Resident Evil Requiem Mods: Best PC Mods and the Risks

Resident Evil Requiem YouTube thumbnail: 15 BEST Resident Evil Requiem PC Mods You Absolutely NEED To Try Out

Modding Resident Evil Requiem happens on PC, and most of it is built on REFramework, the open-source mod loader for Capcom's RE Engine games, which lists Requiem among its supported titles. The most useful mods so far fill gaps in the base game, such as the missing field of view slider, pillarboxed ultrawide cutscenes and HDR tuning, rather than changing the story. This guide covers what exists, what each type of mod does, and the real risks to weigh before you install anything.

We checked this against REFramework's official GitHub page, PCGamingWiki's Requiem article and the mods it links, Capcom's official update notes, PowerPyx's trophy guide, PCGamesN and Game8 in November 2026. We could not load Nexus Mods pages directly, so individual mods are described here only as PCGamingWiki documents them.

REFramework: The Foundation Most Mods Build On

REFramework is a free, MIT-licensed project by the developer praydog that describes itself as a mod loader, scripting platform and VR support layer for RE Engine games. Its GitHub page lists Resident Evil Requiem as supported alongside the Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes, Village and other Capcom titles, and the project's topic tags include re9.

Out of the box it bundles several features that matter for Requiem players:

  • A Lua scripting API and plugin system, which is what many other mods depend on.
  • An FOV slider and ultrawide and aspect ratio fixes, both listed for all supported games.
  • A free camera, scene timescale control, a vignette disabler and a GUI hider, which are popular with screenshot takers.
  • Generic six-degrees-of-freedom VR support for all supported games, an unofficial way to play in a headset.

The project publishes stable releases and separate nightly developer builds for newer game versions. That split is the first hint about the main maintenance issue with modding Requiem: when Capcom patches the game, framework-based mods may need an updated build before they work again.

Linux and Steam Deck players are covered too. REFramework's README includes a separate Proton note for running it through Steam Play, and PCGamingWiki documents where Requiem's Proton prefix lives, under the game's compatdata folder. Expect a little more trial and error there than on Windows, and keep the same backup habits described below.

Quality-of-Life Mods Worth Knowing

PCGamingWiki's Requiem page links a set of mods that each fix one specific annoyance. None of them adds content; they change how the game plays or looks:

  • Skip intro videos: removes the startup logos, listed by PCGamingWiki as an essential improvement.
  • Field of view: the game has no FOV slider, and PCGamingWiki links a mod that changes FOV for various states, since Game8's settings guide confirms the option is missing.
  • Camera perspective toggle: switches between first and third person on the fly instead of going through the options menu.
  • Sensitivity: gives finer control than the in-game camera speed sliders, which PCGamingWiki notes are shared between controller and mouse input, the main reason players who switch between the two want it.
  • Post-processing: disables or tweaks various post-processing effects while you play.
  • Scope fix: addresses the scope being rendered at a low resolution or frame rate.
  • Better Flashlight: lets you customize the flashlight's brightness, color, distance, beam size and shape, falloff and shadow strength.

If you only install one of these, make it the one that fixes your biggest complaint. Each extra mod is another file that can break after a patch, and a lean setup is much easier to troubleshoot. Our PC settings guide covers what the vanilla options can already do, so check it before reaching for a mod.

Ultrawide, HDR and Visual Mods

Ultrawide is the clearest case for modding. PCGamingWiki reports that gameplay supports 21:9 natively with Hor+ scaling, but cutscenes are pillarboxed to 16:9, and that REFramework's aspect ratio fix removes those black bars; a PCGamingWiki editor confirmed it on the opening cutscene of the launch version.

HDR is the second. The game already includes Max Brightness, Min Brightness and Brightness sliders with calibration screens, and PCGamingWiki points HDR users who want more control to RenoDX, a mod it says can improve the HDR experience. Treat it as an enthusiast tool: the built-in calibration is the first thing to adjust, and an HDR mod is only worth it if you have a display that shows the difference.

