Blood of Dawnwalker New Game Plus: Status in Nov 2026

As of November 2026, The Blood of Dawnwalker does not have a New Game Plus mode, but Rebel Wolves has confirmed one is coming. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said so on a livestream in September, without giving a date, and the first major patch (update 1.1 on October 22) did not include it. Here is exactly what has been said, what 1.1 added in its place, and how to get the most out of a second run until the mode arrives.

For this post we read the MP1st and GamingBolt reports on the livestream, the update 1.1 coverage from Push Square, Game Informer and KeenGamer, and the PowerPyx trophy roadmap, all checked in November 2026.

What Rebel Wolves Has Said About New Game Plus

The confirmation came less than two weeks after launch. MP1st reported on September 17, 2026 that Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the game director at Rebel Wolves, confirmed the mode during a livestream, quoting him as saying "And then there's this New Game Plus. That's how it'll be." GamingBolt covered the same remarks a day later from a PlayStation stream, using a GamesRadar translation that reads "It's coming. But I won't tell you when."

The two quotes differ because they are translations of the same comments, but both outlets agree on the key points: the mode is planned, there is no release window, and no details were given about what carries over or how the game's time limit will work in a second run. MP1st suggested it would likely land with one of the game's major updates. GamingBolt added context from the same period: the game had sold one million copies, a roadmap for post-launch additions was still pending, and the studio was reportedly exploring a sequel that might drop the time mechanic depending on how well it fits.

So the honest status is simple. New Game Plus is confirmed, it is not in the game, and there is no official date. If you see a site claiming a specific release day, check whether it links to anything from Rebel Wolves or Bandai Namco. Community mods that imitate the feature on PC are not official, and we do not recommend them.

Why Players Are Asking for It: The 30-Day Clock

New Game Plus matters more here than in most open-world RPGs because of the calendar. Coen has 30 in-game days after the Prologue to rescue his family from Brencis. Time moves forward when you complete certain quest objectives, wait, fast travel, switch between day and night, or learn some abilities. Exploring, looting and searching for clues do not cost time, but nearly every meaningful step does.

The result is that no single playthrough sees everything comfortably. The Steam page itself sets the expectation: "You will not have time for everyone." Players who spent their first run on Anca's, Lacra's and Crake's chains can reach the final quest with large parts of the side content untouched, and players who rushed the story missed the companion arcs. A carry-over mode would let you go back for the content you skipped with a character who no longer needs to grind. MP1st made the same point: the 30-day limit may have left some players unable to finish everything before saving Coen's family.

Length estimates show why one run feels short of complete. AllThingsHow puts the main story at roughly 30 to 40 hours and a full playthrough at about 55 to 70 hours, while PowerPyx estimates 40 to 60 hours for the platinum. Those are big numbers to fit inside a single in-game month, and every hour spent on one companion is an hour of calendar not spent on another. A mode that let you start again with your levelled character would make that second month far less of a grind, which is why the community was already asking for it within two weeks of launch.

The clock is also why the game has so many endings. If you are trying to see them all from one save, our rundown of all seven endings shows where to branch so you do not have to replay the opening hours.

What Update 1.1 Added Instead

Update 1.1 arrived on October 22, 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with more than 1,100 fixes and improvements. It did not add New Game Plus, but several of its changes make a second run in the same save far more flexible than it was at launch.

  • Draught of Mind Rebirth. This new item lets you forget all of your Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism abilities and use that learning time to master a different set. At launch, skill choices were permanent, so this is the closest thing the game has to a fresh build.
  • A new Story difficulty. The old Story setting was renamed Forgiving, and a new, easier Story mode with more combat assistance sits below it.
  • Shared day and night presets. Items can now be equipped in both the day and night equipment presets at the same time.
  • Merchant buyback. If you sell something by mistake, you can buy it back, and equipped items are hidden from the sell list.
  • Balance changes. Upgrade costs were rebalanced, especially at higher levels, and boars and wolves have less health at higher levels.

The patch also fixed progression blockers in Midnight Reckoning, Stronger Than Achilles and A Hero's End, so if one of those quests stalled for you at launch, it is worth loading that save again. The Draught in particular changes how you should think about builds; our best build guide for each skill tree covers which setups are worth trying now that respeccing exists.

What Happens When You Finish the Game Today

Without New Game Plus, the end of the story is a hard stop. Every ending returns you to the title screen; there is no free roam after the credits. To keep playing, you load a save from before the final quest.

That makes your save habits the real replay system. PowerPyx lists 54 manual save slots, plus 5 rotating quicksaves and 6 rotating autosaves. The rotating slots overwrite themselves, so anything you want to return to later should go in a manual slot. Good branching points are the start of the open world after the Prologue, the moment before you take on each of Brencis's lieutenants, and the point just before the final quest, A Deal with the Devil.

The trophy list is designed around this too. The PowerPyx roadmap puts the minimum at one playthrough for the platinum, with careful saves covering every missable. You do not need New Game Plus for any trophy, and the full plan is in our trophy and achievement roadmap.

How to Make a Second Run Feel Fresh Right Now

If you have finished the story and want more before the mode arrives, these options work today without mods:

  1. Branch from an early manual save. Load your earliest open-world save and pick a different companion questline. Lacra's and Crake's chains lead to different endings.
  2. Swap your whole build. Drink the Draught of Mind Rebirth and switch from a sword-focused Coen to a Witchcraft or claw-focused one. The day and night halves of the game play very differently depending on where your points sit.
  3. Raise the difficulty. Duelist removes the directional indicators and makes enemies far more aggressive and harder hitting, while giving Coen much less stamina. A fresh Duelist start is also the only way to earn the Uphill Battle gold trophy.
  4. Chase the early endings. A Hero They Deserve and Together Forever are both reachable from mid-game saves and show sides of the story most players never see.
  5. Clean up the open world. Towers, Brencis's banners and the Vrakhiri transports are tracked by trophies, which gives you a checklist to work through.

Each of these keeps you inside the game as Rebel Wolves designed it, which matters if you care about trophies or achievements that could be affected by third-party tools.

What We Still Do Not Know

Plenty of open questions remain, and we would rather list them than guess. Rebel Wolves has not said what carries over (level, skills, gear, money or all of them), whether the 30-day limit will be loosened or reset, whether it will arrive as a free update, or whether it will come with new enemy types. There is also no word on a separate trophy or achievement for it. When an official answer comes, it is likely to appear in the patch notes on the platform stores and on the publisher's news pages.

If you have not bought the game yet and are wondering whether a bigger edition makes more sense for a long-term player, our comparison of every edition explains what each one actually includes. The editions differ in physical and digital extras rather than quests, so waiting for New Game Plus does not change which edition you need.

Starting Strong Without New Game Plus

The main appeal of New Game Plus is starting over with a character who is already powerful. Until the official mode arrives, the store's Blood of Dawnwalker starter save offers something similar for PS5 and PC: a new file where Coen is at the level 50 cap, every skill tree is open, and legendary weapons and armor sets are already collected, so you can spend the 30 days on the quests you missed. The save does not include the game.

The rest of the store's services for this game, including the PS5 platinum service, are on the Blood of Dawnwalker store hub.
