The next Pokémon GO Community Day is Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time, and it features Pawniard, with a higher Shiny chance and a Special Background version in the wild. Evolve Bisharp into Kingambit during the event or up to four hours afterward to get the exclusive Charged Attack Kowtow Cleave. Bonuses include double Candy, quarter hatch distance, three-hour Incense and cheaper trades, and a few of them run until 9:00 p.m.
Everything here comes from the official Pokémon GO announcements for the November 2026 Community Day, the Twilight Trails season schedule and the October 2026 gameplay update, all checked in November 2026.
How Community Day Works
Community Day is the game's monthly three-hour event built around one featured Pokémon. During the window, that Pokémon appears far more often in the wild, it has a boosted Shiny chance, and evolving its final form within a set window teaches an exclusive move. The idea is to get players outside together at the same time, which is why so many meetups are organized around it.

The Twilight Trails season, which runs from September 8 to December 1, 2026, scheduled three Community Days: a Community Day Classic on September 12, a regular Community Day on October 10, and the November event on the 21st. The official save-the-date post notes that upcoming events are subject to change, so treat the date as confirmed but keep an eye on news posts in the final week for late adjustments.
Since January 2026, featured Community Day Pokémon can also come with a yearly Special Background, so each month's featured Pokémon has a distinct look tied to that year. If you collect backgrounds, that alone is a reason to play the full three hours rather than dropping in for a few catches.
November 21: Pawniard Day in Detail
Pawniard, the Sharp Blade Pokémon, is this month's star. According to the official announcement, it will appear more often in the wild from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and both Shiny and Special Background versions can show up from wild spawns, Lure Modules, Special Research and Field Research.
There are three optional or bonus research paths:
- Special Research ticket (US$1.99 or local equivalent): rewards include three Pawniard encounters with a Special Background, more Pawniard encounters, a Premium Battle Pass and a Rare Candy XL. It has no story or medal. Tickets are nonrefundable except where law or the Terms of Service say otherwise, and you can gift one to a friend at Great Friends level or higher by tapping the ticket in the shop and choosing Gift.
- Field Research: event-themed tasks reward Stardust, Ultra Balls and more Pawniard encounters, again with a chance at the Special Background.
- Community Ambassador Timed Research: checking in to an official meetup unlocks Timed Research with extra Special Background Pawniard encounters and premium rewards.
The post also says a Pawniard Community Day Ultra Ticket Box, containing the event ticket plus five Ultra Balls, will be available in the Web Store. Our Pokémon GO Web Store guide explains which logins the store accepts, which is worth sorting out before event day.
Every Bonus and How to Use It
The event bonuses are where most of the value sits. Here is the full list from the announcement, with a note on how to use each one well.

- Eggs hatch at one quarter the distance when placed in an Incubator. Load every Incubator you have before 2:00 p.m.; a 10 km Egg needs only 2.5 km.
- Double Candy from catches. Catch everything, not only Pawniard, and transfer spares for extra Candy.
- Double chance of Candy XL from catches for Trainers level 31 and up. This is the best time of the month to stock up on Candy XL for powering Kingambit up later.
- Incense lasts three hours (Daily Adventure Incense excluded), so one Incense at 2:00 p.m. covers the whole event.
- Lure Modules last one hour and may attract Pawniard.
- One extra Special Trade, for a maximum of two that day.
- Trades cost 50% less Stardust. Arrange trades with friends in advance.
- Snapshots may unlock a surprise. Take at least one photo during the event.
Some bonuses extend from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. local time. The key one is the Lure bonus: in that window, Pawniard is very likely to appear at PokéStops with an active regular Lure Module, and those Pawniard keep the higher Shiny chance and can still have a Special Background. If you cannot play in the afternoon, an evening session at a Lure still gives you a real shot at a Shiny.
Getting Kingambit With Kowtow Cleave
The featured move is Kowtow Cleave. To get it, evolve Bisharp into Kingambit during the event or within four hours after it ends. The announcement lists Kowtow Cleave at 75 power in Trainer Battles and 85 power in Gyms and raids.
The event also adds a limited-time evolution rule: defeat one Dark-type or Steel-type raid boss while Bisharp is your buddy, and you can then evolve any of your Bisharp into Kingambit. This rule ends at 9:00 p.m. local time on November 21. In practice, the cleanest plan is:
- Before 2:00 p.m., set a Bisharp as your buddy (evolve a Pawniard early if you need one).
- Complete one Dark- or Steel-type raid as soon as you can find one.
- Catch Pawniard during the event, appraise them, and evolve your best into Bisharp and then Kingambit before 9:00 p.m.
A Kingambit with an exclusive move is the kind of Dark-type raid option that can save Stardust for players who lack Megas or legendaries; our best raid attackers guide compares it with the top Dark picks such as Mega Houndoom and Mega Tyranitar.
A Simple Event-Day Game Plan
Three hours go quickly. A little preparation makes a big difference.
- The night before: clear Pokémon storage and bag space, stock Poké Balls and Ultra Balls, and put a Bisharp on your buddy slot.
- At 2:00 p.m.: start Incense, load Incubators, and consider a Lucky Egg if you also have evolutions queued. Catch XP doubles with the egg, and our guide to leveling up fast explains how to stack event catches with evolutions.
- During the event: tap every Pawniard to check for Shinies, and keep an eye out for Special Backgrounds.
- Right after 5:00 p.m.: run 4* and 3* searches with "pawniard" to find your best catches, and evolve the keepers before the window closes. Our IV guide lists the search strings that make this quick.
- Evening: use the 9:00 p.m. Lure bonus for extra Pawniard and finish trades while they are cheap.
November 21 is busier than a normal Community Day, because the Dynamax Trails event puts Eternamax Eternatus on most Power Spots from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time that same day, right before Pawniard starts. During that window Power Spots refresh more often, the Max Particle limit rises to 2,400 and Power Spots give 8x Max Particles. If you want both, plan a late-morning Max Battle session, take a short break to restock, and switch to catching at 2:00 p.m. The daily Remote Raid limit is also raised from 10 to 30 from November 20 at 1:00 p.m. to November 21 at 6:00 p.m. PST, which helps if you need a remote Dark- or Steel-type raid for the Kingambit rule. Our Dynamax and Max Battles guide explains how the Eternatus battles work.
A week later, on November 28, the Clefable Super Mega Raid Day runs from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time. If you built a Kingambit on Community Day, that afternoon is a natural first test for it in raids.
Meetups and Community Ambassadors
Official meetups are worth checking even if you usually play alone, because checking in unlocks the extra Timed Research. The October 2026 gameplay update made this easier: you can check in from the in-game map or a browser. On the map, open the Nearby menu, find the purple Meetup pin, confirm it says "Hosted by a Community Ambassador," and tap Check In. Check-in opens 15 minutes before the meetup starts.
The same update increased spacing between wild Pokémon, Gyms, Power Spots and PokéStops on the map, which helps when a busy park is packed with spawns. If you cannot attend in person, the regular Field Research and the optional ticket still give you Special Background encounters.
Coming In With a Head Start
Community Day rewards players who already have Candy, Stardust and a deep storage to trade from. Some Trainers look at the account listings on our Pokémon GO page, which are posted by third-party sellers and change daily. The game's Terms of Service, from Scopely Explore, put selling or trading accounts on their list of prohibited cheating, so factor that in.
Either way, November 21 is a strong day to bank Candy XL and build a Kingambit, so mark it on your calendar.