Visual mods can also cost performance, especially anything that raises rendering resolution for effects such as scopes. If you add one and your frame rate drops, remove it first before you start lowering graphics settings, since you will not know which change caused the slowdown otherwise.

Translation and Accessibility Mods

Capcom's official site lists 14 display languages and 10 voice languages for Requiem. PCGamingWiki tracks community additions beyond those: an Indonesian fan translation, AI-generated translations for Thai and Ukrainian, and a complete Polish AI voice-over. These matter if your language is missing, but expect AI-generated text and voices to be rougher than the official localizations, which is why PCGamingWiki labels them that way.

For players who need comfort options, check the built-in settings before modding. Game8's settings guide points out that the Accessibility tab includes presets for visual clarity and motion sickness, and that camera wobble can be turned down to 0. A mod is only necessary for things the menu genuinely lacks, such as the FOV slider.

Photo Mode or a Free Camera Mod?

Screenshot fans used to need REFramework's free camera for anything beyond the default view, but Capcom added an official photo mode in the March 27, 2026 update, reachable from the pause menu. According to Wikipedia's summary of the feature, it captures the scene at the moment you pause and lets you adjust camera position, angle, zoom and focus, change character poses and facial expressions, and apply stickers, frames and filters before taking the shot.

For most players that removes the need for a camera mod. REFramework's free camera and scene timescale tools offer a different kind of control, such as slowing the action itself, but they come with the update risks covered below. If you just want good-looking captures of Grace and Leon, try the official tool first and only reach for a mod if it cannot frame the shot you want.

You May Not Need a Cheat Mod at All

Many people search for Requiem mods because they want infinite ammo or easier fights. Capcom already sells those as in-game rewards. The Special Content shop, unlocked after your first clear, offers Infinite Ammo for guns for 50,000 CP, the RPG-7 for 15,000 CP, infinite RPG-7 ammo for 35,000 CP and Grace's unbreakable Kotetsu knife for 5,000 CP, according to PCGamesN. Game8 adds that bonuses such as infinite ammo, infinite hatchet durability and infinite RPG-7 ammo can be switched off again in the options menu after you buy them.

These official bonuses also play nicely with achievements and trophies. PowerPyx notes that using Infinite Ammo, the infinite RPG and the unbreakable knife does not disable trophies, and recommends exactly that combination for the Insanity trophy. Our infinite ammo guide covers the resource side, and our length guide explains how many runs it takes to earn that much CP.

The Risks Before You Install Anything

Requiem is a single-player game, according to Capcom's official site, so mods do not affect other players. The risks are to your own install and saves:

  • Updates can break mods. Capcom shipped several title updates between March and June 2026, the latest on June 25, and each one can change the files a mod expects. That is why REFramework keeps nightly builds for newer versions.
  • The game is heavily protected. PCGamingWiki lists Denuvo, VMProtect and Capcom's anti-tamper DRM on every PC version, so treat any mod that hooks into the game's executable as something that may need its own update after each patch.
  • Saves can be damaged, and Steam Cloud can sync a damaged save to every PC on your account. Back up your win64_save folder first; our save file location guide shows where it is.
  • Downloads carry the usual risks. Stick to established mod hosts and read the comments for reports of problems with the current game version.

A sensible order is to back up saves, note your game version, add one mod at a time and launch to test after each. If the game updates, disable mods before you troubleshoot anything else, then re-enable them one by one once their authors catch up. And if the game stops launching after an install, remove the most recent addition first; if that does not fix it, use your launcher's file verification to restore the original game files, then bring back your save backup if anything was lost.

Want an Unlocked Game Without a PC Mod Setup?

If what you really want is everything unlocked rather than visual tweaks, the Resident Evil Requiem modded save is a save file rather than a mod install. It starts you with every weapon unlocked and upgraded to maximum, infinite ammo, all character upgrades maxed, 500,000 credits and everything in the Special Content and Models tabs unlocked, and it works on PS5 as well as PC.

It is not available for Xbox or Nintendo Switch 2, and you still need to own the game. Other Requiem services, including the platinum trophy, are on the Resident Evil Requiem page.
