Neverness to Everness Multiplayer and Co-op Guide

Yes, Neverness to Everness has multiplayer: up to four players can share one open world to explore Hethereau, fight field enemies and bosses, race, play mahjong and run the Pink Paws Heist together, and it works across PC, PS5, mobile and Mac. What it does not offer is co-op story play, since main and side quests stay single-player, so NTE multiplayer is best thought of as a shared city and activity layer on top of a solo campaign.

We checked this against GameWith's multiplayer guide (updated September 3, 2026), Game8's multiplayer page and Version 1.5 preview, Final Weapon's Version 1.4 coverage, Gfinity's cross-play guide and the Steam store page in November 2026.

How to Unlock Multiplayer

Multiplayer opens early. GameWith lists the requirement as clearing the main story chapter "Prologue II: Good Business, Better Treasure," and notes that Hunter Level itself is not the gate. Once that chapter is done, the Multiplayer option becomes usable from your phone menu.

Several activities have their own requirements on top of the general unlock, and they are the reason a friend sometimes cannot join a specific game even though you are in the same world:

  • Racing: City Tycoon Level 2 and Hunter Level 17.
  • Mahjong: Hunter Level 11.
  • Tetrominoes: City Tycoon Level 8.
  • Pink Paws Heist: City Tycoon Level 12.

If you are bringing a brand new friend into the game, the heist is the activity they will wait longest for, since City Tycoon Level 12 takes real time. Racing and mahjong arrive much sooner, so they make better first sessions together.

The Steam store page lists Multi-player, Co-op and Online Co-op among the game's features, so this is part of the design rather than an afterthought, even though the campaign itself is solo.

How to Invite Friends or Join a World

There are three ways into a shared session, according to GameWith:

  1. From your Friends list. Add the player as a friend in-game, open the Friends list from the Menu, and choose Invite to Join. Your friend accepts the invitation.
  2. From the phone menu. Select Multiplayer on the second page of the phone menu, where you can send a Request Access to a room.
  3. With other players. You can press the request button next to a player's name or search for someone by UID. Whoever approves the request becomes the host.

Server choice matters before any of this. Gfinity explains that accounts belong to a regional server you pick at login, so two friends on different servers cannot simply meet up. Agree on the server before either of you invests much time.

Platform does not matter in the same way. Gfinity describes full cross-platform support across PC, PS5, iOS, Android and Mac, and Final Weapon's Version 1.4 summary lists cross-platform play on all of them. A PS5 player and a phone player on the same server can share a session. Our release date and platform guide covers how accounts link across devices, including the PS5 login step that trips people up.

What You Can Do Together

GameWith and Game8 list a wide set of shared activities. With up to four players in one world, you can:

  • Explore and fight. Roam Hethereau together, share vehicles, take on field enemies and take photos.
  • Fight bosses. Anomaly Hunt and Anomaly Pilgrimage bosses can be fought cooperatively, and each player claims rewards individually.
  • Claim Nightmare-Bound rewards. The Anomaly Commission rewards called Nightmare-Bound can be claimed once by each player.
  • Race. Game8 notes up to three other players can race you online through the city.
  • Play the mini-games. Mahjong, Tetrominoes, Arcade games and the Pink Paws Heist all support groups.
  • Visit homes. Tour each other's properties and bring companion characters along as guests.

The Pink Paws Heist deserves a word, because it is the activity most groups end up organizing around. Icy Veins' new player guide describes it as a mock heist on the city's bank, one of about a dozen Hethereau hobbies that pay out Fons, the city currency used for cars, furniture and homes. Running it with friends turns a solo money grind into the closest thing NTE has to a group mission, and the Fons are what fund the City Tycoon side of every player's account.

Driving is the other natural fit. The city is large, vehicles can be shared in co-op, and racing friends is far more interesting than racing the NPC field. RPG Site's launch coverage notes that weather such as rain and snow affects drifting and raises the risk of losing control, which makes group races on a wet night genuinely chaotic.

