The Exotic class items in Destiny 2 are Relativism for Hunters, Stoicism for Titans and Solipsism for Warlocks, and each one rolls two "Spirit of" perks borrowed from other Exotics, but only works while a Prismatic subclass is equipped. You earn your first copy by completing the Dual Destiny mission in the Pale Heart with a two-player fireteam, which needs The Final Shape; after that, replays, a weekly bonus, Overthrow chests and occasional Xûr offers give you more rolls to sift through. As of November 2026 they remain the centerpiece of most Prismatic builds.
We checked this against Bungie's Update 9.0.0.1 and 9.7.0 patch notes, the Dev Insights abilities and armor preview, Bungie Help's Monument of Triumph FAQ, and Blueberries' Exotic class item and Relativism guides in November 2026.
The Three Class Items and How They Roll
Exotic class items arrived with The Final Shape in June 2024 as a new kind of Exotic. Instead of one fixed perk, each drop picks one perk from a left column and one from a right column, and every perk is a "Spirit" of an existing Exotic, such as Spirit of the Assassin from Assassin's Cowl or Spirit of the Claw from Claws of Ahamkara. That turns a single armor slot into two half-strength Exotic effects, which is why the right pair can define a whole build.

There is a firm restriction. Blueberries notes that the class items only work while you have a Prismatic subclass equipped, and Bungie's Monument of Triumph FAQ confirms Prismatic is unlocked by progressing The Final Shape campaign in the Pale Heart, which requires owning that expansion. Without The Final Shape, these items are not an option at all.
Their stats work differently from other Exotics too. When The Edge of Fate launched, Update 9.0.0.1 converted every copy of Stoicism, Solipsism and Relativism, including ones already in your vault, to Armor 3.0. The archetype of each class item is determined by its left-column perk, and its tertiary stat by its right-column perk. They also lost the Exotic Artifice upgrade and any Artifice mod slot they had.
Monument of Triumph kept that behavior. When Bungie added six new armor archetypes in June 2026, its Dev Insights article said almost every Armor 3.0 drop can roll them, with the Exotic class items as the only exception: they keep their existing stat roll rules. So a perk pair still implies a particular stat spread, which is worth remembering before you dismantle a duplicate.
Unlocking Your First One in Dual Destiny
Dual Destiny is an Exotic mission in the Pale Heart, and it has an unusual rule: it requires a fireteam of exactly two. According to Blueberries, going in solo or as a trio does not work, and completing it is the only way to get your first class item. The item you receive matches the class you play, so a Titan earns Stoicism, a Hunter earns Relativism and a Warlock earns Solipsism.
Because the mission is built around two players cooperating on puzzles, plan it with someone you can communicate with. If no friend is available, Fireteam Finder, the in-game LFG tool on the roster screen, is the place to look for a partner. Each class needs its own clear to unlock its class item, so a player with three characters will run it three times.
If you are returning after a break and do not yet own The Final Shape, Destiny 2: The Collection bundles it with every other expansion and pack. Our expansion order guide explains what each purchase includes and why The Final Shape is the one Prismatic players need.
Farming More Copies
Once you have the first one, Blueberries lists several ways to get more. Every replay of Dual Destiny awards another class item, and a weekly challenge shown on the Pale Heart map grants an extra one once per week, so your first run after each reset is worth two.

Overthrow in the Pale Heart is the second route. Generic world chests do not count, but opening Overthrow chests gives an increasing probability of a class item, with higher chest tiers granting more. It is slower than replaying Dual Destiny but works solo, which makes it a good fit for evenings when your partner is offline.
The third route is Xûr. Blueberries reports that Update 8.5.0.2, released on August 20, 2024, let him sometimes sell randomly rolled class items for 41 Strange Coins, replaced by an Exotic Cipher offer when it is not available, provided you have unlocked the item through Dual Destiny on that class. His stock has changed several times since, so check his Strange Gear offers every Friday rather than counting on it. Our Strange Coin guide explains how to keep enough coins on hand.
