The best teams in Neverness to Everness right now, as of November 2026, are built around three proven cores: Akane Rin with Blackbird, Esper Zero and Iroi for Stain and Charge, Zankou with Daffodill, Blackbird and Sakiri for Break and Discord, and Nanally with Linko, Esper Zero and Sakiri for Hexed damage. If you have no limited characters yet, a Mint, Esper Zero, Skia and Adler lineup is the strongest budget option Game8 lists.
We checked this against Game8's best teams page (updated October 21, 2026), Icy Veins' Esper Cycle guide and tier list, and Game8's Version 1.5 preview in November 2026.
How Esper Cycles Decide Your Team
Every NTE team has four characters, and the reason some combinations work so much better than others is the Esper Cycle. Each character belongs to one of six elements, called Espers: Anima, Chaos, Cosmos, Incantation, Lakshana and Psyche. When a character's Esper Meter is full, swapping to a partner with a matching element triggers an Esper Attack and a reaction.

Icy Veins lists the six duo reactions:
- Blossom (Cosmos and Anima): spawns a turret that shoots enemies in a small area.
- Remora (Cosmos and Lakshana): marks enemies and slows them, including their attack animations.
- Hexed (Incantation and Anima): bursts for damage based on the Anima and Incantation damage the target took in the last few seconds.
- Scorch (Incantation and Chaos): damage over time.
- Nova (Psyche and Chaos): delayed burst damage.
- Stain (Psyche and Lakshana): makes the enemy vulnerable to Psyche and Lakshana damage.
Two trio reactions sit on top of those. Charge happens when a target marked by Remora is hit by Blossom, generating large amounts of Ultimate energy. Discord happens when an enemy has both Scorch and Nova at once, dealing massive Stagger damage. Almost every top team is designed to trigger one of these two trios, or to stack passives on a single reaction. Icy Veins also notes that character support skills buff specific reactions and stack with each other: Jiuyuan, Nanally and Mint all boost Blossom in different ways when they share a team.
The Top Teams in Version 1.4
These are the premium teams Game8 lists as of its October 21 update, with the reaction each one is built around.
- Akane Rin Charge and Stain: Akane Rin, Blackbird, Esper Zero and Iroi, with Sakiri as the substitute for Iroi. Akane Rin (Lakshana) and Blackbird (Psyche) make Stain, Zero adds Remora on Akane Rin's targets, and Iroi's Blossom completes Charge for constant Ultimate energy.
- Zankou Break and Discord: Zankou, Daffodill, Blackbird and Sakiri, with Adler in place of Sakiri if needed. Zankou and Daffodill create Scorch, Daffodill and Blackbird create Nova, and the two together trigger Discord. Icy Veins reports some very fast clears on hard Beyond the Rails stages from Zankou paired with an invested Daffodill.
- Nanally Hexed: Nanally, Linko, Esper Zero and Sakiri. Sakiri provides the Incantation side of Hexed, Linko enhances Hexed damage, and Zero adds Blossom with Nanally.
- Blackbird Stain: Blackbird, Chaos, Hathor and Esper Zero. Two Lakshana damage dealers feed off Blackbird's Stain enhancement, which Icy Veins says increases both the damage buff and the duration of Stain.
Blackbird appearing in three of four lineups is not an accident. Icy Veins rates her S as both a DPS and a support because she boosts two reactions at once and fully charges her Cycle energy with her Redirect Skill, something that used to be unique to Zero. If you have her, most of your teams get easier to build.
The NTE tier list comparison shows how each of these characters ranks on its own, which helps when you are missing one piece and need a substitute.
Teams for Other Limited Characters
If your account's limited pulls went to someone else, Game8 also lists strong cores for every other limited character released so far.

- Shinku Charge: Shinku, Hathor, Esper Zero and Iroi, with Hotori as an option for Zero. Shinku (Cosmos) and Hathor (Lakshana) make Remora, Iroi adds Blossom for Charge, and Icy Veins notes Shinku's own Charge enhancement turns that energy into stacking ATK while she is on the field.
- Hotori Blossom: Nanally, Hotori, Esper Zero and Iroi. Game8 describes it as a Blossom team with a Time Stop burst window.
- Lacrimosa: Lacrimosa and Zankou as damage dealers with Blackbird and Sakiri, built on Scorch, Nova and Discord.
- Chaos Stain: Chaos with Esper Zero or Blackbird, Fadia and Haniel. Fadia and Haniel are both Psyche, so they keep Stain applied for a Lakshana carry.
- Linko: Zankou, Linko, Sakiri and Iroi or Daffodill. Linko's follow-up strikes and Hexed boost add off-field damage to Zankou's Incantation pressure.
- Hathor: Hathor, Esper Zero, Blackbird and Daffodill, combining Remora, Stain and Break.
