On PC, the Steam version of Resident Evil Requiem keeps its saves in your Steam folder under userdata\<your user ID>\3764200\remote\win64_save, where 3764200 is the game's Steam app ID, and Steam Cloud syncs that folder. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 there is no folder to browse: saves live in console storage and are protected through each platform's own cloud service or, on PS5, a full console backup to USB. Here is where to look on each platform, how saving works inside the game, and how to back everything up before a risky run.
We checked this against PCGamingWiki, the Steam store listing, PlayStation's official support pages, Nintendo's store listing, Game8's and PowerPyx's guides to the in-game save system, and Wikipedia in November 2026.
Where Requiem Saves on PC
PCGamingWiki lists the Steam save location as <Steam folder>\userdata\<user-id>\3764200\remote\win64_save\. Start from wherever Steam itself is installed on your PC, not from the game's library folder, since the two are often on different drives. The user ID folder is a number tied to your Steam account; if you see more than one, open each and look for a 3764200 folder inside, which is the one that belongs to Requiem.

- Saves: <Steam folder>\userdata\<user-id>\3764200\remote\win64_save\
- Settings: config.ini in the game's install folder, according to PCGamingWiki, so graphics options are stored separately from your progress.
- Steam Deck and Linux through Proton: PCGamingWiki points to the game's compatdata folder, steamapps/compatdata/3764200/pfx/, which mirrors the Windows paths.
- Epic Games Store: PCGamingWiki does not list a save path for the Epic version, and it marks Epic cloud sync for this game as unknown, so check before relying on it.
Steam's store page lists Steam Cloud support for Requiem, and PCGamingWiki marks it as native. That means your progress follows your account to another PC, but it also means a damaged save can sync too, which is why a manual backup is still worth keeping.
How to Back Up Your PC Save
A backup is just a copy of the win64_save folder, but timing matters. Copy it with the game closed, so nothing is mid-write, and after Steam has finished syncing, so the local folder matches what is in the cloud. A simple routine:
- Quit the game completely and wait a moment for Steam to finish its cloud sync.
- Copy the whole win64_save folder to another drive or folder, and name the copy with the date and where you are in the story.
- Keep several dated copies rather than overwriting one, especially before Insanity, a speedrun, or installing mods.
- To restore, close the game, replace the folder with your copy, then launch. If Steam reports a cloud sync conflict, it is asking which version to keep; choose the one you just restored.
Back up before you install anything that changes game files. Our Requiem mods guide explains why mods and patches can clash, and our PC settings guide covers the config side if you are troubleshooting performance at the same time.
How Saving Works Inside the Game
Requiem gives you 12 manual save slots and 3 autosave slots, according to PowerPyx, and there is no chapter select, so those slots are your only way back to earlier areas. PowerPyx recommends keeping a manual save from each region so you can return for missed collectibles later.

- Grace saves at typewriters. Game8's save point list covers rooms such as Room 201, the Guard Office and the Lead Researcher's Office in the care center, plus spots in the basement, courtyard and water treatment plant.
- Leon saves at computers and laptops, but Game8 notes he has no manual saves during his care center sections on a first run, only autosaves. Laptops appear once he reaches Raccoon City, and from your second playthrough they show up as early as the prologue.
- On Standard (Classic) and Insanity, Grace needs an Ink Ribbon for each manual save at a typewriter, per PowerPyx and Wikipedia. Finishing the game in under four hours unlocks the Infinite Ribbon, which PowerPyx says allows unlimited saves on Insanity.
Because PCGamingWiki lists that single win64_save folder as the game's save location, restoring an older copy of the folder rolls back every slot at once rather than one slot at a time. If you want to keep progress from a newer run, finish what you need on it before restoring an older folder.
What Your Save Carries Into a New Game
Requiem has no traditional New Game Plus, according to both Game8 and PowerPyx, so a finished save matters mainly for what it unlocks. Starting a new game after a clear keeps only a few things: the files you have read, the Mr. Raccoon memoriams you destroyed, items bought in the bonus menu and Grace's charms. Weapons, upgrades, crafting recipes and Leon's charm reset. Bonus content you buy with CP in the Special Content menu, such as infinite ammo, stays available for every later run.
That has two practical consequences for backups. First, restoring an older backup may also roll back bonus purchases and collectible progress made since that copy, so date your backups and note what you had unlocked. Second, one optional challenge depends on carry-over directly: IGN's Final Puzzle guide notes that an item kept in Grace's item box at the end of a run is still there when you start the next one, which is how that puzzle's key item crosses playthroughs. If you are working on it, back up both before and after the run that collects the item. Our puzzle solutions guide walks through it.
PS5: Cloud Storage and USB Backups
PS5 saves cannot be browsed as files, and PlayStation's storage guide shows that saved data for PS5 games can go to cloud storage but not to a USB drive on its own. There are two ways to protect a Requiem save on PS5.
The first is PlayStation Plus cloud storage, which requires a PlayStation Plus membership and holds up to 100 GB of PS5 saved data, according to PlayStation Support. To sync automatically, go to Settings, then Saved Data and Game/App Settings, then Saved Data (PS5), then Sync Saved Data, and turn on Auto-Sync Saved Data. For a manual upload, highlight the game on your home screen, press the options button and choose Upload/Download Saved Data. You can check whether a game has synced through Sync Saved Data, then View Sync Status.
The second is a full console backup to a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, under Settings, then System, then System Software, then Back Up and Restore. PlayStation warns that restoring erases everything on the console, that trophies are not included in the backup, and that backed-up data is tied to your PlayStation account, so this is a safety net for the whole console rather than a quick way to swap one save.
Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2
On Xbox there is no save folder you can open from the dashboard. Your progress is tied to your Xbox profile and managed by the console itself, so the files cannot be copied out or swapped by hand the way they can on PC.
On Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo's store listing for Requiem lists support for Save Data Cloud, the Nintendo Switch Online backup feature. Wikipedia's Nintendo Switch Online article notes that cloud saves let supported games restore progress on another console or after moving a Nintendo Account, and that you lose access to them if your subscription lapses, with a six-month grace period to renew before they are purged. Keep the membership active if you rely on it.
Neither Capcom's official site nor its products page mentions cross-save or cross-progression for Requiem, so treat each platform's saves as separate. There is also no PS4 version to carry a save from, as PowerPyx notes.
Troubleshooting Missing or Broken Saves
Many "lost save" problems on PC come down to looking in the wrong place or the cloud overwriting something. Work through these in order:
- Check that you are in the right user ID folder. Shared PCs often have several, and only one will contain your 3764200 folder.
- If a restored save keeps reverting, a newer cloud copy is winning. Watch for Steam's conflict prompt at launch and choose your restored files.
- If the game will not load a slot, try your other manual slots and the three autosaves before restoring a backup, since a single bad slot does not mean the whole folder is gone.
- On PS5, open Sync Saved Data, then View Sync Status, to confirm the cloud copy is current before deleting anything on the console.
Before the final choice of the story, keep a dedicated manual save. Our endings guide explains why that save is worth having, and our trophy guide covers which runs to plan around your slots.
Looking for a Save With Everything Already Unlocked?
If backing up and replaying is starting to feel like a chore, the Resident Evil Requiem modded save is a save file that starts you with every weapon unlocked and maxed, infinite ammo, all character upgrades, 500,000 credits and everything in the Special Content and Models tabs unlocked from the beginning of the game.
It is made for PS5 and PC only; its product page says it is not available for Xbox or Nintendo Switch 2, and the game itself is not included. The platinum trophy service is listed alongside it on the Resident Evil Requiem services page.
