Enshrouded Builds in 1.0: Six Strong Setups to Try

Enshrouded YouTube thumbnail: Enshrouded - NEW TOP 3 BEST BUILDS After 1.0 Update!

The strongest builds in Enshrouded 1.0 pair one main weapon style with a handful of support skills from the open skill tree: a two-handed Barbarian, a sword-and-shield Tank, a bow Ranger or dagger Assassin, a wand-and-staff Battlemage, and a Healer or summoner for groups. Skill points come from levels, Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells, and if a build does not click you can respec at any Flame Altar. As of November 2026, the 1.0 skill tree, the new mage skills and Patch 1.0.1.0's balance tweaks are all live.

We checked this against Keen Games' 1.0 combat preview, the full 1.0 changelog and Patch 1.0.1.0 notes, and the Enshrouded Wiki's Skills, Attributes, Skill Points and Flame Altar pages in November 2026. Skill values below are the ones the wiki lists; Keen rebalanced many costs in 1.0, so check the tooltip in game before you commit.

How Builds Work in Enshrouded

There are no fixed classes. The wiki describes one big skill tree split into three areas, Ranger, Mage and Warrior, each with four themed sections: Assassin, Ranger, Beastmaster and Survivor; Trickster, Wizard, Healer and Battlemage; and Tank, Warrior, Barbarian and Athlete. Any character can take any node as long as it connects to one already unlocked, which is why hybrids are common. Six attributes sit underneath: on the wiki, each point of Constitution adds 50 health, Spirit 20 mana, Endurance 10 stamina, and Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence add 5% melee, ranged and magic damage respectively.

Skill points come from three sources. The wiki lists 2 points per level gained, 1 per Shroud Root destroyed and 3 per Elixir Well cleared, each root and well paying out only once per character. 1.0 raised the level cap to 50 and added 12 Shroud Roots in Cinder's Cradle plus 6 more in the new areas near the world's edges, so a finished character has far more points than in Early Access. If you need levels quickly, our guide to leveling fast covers the best XP sources.

  • Respec anytime. The wiki's Flame Altar page says the altar resets your skill tree for 1 Rune per spent skill point, and Keen reminded players in Wake of the Water that you can respec at the nearest altar.
  • Old saves were reset. The first time you load an existing save in 1.0, the skill tree is reset and the points refunded, so spend them before you leave the base.
  • Gear follows the build. 1.0 unlocks the next tier's craftable armor sets automatically every time you upgrade the Flame. Our best armor guide matches sets to each playstyle.

Two-Handed Barbarian

The Barbarian is the simplest strong build: a big hammer, axe or greatsword, lots of Strength and attacks that stagger everything in front of you. 1.0 made it better by letting heavy melee attacks hit several nearby enemies instead of only the first one, and by fixing the range of two-handed axes so the second hit and whirlwind no longer miss.

  • Core nodes: Strength, Heavy Specialization for faster two-handed attacks, Relentless (two-handed crits raise crit chance for the next hit) and Breach (overpowered enemies take double melee damage for 3 seconds).
  • Signature move: Whirlwind Crescendo ends a two-handed combo in a spin. Patch 1.0.1.0 lowered its stamina cost.
  • Sustain: Blood Rage grants 20% more melee damage for 10 seconds after a kill, and the Warrior section's Steadfast restores weapon durability on kills.
  • Stats: Strength first, then Constitution. Endurance helps because every swing and dodge costs stamina.

For gems, the Barbarian's cutting and blunt damage pairs well with the Gem of Bloodlust or Overpowering; our Enshrouded gems guide lists where each one drops.

Sword-and-Shield Tank

The Tank holds attention so friends can deal damage. It is the most forgiving solo build too, because 1.0 made blocking feel much better: stamina now recovers while you block, and the block direction follows the camera rather than the way your character faces.

  • Defense: Constitution, Shiny Plates (more physical armor) and Heavy Plates (a higher mitigation cap), then Tower and Warden, which cut physical and magic damage when three or more enemies are within 20 meters.
  • Aggro: Nemesis and Arch Nemesis pull enemies away from allies, which is the whole point of a tank in a group.
  • Group aura: Earth Aura reduces incoming damage by 10% for you and allies within 10 meters.
  • Offense: the Battlemage and Tank crossover offers Evasion Attack, a dash toward an enemy, and Battle Heal, which heals on critical melee hits.