Two characters show up everywhere: Esper Zero and Iroi. Zero is free and slots into most teams as the Cosmos half of Blossom or Remora. Iroi is the first support who both buffs and heals the team, and Icy Veins calls her a future-proof investment for low spenders because dedicated supports are rare in NTE so far.
Free-to-Play Teams That Work
You do not need limited characters to clear most content. Game8's F2P list is built from free characters and A-class units that appear often on the boards:
- Mint team: Mint as main DPS, Esper Zero as the Cycler, Skia as sub DPS and Adler as support. Mint and Zero make Blossom, Skia adds Remora, and Adler brings Hexed with Mint.
- Skia team: Skia, Mint, Esper Zero and Haniel, running Remora, Blossom and Charge, with Haniel adding Stain.
- Chiz team: Chiz as main DPS with Skia, Mint and Adler or Haniel. Chiz is the free S-class unlocked through City Tycoon, and her copies and signature Arc are free too.
- Esper Zero team: Zero, Mint, Haniel and Sakiri for Blossom and Hexed. Game8 notes this one is really semi-premium because Sakiri comes from the standard board.
The Chiz team has the highest ceiling of the four because Icy Veins confirms you can earn all six of her Awakening shards and five copies of her signature Arc for free. If you are saving your dice for a specific limited character, build Chiz in the meantime.
Running a Rotation
A good lineup only works if you trigger its trio. Icy Veins walks through a sample Charge rotation using Mint, Zero, Hathor and a support:
- Build Esper Meter first. Zero can refill the meter in one go (Icy Veins credits this to Zero's kit in both its meter and rotation sections), which is a big reason Zero is in so many teams.
- Start on Zero or Mint and swap to Hathor for her Esper Attack.
- Swap to Zero to apply Remora to the enemies.
- Swap to Mint to spawn a Blossom, which triggers Charge.
- Every Blossom hit on the marked boss now generates Ultimate energy for whoever is on the field.
The meter is the bottleneck. Icy Veins recommends identifying the slowest character to charge in your team and using that character to parry, since a parry fills the Esper Meter fully. Basic attacking on the field fills it gradually, and skills fill it based on the Cycle Rate stat. Teams that feel weak often have the right characters but are not cycling reactions often enough.
The interface helps more than most players realize. When a character's meter is full, Icy Veins notes that the portraits of party members who can react with that character start to glow, which is your cue to swap. If the portraits rarely glow during a fight, the problem is meter generation, not damage, and more Cycle Rate or more parries will fix it faster than a stronger Arc.
Gearing the Team and What Version 1.5 Changes
Characters set a team's ceiling, but Arcs, Cartridges and Modules decide how close you get to it. Each character has a Console layout where Module shapes have to fit, and Cartridges provide two-piece and four-piece set bonuses when the right shapes are in place. Our guide to getting NTE modules covers how to farm both without wasting stamina.
Version 1.5 may shake up these lists. Elyms arrives on November 11 as a Cosmos Instant Cycle support with the same role and attribute as Esper Zero, and Game8 suggests she may be a direct upgrade to Zero in that slot, which would touch almost every team above. Exe follows on December 2 as a Chaos main DPS with a new Summoner role. Shinku and Chaos also return on rerun boards, which makes the Shinku Charge and Chaos Stain teams easier to assemble for newer players. The banner schedule has the exact dates. Teams also matter outside solo play, since several bosses can be fought with friends, as covered in our NTE multiplayer guide.
Want the Core Characters Without the Wait?
Most of the top teams lean on limited characters like Blackbird, Zankou and Linko who are not on any board right now. If you would rather start with some of those pieces in place, the store's Neverness to Everness listings include accounts from independent sellers, typically labeled with the server region and the S-class characters on them, and the lineup of listings shifts daily.
It is worth knowing that the game's Terms of Service do not permit selling, giving away, lending or transferring an account. The free Mint and Chiz teams above are a solid way to progress while you save for limited characters on your own account.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best team in NTE right now?
Akane Rin, Blackbird, Esper Zero and Iroi is one of the strongest current teams, alongside Zankou, Daffodill, Blackbird and Sakiri for Break damage.
What is the best free team in Neverness to Everness?
Mint, Esper Zero, Skia and Adler is Game8's top F2P lineup. A Chiz team is a strong alternative because her dupes are free.
How many characters are in an NTE team?
Four. You swap between them in combat to trigger Esper Attacks and reactions.
What is Charge in Neverness to Everness?
A trio reaction from Lakshana, Cosmos and Anima. When a Remora-marked enemy is hit by Blossom, you generate large amounts of Ultimate energy.
Is Esper Zero worth using in teams?
Yes. Zero appears in most top teams because Zero can refill the Esper Meter quickly and is the Cosmos half of both Blossom and Remora.
What team should I build for Blackbird?
Pair her with Lakshana carries like Chaos and Hathor plus Esper Zero for Stain, or use her as support in Akane Rin and Zankou teams.
