Enshrouded Amber Location: Where to Mine It in Revelwood

Enshrouded YouTube thumbnail: Enshrouded - How to get Amber Location! - (Amber Farm Guide)

Amber in Enshrouded is mined from red amber veins inside the Shroud of Revelwood, and the Enshrouded Wiki points to several deposits in a deep Shroud cavity between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb, north of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. It is a level 13 Revelwood material, and the first big reason to collect it is the Flame: upgrading to Flame level 4 takes 15 amber. As of November 2026 and the 1.0 release, that location and those recipes still apply.

We checked this against the Enshrouded Wiki's Amber, Revelwood, Flame Altar and Spells pages, Keen Games' 1.0 changelog and the official Server Gameplay Settings and tips articles in November 2026.

What Amber Is and Why You Need It

The wiki describes amber as a material created through years of petrification and used for production. It is a common crafting material with a stack size of 250, tagged as level 13 and found in the Revelwood biome. In other words, it belongs to the second tier of the game, the stretch where you are just leaving the Springlands behind and starting to push into darker forests and deeper Shroud.

The most important use comes early. According to the wiki's Flame Altar page, strengthening the Flame to level 4 needs 4 rescued survivors, 10 Sparks, and 15 each of Goo, Corrupted Boar Tusk, Indigo Plant, Amber and Copper Ore, plus a Fell Wispwyvern Head. Without those 15 pieces, your altar count, attribute bonus and Shroud time stay stuck at the Flame level 3 values. Our Flame level guide lists every other step.

After that, amber turns into a steady ingredient for gear and comfort items. The wiki's recipe list, which it notes is only the first 25 results, includes:

  • Mage spells: Fire Bolt III and IV, Fireball II, Fire Totem I and Pillar of Flames I, each in batches of 20 charges.
  • Eternal Fireball I: 25 amber together with 25 Charcoal, 3 Bronze Bars and 5 Petrified Shroud Stalker Shell, crafted at the Alchemist with an Alchemy Station.
  • Weapons and armor: Draconian Bow, Cryptic Wand, Golden Recruit Axe, Ghostly Shield, Jezmina's Apotheosis, Cutthroat Gloves, Healer Tunic, Mage Chest and Adventurer Chest.
  • Furniture: the Large Boreal Wood and Large Palm Wood Cupboards at 16 amber each, and the Magnificent Granite Table.

Mages burn through the most. Fire spell charges are consumables, and an eternal fire spell costs a full stack's worth of mining in one go. Our guide to eternal spells in Enshrouded explains when that investment pays off.

Where to Find Amber Veins

Revelwood sits in the northwest corner of the map, connected to the Springlands in the south, the Nomad Highlands in the east and the Veilwater Basin in the north. The wiki lists it as a level 10 to 15 biome that requires Flame level 3, with the Blackmire swamp as a sub-region in its northwest for levels 13 to 15. Amber appears in the biome's mining lists alongside Copper Ore and Lump of Clay, and the wiki notes it also shows up in Blackmire's mining lists.

The specific spot the wiki gives is inside the Shroud. The red amber veins sit in the deep Shroud cavity between the Abandoned Hunter Camp and the Hidden Hollow Tomb, north of the Revelwood Ancient Spire. A practical route:

  1. Make your way to the Revelwood Ancient Spire, a clear landmark and a high place to glide from.
  2. Head north from the spire toward the Hidden Hollow Tomb area, keeping the Abandoned Hunter Camp in mind as the other landmark.
  3. Drop into the Shroud cavity between them and look for the red amber veins in the rock.
  4. Mine what you can, then climb out before your timer runs low.

Two 1.0 features make return trips easier. Custom map markers can now be named freely, and the changelog notes that they are visible only to you, so drop one on the cavity entrance and call it something obvious. The game also shows acquisition hints in the details menu of each resource since 1.0, so if you forget where a material comes from, open it in your backpack and read the hint before you set off. Between the marker and the hint, you should never need to search for this cavity twice.

