As of November 2026, Fortnite V-Bucks in the US cost $8.99 for 800, $22.99 for 2,400, $36.99 for 4,500 and $89.99 for 12,500, with a 50 V-Bucks Exact Amount top-up at $0.99. Epic kept those dollar prices in March 2026 but cut the number of V-Bucks inside every pack, so each V-Buck now costs more than it did at the start of the year. The real question is which pack fits what you plan to buy, and which platform you buy it on.
We checked every number here in November 2026 against Game Developer's and VICE's coverage of Epic's March 2026 price announcement, MyPandaPlay's October 2026 pack table, the Epic Games Store listing for the 800 V-Bucks pack, Epic's Shared Wallet help article and TheGamer's report on the Fortnite Crew change.
The Four Packs Side by Side
Epic sells V-Bucks in four standard bundles plus the Exact Amount option, and the bigger the bundle, the less each V-Buck costs you. The table below shows the US prices that have applied since the March 2026 change next to the amounts those same prices bought before it. The cost per 100 column is simple division of the price by the V-Bucks in the pack, rounded to the cent.
![Fortnite YouTube thumbnail: Fortnite’s V-BUCKS CHANGE is WORSE Than We Thought! [RANT]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/eCPd2nEL8cI/hqdefault.jpg)
| Price (USD) | V-Bucks before | V-Bucks now | Cost per 100 now |
|---|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 1,000 | 800 | $1.12 |
| $22.99 | 2,800 | 2,400 | $0.96 |
| $36.99 | 5,000 | 4,500 | $0.82 |
| $89.99 | 13,500 | 12,500 | $0.72 |
| $0.99 Exact Amount | 50 for about $0.50 | 50 | $1.98 |
The pack most players notice is the smallest one. Before the change, the $8.99 bundle held 1,000 V-Bucks and the Battle Pass cost 1,000. Epic moved both numbers to 800 at the same time, so the smallest pack still buys exactly one pass and nothing else, and the Epic Games Store now lists that bundle simply as 800 V-Bucks. Where players feel the cut is everything else bought with the same dollars, since each one now carries fewer V-Bucks.
The cuts were not equal across the range. Working from the old and new amounts, the $8.99 pack lost 20 percent of its V-Bucks, the $22.99 pack about 14 percent, the $36.99 pack 10 percent and the $89.99 pack roughly 7 percent. In other words, the change hit small, frequent purchases hardest and left the largest bundle closest to its old value.
What Epic Changed in March 2026
Game Developer reported the announcement on March 10, 2026, quoting Epic's reason in one line: the cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and the price increase is meant to help pay the bills. The change landed at the turn of the season. VICE listed the switch at 12:00 AM Pacific on March 18, the final day of Chapter 7 Season 1, while Game Developer tied it to the March 19 season launch, so the exact moment depended on your time zone.
- The Exact Amount option for 50 V-Bucks went from roughly $0.50 to $0.99.
- The Battle Pass dropped from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks, and completing it now pays back 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,500.
- The Battle Bundle (the pass plus 25 levels) fell from 2,800 to 2,600 V-Bucks.
- The OG Pass went from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks, and the Music Pass and LEGO Pass each went from 1,400 to 1,200.
- Fortnite Crew kept its $11.99 monthly price but cut its monthly grant from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks for renewals on or after June 6, 2026, according to TheGamer.
One thing did not change: V-Bucks gift cards bought before the switch still redeem for the amount printed on them. If someone gave you an older 1,000 V-Bucks card, you still get 1,000, which makes those leftover cards slightly more valuable than a new $8.99 purchase. Our V-Bucks card redemption guide covers how to load one onto each platform.
Which Pack Is the Best Value
On pure cost per V-Buck, the 12,500 bundle wins at about 72 cents per 100, against $1.12 per 100 for the smallest pack. That gap is real, but a cheaper rate only saves money if you would have spent the extra V-Bucks anyway. Unspent V-Bucks sitting in your wallet are money you paid early, not money you saved.

A better way to choose is to price the things you actually want and buy the smallest pack that covers them. A few combinations work out neatly with the current amounts:
- 800 V-Bucks covers one Battle Pass or one OG Pass, with nothing left.
- 2,400 V-Bucks covers the Battle Pass plus a 1,600 V-Bucks outfit, or two 1,200 V-Bucks passes such as Music and LEGO together.
- 4,500 V-Bucks covers the 2,600 V-Bucks Battle Bundle plus an outfit up to 1,800 V-Bucks, with 100 left over.
- 12,500 V-Bucks makes sense only if you buy regularly across a whole season, or you are buying several bundles at once.
Avoid leaning on the Exact Amount option. At $0.99 for 50, it works out to $1.98 per 100 V-Bucks, the worst rate Epic offers by a wide margin. It is only worth pressing when you are a few V-Bucks short of something you want today. If you keep finding yourself in that spot, buying a bigger pack once is the cheaper fix per V-Buck.
Remember the earn-back, too. Because a completed Battle Pass returns 800 V-Bucks, a player who finishes every pass only has to buy V-Bucks once and can roll the refund into the next season's pass. That loop is the closest thing to a free pass in Fortnite, and it only works if you actually reach the last reward levels before the season ends. Our Battle Pass explainer walks through how the levels and pages work.