Competitive modes have grown with each version. Version 1.4 added multiplayer support to Volley Star, and Version 1.5 adds Ranked PvP to it. Version 1.5 also brings Full Tank Ahead, a PvP mini-game played with Iron Ogre tanks from November 11 to December 23, and Shadow-N-Seek now fills empty slots with AI bots after long waits. Fight Club is the odd one out: GameWith notes it uses random matchmaking only, so you cannot challenge a specific friend there.

If you are decorating a place to host visits, the guide to every NTE house covers guest slots and which homes hold the most companions.

What You Cannot Do in Co-op

The restrictions are where most confusion comes from, so here is GameWith's list in full:

  • No progress on the main story or any other quests.
  • No Anomaly Commissions appear while in multiplayer.
  • The Anomaly Zone cannot be challenged together.
  • No multiplayer fishing.
  • No built-in voice chat, and text chat is limited to friends.
  • No full matchmaking system, though some activities such as certain Hethereau Hobbies, boss battles and mahjong allow random players.
  • No friend battles in Fight Club.
  • Your Wanted Level does not increase, so there is no prison and no Justice Executioner chase in co-op.

The Anomaly Zone point matters for progression. Rabbit Hole, where Cartridges and Carrota come from, is an Anomaly Zone, so gear farming stays a solo job. Spend your shared time on bosses, races and the heist, and do your stamina runs alone.

The Wanted Level rule is the most unusual one. In solo play, committing crimes raises your wanted level and can lead to police pursuits and a detention center, where you can work off your debt or try to escape. None of that happens with friends in your world, so co-op is not the way to try the game's crime system.

Hosting Rules That Change Your Rewards

The host's world sets the rules, and a few of them affect what guests get out of a session. GameWith lists these:

  • Enemy levels and rewards follow the host's Appraisal Level. A low-level host means easier enemies but smaller rewards for everyone.
  • Teleport Points depend on the host. Points that someone activates mid-session do not carry over to the other players.
  • Some collectibles are host-only. Goodheart Crispy Mouse Cookies and Gifts from 21 go only to the host.

The practical rule is to let the player with the highest Appraisal Level host when you want better drops, and to rotate hosts when you are collecting host-only items so everyone gets a turn. Game8's beginner guide notes that a higher Appraisal Level raises both enemy strength and rewards, so a strong group gains the most from a high-level host.

Boss rewards are the exception to the host rule. Because Anomaly Hunt and Anomaly Pilgrimage rewards are claimed individually, nobody gives up their own drops by joining someone else's world for a boss run, which makes bosses the safest thing to do as a guest.

Making the Most of a Co-op Session

A few habits make group play smoother. Since there is no voice chat in the game, set up voice outside it before you start. Decide on the host by Appraisal Level, and if a friend is new, check the activity unlocks above so you do not plan a heist they cannot join yet.

Timing your sessions around events pays off too. Version 1.5's Gold Cash event doubles Fons from the Pink Paws Heist from November 23 to December 7, which makes it the best window of the version for group heists. The weekly Amber Broodmother boss also returns in 1.5 as an Anomalous Pilgrimage fight that drops Ascension materials for the new characters, and boss fights are one of the activities you can clear together.

Team composition still matters when four players share a fight, because each player brings their own lineup. Our best teams guide covers which characters pull their weight, and the NTE beginner guide is a good link to send a friend who is just starting so they can reach the multiplayer unlock quickly.

Catching Up to Your Friends

Joining friends who are months ahead can be frustrating when the heist needs City Tycoon 12 and their Appraisal Level is far above yours. Some players look at a more developed account instead, and the store's Neverness to Everness listings show accounts from independent sellers, usually marked with the server region and the characters on them; make sure any region matches your friends' server. The listings change daily.

Keep the rules in mind: the NTE Terms of Service prohibit sharing, selling, lending, transferring or giving away an account. A new account reaches the multiplayer unlock within the prologue, so you can start joining friends for races and bosses right away.
