, plus anime-style remixes of Jonesy, Cuddle Team Leader and Charlotte.
  • Gifting bonus: unplayed.gg reports that gifting this pass gives both you and your friend a Dark Kawaii Team Leader style, while Beebom describes the bonus as an outfit, pickaxe and back bling for the sender, so check the in-game gift screen for the exact terms.

Run the numbers before you start. If the community figure of about 80,000 XP per level holds for this pass, reaching level 100 in five weeks means earning roughly 1.6 million XP every week, or about 20 levels. Daily and weekly quests have to carry most of that load, a missed week puts you well behind, and the bonus rewards past level 100 will be a stretch in a window this short.

Luffy is not in this pass. The One Piece crew's main characters, Luffy, Nami and Usopp, went to the Item Shop on November 1 instead, which is worth knowing before you buy the pass expecting the straw hat.

What Happens When the Season Ends

When a season closes, progress on that pass stops for good. Games.gg's season-end guide notes that rewards you have already earned are delivered automatically at your next login, but levels you have not reached can no longer be earned. The Fortnite Wiki adds that you cannot claim items or progress on passes from previous seasons.

Pass items are not necessarily gone forever, though. Epic's help article says that starting with Chapter 5 Season 4, items from Fortnite Passes might be offered in the Item Shop 18 or more months after the pass expires, and it makes no promise about any particular item. Older pass items are not covered by that statement.

Gifting also has a deadline. Epic's gifting rules say pass gifting is turned off near the end of a season, and an unused pass gift is refunded as V-Bucks when the season ends. Only passes bought with real money can be gifted, never ones bought with V-Bucks, and the sender needs two-factor authentication. Our gifting guide lists the rest of the requirements.

Short on V-Bucks for the Pass?

If your balance is the only thing standing between you and this season's pass, the store's Fortnite V-Bucks page lists a V-Bucks top-up as well as pre-made accounts holding 15,000 to 60,000 V-Bucks, with listings for PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC. The page specifically asks you to check each product page for whether a Battle Pass purchase is included or separate, along with platform locks and region, before you check out.

A pre-made account is a separate account with its own balance, so it suits someone starting fresh rather than someone topping up an existing locker. Everything else the store offers for the game sits on the Fortnite hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Fortnite Battle Pass right now?

800 V-Bucks, which is the $8.99 pack in the US. The Battle Bundle with 25 extra levels costs 2,600 V-Bucks, and Fortnite Crew includes the pass.

Do you get your V-Bucks back from the Battle Pass?

Yes, if you reach the end of the paid track. It pays out 800 V-Bucks in total, the same as its price, while the free track pays 300.

Can you buy the Battle Pass late in the season?

Yes. Buying late unlocks every paid reward up to your current level at once, so the levels you earned before buying are not wasted.

Is Luffy in the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass?

No. The pass has Portgas D. Ace and Nico Robin, while Luffy, Nami and Usopp were sold in the Item Shop when the mini-season launched.

Will Battle Pass skins come back to the Item Shop?

They might. Epic says items from passes starting with Chapter 5 Season 4 can appear in the shop 18 or more months after the pass ends, but nothing is promised for any single item.

How much XP do you need per Battle Pass level?

Epic does not publish it, but community testing puts it at about 80,000 XP per level, so level 100 takes roughly 8 million XP.