One-handed swords and axes speed up with Swift Blades from the Warrior section, and The Warrior's Path adds melee damage across the board. If you play mostly alone, take Purification so melee kills of Shroud-infested foes add time to your Shroud timer.

Ranger and Assassin

Bows were already strong, and 1.0 gave them three new skills from the combat preview: Puncture increases ranged piercing damage, Barrage gives bow hits a chance to restore durability, and Survival Instinct restores Shroud time when you kill a Shroud-infested enemy with a bow or dagger. The wiki's Ranger section adds Marksman and Sharpshooter for flat ranged damage, Skill Shot for headshots and Multi Shot for volleys.

Dagger players got the biggest structural change. 1.0 moved dagger-related skills from the Warrior area into the Assassin section where they belong, gave the Revelwood and Nomad Highlands tiers a craftable dagger set each, and changed the Assassin, Frostbite Slasher and Blood Feather sets to a melee critical hit chance upgrade perk instead of sneak attack damage. A ranger who wants a backup melee option now has a natural one.

  • Stats: Dexterity for damage, Endurance for stamina-hungry bow draws and glides.
  • Arrows: 1.0 added upgradeable eternal arrows, so a bow build no longer lives and dies by its arrow supply.
  • Controls: 1.0 added separate aim assist settings for ranged weapons; it is on by default for controller and off for mouse and keyboard.

Battlemage and Wizard

Mages were the main focus of 1.0. Wands now have a heavy attack that pierces through enemies, two new active skills (Aerial Wand Attack and Wand Evasion Attack), and better targeting with an optional free aim mode. Patch 1.0.1.0 then made the Aerial Wand Attack cost 40 mana instead of stamina and lowered the mana cost of Wand Evasion Attack, which smooths out a mana-only playstyle.

  • Combo skill: Blast and Cast, from the combat preview, raises the base damage of your next staff attack by 50% within 10 seconds after a wand critical hit. Alternate wand and staff to keep it running.
  • Elements: pick one element and stack its nodes. The wiki lists Pyromaniac, Lightning and Subzero at +20% fire, shock or ice damage, with smaller nodes before them.
  • Crit chains: Chain Hit and Mass Destruction turn magic critical hits into extra shock damage on nearby enemies.
  • Mana: Unity restores mana on wand hits, and Quick Charge makes staffs charge spells 50% faster.

The other half of a mage build is spells. Our guide to eternal spells in Enshrouded covers the charge-free versions that every spell received in 1.0, which changes how you balance Spirit against Intelligence.

Healer and Summoner

In a group, a Healer makes boss fights far easier. The wiki's Healer section offers more healing output, Divine Surge so healing spells can critically strike, Water Aura to heal allies within 15 meters, and Righteous Fire, which turns your heals into fire damage on nearby Fell. Shroud Filter has a chance on magic hits to restore Shroud time for you and allies, and Martyr heals the group when you fall.

Summoners are new territory in 1.0. Keen added summon spells, including Summon Hollow Skeleton and three elemental totems, together with Advanced Necromancy and Totem Mastery to raise how many skeletons and totems you can keep. The game now enforces a maximum number of player-spawned creatures and replaces the oldest when you cast past it, and necromancy companions lose health over time when out of combat, so a summoner plays best with constant fighting rather than long breaks.

Core Skills Every Build Should Consider

Some nodes are worth taking regardless of class:

  • Shroud time: Inner Fires in the core of the tree, and Relentless Flame between the Beastmaster and Survivor sections. A Fell Curse can still cut that time, so carry the cure.
  • Movement: Double Jump, and Airborne in the Assassin section for gliders that use 30% less stamina.
  • Scaling attributes: nodes such as Barbarian, Thick Skin, Exalted and Graceful Stride grant 1 point of their attribute for every two Flame levels, which keeps paying out as the server's Flame grows.
  • Building: Airborne Architect in the center of the tree lets you build in a free-flying mode. Builders choosing a home should read our guide to the best base locations in Enshrouded first.

If you plan a group with mixed roles, remember that everyone has to be on the same platform for now; our Enshrouded crossplay guide explains why.

Want the Levels Without the Grind?

Every build above wants levels: more skill points, higher attributes and access to better gear. If you would rather spend your time testing builds than grinding XP, the store's fast level boost for PC has the seller level your character in the game, with bonuses included, after you follow their instructions.

It is a PC-only service; check the level range on the listing before ordering. For PS5 and PC, the store's modded save and the rest of the options are on the Enshrouded services page.
