The Blood of Dawnwalker comes in four editions: Standard, Day One, Eclipse and Collector's. Every edition contains the same base game and the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set pre-order bonus; the differences are physical collectibles (a SteelBook, a world map, a Coen figurine and a hardcover book) and a set of digital extras called the Eclipse content. On Steam in the US, the Standard Edition is $69.99 and the Eclipse Edition $79.99 as of November 2026, and owners of the base game can add the Eclipse content separately.
We confirmed the edition contents against Bandai Namco's official edition guide and the live Steam store page, and the gameplay notes against PowerPyx and the update 1.1 coverage from Push Square, all in November 2026.
All Four Editions Side by Side
Bandai Namco published the official breakdown on August 18, 2026, a couple of weeks before the game launched on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Two editions are physical only, one is digital only, and the Standard Edition comes in both formats.

| Edition | Format | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Digital or physical | Base game, pre-order bonus |
| Day One | Physical | Base game, SteelBook, World Map, pre-order bonus |
| Eclipse | Digital | Base game, Digital World Compendium, Digital Comic Book, Digital Soundtrack, pre-order bonus |
| Collector's | Physical | Base game, SteelBook, textured World Map (33 x 40 cm), PureArts Coen Figurine (23 cm), 60-page hardcover World Compendium, Eclipse digital content, pre-order bonus |
The key takeaway is that nothing in any edition changes how the game plays. There are no extra quests, regions or weapons locked to the pricier versions. Your choice is about collectibles and lore extras, not content. That also means you will never be locked out of a trophy, an ending or a romance because you bought the cheapest version, and post-launch patches such as update 1.1 apply to the base game that every edition shares.
Standard and Day One: Same Game, Different Box
The Standard Edition is the base game plus the pre-order armor set, sold both digitally and on disc. It is the version most players need, and it is the one the Steam page lists first, at $69.99 in the US when we checked.
The Day One Edition is a physical-only first print. It adds a SteelBook case and a World Map to the Standard contents, and Bandai Namco's guide states it was sold at the same price as the Standard Edition. The catch is availability: Bandai described it as a first print "available while stocks last," so once retailers sell through, it is gone. If you are buying a disc and still see a Day One copy at the Standard price, there is no reason not to take the free SteelBook and map.
Whatever format you choose, the game has since received update 1.1, released October 22, 2026, which added a new Story difficulty, the Draught of Mind Rebirth respec item and more than 1,100 fixes, so make sure it installs before you start a new save. Our difficulty settings guide explains the reworked presets that patch introduced.
Eclipse Edition: Digital Extras and the Upgrade Path
The Eclipse Edition is the digital deluxe version. Steam lists its contents as the full game plus a Digital World Compendium, a Digital Soundtrack and a Digital Comic Book. It was $79.99 on Steam in the US as of November 6, 2026, ten dollars more than the Standard Edition.

You do not have to decide at purchase time. Bandai Namco's guide confirms the Eclipse digital content can be bought as an upgrade on top of the Standard and Day One editions, and Steam sells it separately as "The Blood of Dawnwalker - Eclipse Edition Content," priced at $14.99 when we checked. That makes the bundled Eclipse Edition the cheaper route if you already know you want the extras, and the separate upgrade the better route if you would rather finish the game first and decide later.
The Compendium and comic are the main draw for lore fans. The game is set in a 14th-century Europe where vampires have stepped out of the shadows during the Black Death, and its characters carry a lot of history that the main story only touches on. If the companions are what pulled you in, our guide to the three romance options covers Anca, Lacra and Crake in detail.
Collector's Edition: The Physical Collectibles
The Collector's Edition is the top tier and a limited run, according to Bandai Namco. It is physical only and stacks everything:
- The base game and the pre-order armor set.
- A SteelBook case.
- A textured World Map measuring 33 x 40 cm.
- A 23 cm Coen figurine made by PureArts.
- A 60-page hardcover World Compendium, the printed counterpart to the digital one.
- All of the Eclipse digital content: the digital Compendium, Comic Book and Soundtrack.
Because it was a limited production, availability now depends on retailer stock and the secondhand market rather than the publisher. If you are hunting for one, check the current listing in your own country rather than trusting older price round-ups, which were written before stock ran down.
The Pre-Order Armor Set: Does It Still Matter?
Every edition shipped with the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set as a pre-order bonus. Bandai Namco's wording is important here: pre-ordering grants early access to the set, but every player can obtain it later in the game. So if you missed the pre-order window or bought a used copy, you have not lost it for good.
In practice, the set is a head start rather than an endgame option. The strongest armor in the game comes from quests such as A Bulwark Against Darkness, which forges the Arbiter set, and from boss drops like Ambrus's Cuirass. Our best armor guide compares every legendary chestpiece, so you know what to replace the Wayfarer's set with once you reach the open world.
Platforms and PC Requirements
The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and PowerPyx confirms there is no PS4 version. On PC it is sold on Steam, which lists these requirements as of November 2026:
- Minimum: Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-11400F or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 with 6 GB of VRAM, and 60 GB of SSD storage.
- Recommended: Windows 10, an Intel Core i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X, 16 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA RTX 4060, Radeon RX 7600 XT or Intel Arc B580 with 8 GB of VRAM, and 60 GB of SSD storage.
The game runs on Unreal Engine 5. Update 1.1 also updated FrameGen on PC with dedicated settings, and removed the blood and gore censorship from the Japanese Steam version. KeenGamer notes one known issue from that patch: switching FrameGen from Off to On can crash the game on an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT.
Which Edition Should You Buy?
For most players, the Standard Edition is the right call. It is the full game, it gets every patch, and you can add the Eclipse extras later if you fall in love with the world. Buy the Eclipse Edition upfront only if you already know you want the soundtrack, comic and Compendium, since bundling them works out cheaper than the separate upgrade. If you prefer discs, a Day One copy at the Standard price is a free upgrade while stock lasts, and the Collector's Edition is strictly for people who want the figurine and printed book on a shelf.
It also helps to know how much game the base purchase gives you before paying extra for anything. AllThingsHow estimates roughly 30 to 40 hours for the main story and about 55 to 70 hours for a full playthrough, and PowerPyx puts the platinum at 40 to 60 hours. Critics were broadly positive: the Steam page quotes a 10 out of 10 from Vice, 9.5 from Destructoid and 9 from IGN, and GamingBolt reported in September that the game had sold one million copies. All of that applies equally to the cheapest edition, since the extras never touch the game itself.
Parents and anyone buying the game as a gift should also note the content warning on the Steam page. The developers describe it as containing some nudity or sexual content, frequent violence or gore, and general mature content. The romances include sex scenes, and feeding on humans is a core mechanic at night, so this is firmly an adult game whichever box it comes in. If you are buying for yourself and want a sense of what the moment-to-moment play asks of you before choosing, the difficulty options are generous since update 1.1, with a new Story preset aimed at players who mainly want the narrative.
One last thing that has not changed with any edition: New Game Plus is confirmed by Rebel Wolves but not yet in the game, and there is no word that it will be tied to a specific edition. Our New Game Plus status update tracks what the studio has said.
Getting More Out of Whichever Edition You Own
Whichever version you buy, the time limit, the grind for levels and the long trophy list are the same. The store's Blood of Dawnwalker section collects the services available for the game: a modded starter save for PS5 and PC that starts you at level 50 with all skill trees unlocked and legendary weapons and armor sets acquired, and a PS5 platinum trophy service. Neither includes the game itself, so you still need one of the editions above.
