Blood of Dawnwalker All Endings: How to Get All 7

The Blood of Dawnwalker has seven endings: four main endings (The Turncoat, The Folk Hero, The Patricide and The Knyazmaker), two early endings (A Hero They Deserve and Together Forever) and one bad ending that triggers when the 30-day clock runs out. Which one you get depends on whose questlines you finish, what you say in the final quest, and whether you leave the valley or give in to a dream before the story is done. This guide lists every ending, its requirements and the cleanest order to see them all.

We checked the requirements against the PowerPyx endings guide and trophy roadmap and the Steam global achievement stats in November 2026. Spoiler warning: the rest of this page names ending titles, final quest choices and the fate of Coen's family.

How the Endings Are Structured

The whole game runs on a countdown. After the Prologue, Coen has 30 in-game days to rescue his family from Brencis, the vampire ruler of Vale Sangora. PowerPyx notes that the main quests plus the Court Activities take under ten days on their own, so the deadline is mostly a pressure on how much side content you squeeze in, not a threat to a focused run.

The endings split into three groups. The four main endings all go through the final confrontation with Brencis and save the people of Laslea, Coen's home village. The two early endings close the story before the final quest. The bad ending is what happens if the calendar runs out. The difference matters for trophies: the early endings count for the gold trophy The Blood of Dawnwalker (finish the story), but only the four main endings count toward Uphill Battle, the gold trophy for beating the game on Duelist difficulty.

One more structural point that surprises players: finishing an ending sends you back to the title screen. There is no free roam afterwards, so you see other endings by reloading earlier saves. That is why a manual save before the last quest is the single most useful thing you can do. The game gives you 54 manual slots, so there is no reason to overwrite one.

The Four Main Endings at a Glance

Every main ending begins with the same prerequisites in the story, then branches on which allies you have built up and how you speak to Brencis. Here is how they compare, using the trophy grades from the PowerPyx list.

  • The Folk Hero: defeat the three main bosses (Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe), ignore Lacra and Crake, and in the first dialogue of the final quest choose "Enough. Time to End this." Coen faces Brencis alone.
  • The Patricide: complete Lacra's questline (A Friend Like This, Song of the Mountain, Hive and Seek and Our Rotten Roots), then the ending quest Midnight Reckoning, which you start by speaking to Lacra with the objective active. The Night of Horrors is optional here.
  • The Knyazmaker: complete Crake's questline (The Firebrand, Shadows in the Woods, Where Loyalty Lies, What Hunts the Night, What Moves the Dead and Who Pulls the Strings), then the ending quests Rise at Dawn and Fall Before Dusk.
  • The Turncoat: betray your allies and accept Brencis's deal, covered in detail in the next section.

Lacra and Crake both have romance scenes in their chains, but the endings do not depend on them. If you want both the ending and the scene, our walkthrough of all three romance options shows which optional quest holds each romance.

The Turncoat and the Final Quest, A Deal with the Devil

The Turncoat is worth understanding first because it is the shortest route through a Duelist run. PowerPyx's roadmap recommends it for exactly that reason: taking Brencis's deal skips the final boss fight entirely.

To set it up you need three things. First, defeat Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe inside the 30 days. Second, in the Prologue quest Withering Away, make Esme's medicine correctly before time runs out (hot water and three spoonfuls of herbs). Third, finish The Firebrand, Shadows in the Woods and Where Loyalty Lies, then interact with the Manumit hideout door at night during or after Where Loyalty Lies.

In the final quest, A Deal with the Devil, choose "I just want my family back." first, then pick "I'll do it" in the third dialogue. Avoid the sword option, which makes Coen attack Brencis on the spot and sends you down a combat ending instead. The betrayal is also available from inside the Lacra and Crake endings: during Lacra's, the line is "I accept your offer. I'm sorry, Lacra", and during Crake's it is "Please, maybe we can come to an agreement."

The Turncoat also pairs with the gold trophy In the Nick of Time, which you earn by rescuing your family within the 30-day limit with any main ending. On Steam, only 9.6 percent of players had The Turncoat when we checked the global stats, against 18.2 percent for The Folk Hero and 10.0 percent for The Knyazmaker, so the less obvious routes are still being seen by a small share of players.