Blueberries also describes an Exotic class item attunement feature added in Episode 2 that lets you favor one perk at a time while farming. Even with it, expect to open many copies before you land both perks you want.
Perk Pools by Class
Some Spirits appear on all three items. Blueberries' tables list Spirit of the Assassin, Spirit of the Star-Eater, Spirit of the Inmost Light, Spirit of the Synthoceps, Spirit of the Ophidian and Spirit of Verity on every class, with Spirit of Apotheosis and Spirit of the Claw shared between Hunters and Warlocks.
The class-specific perks give each item its identity. Relativism can roll Spirit of the Dragon, Spirit of Galanor, Spirit of the Foetracer, Spirit of Caliban and Spirit of Renewal on the left, with Spirit of the Cyrtarachne, Spirit of the Gyrfalcon, Spirit of the Liar, Spirit of the Wormhusk and Spirit of the Coyote on the right. Solipsism adds rift perks such as Spirit of the Stag and Spirit of Vesper, plus Spirit of the Filaments, Spirit of the Necrotic, Spirit of Osmiomancy, Spirit of Harmony, Spirit of Starfire and Spirit of the Swarm.
Stoicism leans into barricades and melee: Spirit of Severance, Spirit of Contact, Spirit of Hoarfrost, Spirit of the Horn, Spirit of Alpha Lupi, Spirit of Scars, Spirit of the Eternal Warrior, Spirit of the Abeyant, Spirit of the Bear and Spirit of the Armamentarium for an extra grenade charge.
Rolls Worth Keeping
For Hunters, Blueberries highlights three Relativism pairs. Spirit of Caliban with Spirit of the Liar combines the huge counterpunch from Liar's Handshake with ignitions on powered melee kills, making one of the strongest area-damage setups. Spirit of the Ophidian with Spirit of the Wormhusk is a PvP-friendly mix of fast weapon readying and healing on dodge. Spirit of Renewal with Spirit of the Cyrtarachne stacks damage reduction from Duskfield grenades and Woven Mail for an extremely durable Hunter.
Recent patches changed some Spirits. Update 9.7.0 increased the Spirit of the Star-Eater benefit for Twilight Arsenal on Stoicism to 50 percent from 25 percent, and reworked Spirit of the Wormhusk on Relativism so multikills grant Burning Souls and dodging while it is active strongly cures you and nearby allies. Earlier, The Edge of Fate gave Stoicism's Spirit of Alpha Lupi a new perk that grants class ability energy when you heal allies, updated Relativism's Spirit of the Dragon, and made Solipsism's Spirit of Starfire inherit the base Exotic's changes.
When judging a roll, decide on the build first. A pair that looks average on paper can be the missing piece for a specific Prismatic setup, and our builds guide shows which Aspects and abilities each class leans on in the final sandbox. Pair the class item with Legendary armor set bonuses that support it; the set bonus guide lists strong options.
What the Final Update Means for Class Items
Monument of Triumph was announced as the last live-service content update, so the perk pools above are effectively final. No new Spirits are planned, and a roll that is strong now should stay strong unless a hotfix touches it.
The update's wider Exotic armor change is worth understanding precisely. Bungie gave all Armor 3.0 Exotic armor Tier 5 stats and access to every tuning mod, applied retroactively except for Collections rolls, while saying in the same article that the class items keep their existing stat roll behavior rather than adopting the new archetypes. If you are unsure how a particular copy rolled, compare it in your inventory before deciding which duplicate to keep.
Several base Exotics that lend their Spirits were reworked too, including Caliban's Hand, Wormhusk Crown and Shards of Galanor, so it is worth re-testing old favorite pairs rather than assuming they behave the way they did in 2025.
Want a Prismatic-Ready Character?
Landing the exact two Spirits you want can take dozens of Dual Destiny runs on each class, on top of owning The Final Shape. If you would rather start with that groundwork done, the store's Destiny 2 hub lists accounts from independent sellers that often mention owned expansions, Exotic counts and finished builds, and those listings change daily. Bungie's Terms of Use, however, say accounts may not be sold, traded or otherwise transferred unless Bungie specifically permits it.