Expect resistance. The wiki says Fell are present throughout Revelwood's Shroud and dominate its eastern Shrouded areas, especially around Pikemead's Reach, and that the biome adds Fell variants such as the Fell Boar, the Fell Spitting Plant and the armored Fell Knight. Clear the area around the veins before you start mining, because a pickaxe is a poor weapon when a Fell Knight walks up behind you.

Prepare for a Shroud Mining Run

Mining in the Shroud is a race against the timer. The wiki's Flame Altar table puts your maximum Shroud time at 7 minutes at Flame level 3, which is where most players are when they first need amber, and adds a minute with each later Flame level. That is enough for one focused trip, not for wandering.

  • Extend the timer. The wiki lists the core skill Inner Fires for more Shroud time. Keen's official tips article also recommends Shroud Survival potions before entering the fog.
  • Grab hourglasses. The 1.0 changelog says hourglass capsules now appear in many more places, add about 70% more time and drop from large Fell after a long fight.
  • Watch for the Fell Curse. Fell attacks can apply a curse that shortens your Shroud time until you cure it. Our guide to getting rid of the Fell Curse explains the tonic and where its ingredient grows.
  • Bring a ranged option. Keen's tips point out that some Shroud enemies fly and are hard to hit with melee, so carry a bow or staff even on a mining trip.
  • Eat first. Food buffs raise health and stamina, and stamina is what every pickaxe swing costs.

If you build a lot of Shroud time into your character, the trips get much easier. Our guide to Enshrouded builds shows how Shroud time skills fit into each playstyle without wasting points.

Mining Faster and Hauling More

Keen made mining less grindy in 1.0. The changelog says the toughness of several mining materials was reworked, especially materials that matter for larger settlements, that pickaxe damage was increased in higher tiers, and that the yield of Archaic Essence from mining was increased for all tiers. Loot handling improved too: holding the interaction button now collects scattered loot nearby, and a gameplay setting can collect it automatically without pressing anything.

  • Mining effectiveness. The official Server Gameplay Settings article lists a mining damage factor from 0.5 to 2. Higher values mean more terraforming and more resources per hit, if your world uses the Custom preset.
  • Resource gain. A separate resource drop factor, from 0.25 to 2, scales materials per loot stack in chests and from enemies.
  • Coming back later. Terrain changes outside a Flame Altar's area reset after 30 minutes or on a restart, according to the wiki. In practice that means the mined cavity fills back in over time, so a good spot can be revisited instead of hunted down again.

Make room in your backpack before you leave. A full inventory deep in the Shroud forces you to choose between amber and everything else, and the default tombstone setting drops your materials where you die. You can recover them from the tombstone, but only by going back into the same Shroud.

Spending Your Amber Wisely

Because amber is used everywhere in the second tier, it pays to set priorities. A sensible order for most players:

  1. Flame level 4 first. 15 amber unlocks more altars, another attribute point and more Shroud time for the whole server, which Keen's tips article highlights as a boost for every player.
  2. Your main weapon line. If you play a mage, fire spell charges and a Cryptic Wand come next. Rangers will look at the Draconian Bow instead.
  3. Armor pieces. The Healer Tunic, Mage Chest, Adventurer Chest and Cutthroat Gloves all ask for 4 to 6 amber each.
  4. Furniture last. Large cupboards at 16 amber apiece can wait until you have a surplus.

Store it where your crafters can reach it. 1.0 lets you craft regular storage chests and magic chests earlier, upgrade chests in place and give them names, and the factory menus show resources available in magic chests. A clearly labeled chest of Revelwood materials next to the Alchemist saves a lot of running. If you are still deciding where that workshop should go, our guide to the best base locations in Enshrouded covers how to pick a spot near the materials you need most.

Skip the Mining Trips

Amber is only one of dozens of materials you will haul home in a full playthrough. If you would rather keep your Shroud time for exploring, the store's resource storage service hands over a Resource Storage building that holds all of the game's resources, laid out in separate chests for quicker access.

It is a PC-only service. The other Enshrouded options, including a modded save that also works on PS5, are on the Enshrouded services page.