The Two Early Endings

Both early endings are easy to trigger by accident, which is why they are worth knowing about even if you have no interest in them.

A Hero They Deserve is the "walk away" ending. At night, after the Prologue and once you have Shadowstep, go to Briar Sloughs, west of the Coward's Path Shrine. Climb the canyon wall with Planeshift and Shadowstep to reach an open gate, then choose "[leave the valley forever]." The story ends with Coen leaving Vale Sangora, and it awards a bronze trophy of the same name.

Together Forever starts on the top floor of Silts Tower, where choosing "[open the door]" begins Home Sweet Home, one of Xanthe's Court Activities. It drops Coen into a dream loop. Each cycle has two enemy groups and an insect boss. Ignore the well, and after four cycles talk to your family at the start of the fifth to accept the dream as reality. If you want to escape instead and continue the story, PowerPyx's advice is to reload the autosave from before the fourth boss fight and follow the well sequence.

Neither early ending counts toward Uphill Battle, so if you are on a Duelist run, stay away from both until you have a main ending in the bag.

The Bad Ending: When the 30 Days Run Out

Time Runs Out is the ending nobody wants. If more than 30 in-game days pass after the Prologue, Coen's family dies in Brencis's castle. It has no trophy. You can trigger it deliberately by waiting at a shrine over and over, but most players reach it by stacking too many side quests, fast travel trips and ability upgrades that cost time.

It is not a game over. You can keep free roaming and still complete other endings. According to a reader report in the PowerPyx comments, the main objective changes to "Avenge your family" and The Turncoat is no longer available, while the faction endings and the solo kill remain open. That last detail comes from player comments rather than the guide itself, so treat it as likely but unconfirmed. What is certain is that In the Nick of Time requires a rescue inside the limit, so a run that hits day 31 cannot earn it.

If the clock is what worries you, lowering the combat difficulty does not slow it down: difficulty only changes fights. Our difficulty settings guide explains exactly what each preset does and does not touch.

The Fastest Order to See All Seven

You can see every ending in one save file if you branch from the right points. This order follows the logic of the PowerPyx roadmap:

  1. Play the Prologue and make Esme's medicine correctly. Keep a manual save at the start of the open world.
  2. Finish the Manumit opening quests and defeat Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe. Aim to be well inside the 30 days.
  3. Finish Lacra's and Crake's questlines up to, but not including, their ending quests.
  4. Make a manual save before A Deal with the Devil. Take The Turncoat first.
  5. Reload and take The Folk Hero, then reload for The Patricide and The Knyazmaker.
  6. Load an older save to trigger A Hero They Deserve and Together Forever.
  7. Last, if you want it, wait out the clock on a throwaway save for Time Runs Out.

The full trophy plan around this order, including Uphill Battle and the collectible trophies, is in our Blood of Dawnwalker achievements walkthrough. And if you were hoping to replay these choices with your levelled-up Coen, there is no New Game Plus yet; our New Game Plus explainer covers what Rebel Wolves has confirmed.

Want to Reach the Ending Without the Grind?

Seeing seven endings means a lot of boss fights against Brencis and his lieutenants. If you would rather replay the choices than the combat, the store's modded starter save for The Blood of Dawnwalker starts you as a level 50 Coen with all skill trees unlocked and legendary gear equipped from the first minute. The file works on PS5 and PC only, and you still need your own copy of the game.

Other services for the game are listed on the Blood of Dawnwalker section of the store.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many endings does The Blood of Dawnwalker have?

Seven: four main endings, two early endings and one bad ending when the 30-day limit expires.

What is the best ending in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

That is a matter of taste, but The Folk Hero, The Patricide and The Knyazmaker all defeat Brencis and save Laslea, while The Turncoat trades your allies for your family.

Can you continue playing after the ending?

No. Endings return you to the title screen, so reload a save from before the final quest to keep playing.

What happens if you run out of time in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

Coen's family dies in Brencis's castle. The game continues, but you lose the In the Nick of Time rescue.

Which ending skips the final boss?

The Turncoat. Accepting Brencis's deal in A Deal with the Devil avoids the final fight.

Do the early endings count for the story trophy?

Yes, they count for The Blood of Dawnwalker trophy, but not for the Duelist difficulty trophy Uphill Battle.