Epic Rewards: Money Back on Some Platforms Only
Alongside the March change, Epic started giving 20 percent back in Epic Rewards on V-Bucks bought through the Epic Games Store or Epic's own payment system on PC, iOS, Android and the web. VICE listed the return per pack as $1.79 on the $8.99 bundle, $4.59 on the $22.99 bundle, $7.39 on the $36.99 bundle and $17.99 on the $89.99 bundle. Purchases made through a console's own store are not on that list, so the reward only applies when Epic itself handles the payment.
The reward is credit, not cash, and it does not arrive as V-Bucks. Game Developer reported that it can be spent in Fortnite, in other Epic titles or on the Epic Games Store. If you would use that credit anyway, it effectively brings the price of an 800 V-Bucks pack down to about $7.20, which is close to what 800 V-Bucks cost before the change. If you only ever play on console and never shop on Epic's store, the reward does nothing for you, and the console storefront price is the price you pay.
What Your V-Bucks Buy in November 2026
Passes are the easiest purchases to plan for, since each one has a single published price. The current Treasure Hunters Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks, the same as the Override pass before it, and the Fortnite Wiki lists individual Battle Pass levels at 150 V-Bucks each and the Level Up Quest Pack at 1,800 V-Bucks. Buying levels is the least efficient way to spend, since 150 V-Bucks per level adds up fast.
Item Shop prices vary by item. For a sense of scale, unplayed.gg tracked the One Piece collaboration that opened the Treasure Hunters mini-season on November 1:
- Monkey D. Luffy: 1,800 V-Bucks
- Nami and Usopp: 1,600 V-Bucks each
- Going Merry: 1,200 V-Bucks
- Multi-Punches Flex emote: 300 V-Bucks
- One Piece Bundle with Luffy, Nami, Usopp and accessories: 4,000 V-Bucks, against 8,200 for the same items bought one at a time
Bundles like that are where a larger pack starts to pay off, because the bundle discount and the better per-V-Buck rate stack. If you subscribe instead of buying packs, our Fortnite Crew breakdown compares the monthly 800 V-Bucks plus passes against buying the same things outright.
Platform and Region Catches Before You Buy
Where you buy matters as much as how much. Epic's help article on cross-platform balances says most platforms share one wallet, but there are exceptions worth checking before you pay:
- Nintendo Switch is outside the Shared Wallet. V-Bucks bought on Switch stay on Switch, cannot be used in the web Item Shop, and V-Bucks bought on PC, PlayStation or Xbox show as zero when you play on Switch.
- For players in Korea, Epic notes that V-Bucks bought on PC are not shared either.
- V-Bucks earned in-game from passes, Quest Packs or Save the World are shared across every platform, including Switch.
- Prices outside the US follow regional pricing, so the in-game shop on your platform is the only reliable source for your local figure.
If you split time between Switch and another system, buy V-Bucks on the platform you spend them on most, or stick to the Battle Pass earn-back loop, since earned V-Bucks travel everywhere. And if a purchase goes wrong after you spend, Epic's return system can sometimes give the V-Bucks back; our guide to refund tickets and cancellations explains the limits.
Looking Beyond Epic's Own Packs
If you are comparing options outside Epic's bundles, the store's Fortnite V-Bucks page lists two kinds of listing: pre-made accounts that already hold between 15,000 and 60,000 V-Bucks, and a V-Bucks top-up. The page says each listing states its platform, the approximate amount and how delivery works, and it asks you to read the product page for Battle Pass compatibility and region notes before paying. Keep in mind that a pre-made account is a separate Epic account, so its V-Bucks stay on that account rather than moving into the one you already play on.
Given the Switch wallet rule above, those platform notes matter more than the headline number. The wider Fortnite section of the store groups V-Bucks, skins, accounts and boosting in one place, and its support team will point you to a listing if you send them what you want to unlock.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is 1,000 V-Bucks now?
Epic no longer sells a 1,000 V-Bucks bundle in the US. The $8.99 pack that used to hold 1,000 now holds 800, though older 1,000 V-Bucks gift cards still redeem at their printed value.
How much is the Fortnite Battle Pass in real money?
The pass costs 800 V-Bucks, which is the $8.99 bundle in the US. Finishing it pays 800 V-Bucks back, enough to buy the following season's pass.
Did V-Bucks prices go up in 2026?
Yes. In March 2026 Epic kept pack prices the same but put fewer V-Bucks in each one, for example 2,400 instead of 2,800 in the $22.99 pack.
Are V-Bucks cheaper on PC or mobile?
The sticker price is the same, but paying through Epic's own system on PC, iOS, Android or the web earns 20 percent back as Epic Rewards credit, which console stores do not offer.
Can I move V-Bucks from Switch to PlayStation?
No. Switch is outside the Shared Wallet, so purchased V-Bucks there stay on Switch. Only V-Bucks earned from passes, Quest Packs or Save the World cross over.
What is the cheapest V-Bucks pack per V-Buck?
The $89.99 bundle of 12,500 works out to about 72 cents per 100 V-Bucks. It is only cheaper overall if you would spend most of it within a season or two.
