The Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Battle Pass is a linear 100-tier track that costs 1,100 COD Points for the premium version (or 2,400 COD Points for the bundle with 20 Tier Skip tokens), and it went live with Season 1 on November 6, 2026. You level it with XP from Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone, and a new auto catch-up system moves paid owners to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50.
Everything below comes from Activision's November 5 Battle Pass and BlackCell intel post, the October 28 Season 1 announcement and the Season 1 patch notes, read on November 6, 2026.
How the Season 1 Pass Is Structured
Earlier Call of Duty passes used sector maps where you picked which branch to unlock next. MW4's Season 1 pass drops that for a single straight line from Tier 1 to Tier 100. Activision describes it as more than 100 rewards spread across free and premium tiers, with Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, Finishing Moves, Calling Cards, Charms, Reticles, Double XP tokens, COD Points and DMZ Survival Kits along the way.

The free track still matters. The two new base weapons, the Cronen Osprey assault rifle at Tier 16 and the CSG-35 SMG at Tier 36, are free for everyone, and unlocking each one also grants a DMZ Weapon Manual so you can build the base gun in the DMZ Gunsmith. Everything flagged premium needs a paid pass.
The headline change is auto catch-up. If you own the paid pass and fall behind, the game moves you to the reward that matches the current day of the season, up to day 50. In practice that means a paid owner who logs in only occasionally still collects at least the first 50-plus rewards on schedule, while the second half of the track has to be earned by playing.
Four Ways to Get the Premium Track
Activision lists four routes, and they differ more than the price tags suggest:
- Battle Pass (1,100 COD Points): premium access to all 100 tiers.
- Battle Pass Bundle (2,400 COD Points): premium access plus 20 Tier Skip tokens.
- BlackCell: premium access, 20 Tier Skip tokens and all BlackCell content, including the XERO Operator and BlackCell versions of several tier rewards.
- Vault Edition: includes all BlackCell and Battle Pass content for Season 1, provided you log in during Season 1.
Two details are easy to miss. First, if you buy the normal pass and later upgrade to BlackCell, Activision refunds 1,100 COD Points. Second, Standard Digital owners can upgrade to the Vault Edition later, but only on the same platform where they bought the game. If you are weighing the editions, our Season 1 overview also explains which free content arrived for everyone.
Tier Skips, XP Boosts and Earning Speed
Tiers come from ordinary XP across all three modes, so you can level the pass while grinding camos in Multiplayer or running DMZ deployments. Every way of buying the premium pass includes a 10% Battle Pass XP Boost that lasts the entire season.

Tier Skip tokens work differently from older games. Rather than pushing your position forward, a token lets you claim a reward ahead of where you are: Bundle owners can reach any of the 10 unlocked tiers ahead of their position, BlackCell owners up to 20 tiers ahead. Activision is explicit that spending a token on a higher reward does not change your in-progress position on the track, so skips are a way to grab a specific Blueprint early, not a way to finish faster.
Battle Pass 2XP tokens speed up tier progress, and like every MW4 XP token they pause outside matches, so lobbies and menus do not burn them. The pass itself hands out Player and Weapon 2XP tokens (a 45-minute Weapon token sits at Tier 42, for example), which is handy if you plan to level the Osprey or CSG-35 straight away. For the full picture on token types and sources, our older guide to MW4 Double XP tokens still covers the basics.
Operators and Blueprints Worth Knowing
Blix is the main Battle Pass Operator. His "Downpour" skin is an instant reward when you buy the pass, and his "Vantage" skin is a completion reward. Other Operator Skins on the track include Oh-Ji "Nocturn" (Tier 10), Velikan "Old Guard" (Tier 22), Min-Hee "Patience" (Tier 43), Oh-Ji "Shizen" (Tier 45), Simone "Collision" (Tier 52), Luca "Feral Bite" (Tier 58), Valen "Red Eclipse" (Tier 71), Dallas "Dour" (Tier 81) and a US Special Forces "Naval Special Warfare Classic" skin at Tier 85.
The Blueprint list is long: highlights include the Rezi 12 "Arachnivox" at Tier 4, Kastov 762 "Guardian Best" at Tier 5, Astaroth .57 "Special Delivery" at Tier 25, KG-7 Vulcan "Highkeep" at Tier 50, ISO Nightshade "Ruin Fang" at Tier 66, the Cronen Osprey "Kill Order" at Tier 87 and, at Tier 100, the Ultra rarity Mosin-Nagant "Bellum" with a 9x scope. Blueprints have a side benefit outside cosmetics: the official progression guide notes that owning a Blueprint makes the base weapon permanently available through your whole leveling journey, which changes how you should spend Classic Prestige tokens. We cover that in our Permanent Unlock token guide.
| Tier | Reward | Type |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | "Arachnivox" Rezi 12 | Weapon Blueprint |
| 10 | Oh-Ji "Nocturn" | Operator Skin |
| 16 | Cronen Osprey | Free base weapon |
| 36 | CSG-35 | Free base weapon |
| 42 | 2WXP token, 45 minutes | XP token |
| 58 | Luca "Feral Bite" | Operator Skin |
| 81 | Dallas "Dour" | Operator Skin |
| 100 | "Bellum" Mosin-Nagant | Ultra Weapon Blueprint |
Planning a Realistic Route to Tier 100
Because catch-up stops at day 50, the back half of the track is where casual owners stall. A few habits make the difference without changing how you like to play:
- Stack boosts in the same session. The 10% pass boost is always on, so pair it with a Battle Pass or Player 2XP token on nights you know you will play several matches back to back. Tokens pause in menus, so there is no penalty for a long lobby wait.
- Play the Joint Fire event in a squad. Activision describes an XP boost that increases with squad size, and its rewards include 2XP tokens, which feed straight back into the pass.
- Party XP from cosmetics. The Season 1 Elite Squad: Gaksuli Store bundle grants a 20% Player and Weapon XP boost in a party of two using its skins and 30% in a party of three. It is a Store purchase, not part of the pass, so it only makes sense if you wanted the skins anyway.
- Do your Daily Challenges. They come to Warzone with Season 1 as well, and BlackCell owners get extra dailies that count toward the three needed for the Daily Challenge bonus XP.
- Mix modes freely. Pass XP comes from Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone alike, so the best mode is the one you will actually keep playing.
The practical target is to clear Tier 100 before Season 1 Reloaded, because that is when the bonus skins described below unlock, and finishing late gives you less time to chase them.
Completion Rewards and the Mid-Season Bonus
Finishing all 100 premium tiers unlocks a completion package: the "Vantage" Blix skin, the "Blue Viper" Hyeon Burst Blueprint, 200 COD Points, the animated "Honor's Harbinger" Calling Card, the animated "Virtue's Snarl" Emblem and a "Ballistic Gel Armor Kit" DMZ Survival Kit. The instant rewards on purchase include up to 1,100 COD Points, the "Fortune's Favor" FiNN LMG Blueprint, the "Happy Boom" Frag Grenade skin and the "Killing Demon" sticker.
There is also a delayed bonus. Activision says a set of eight extra Operator Skins becomes available only once two conditions are met: you have unlocked the entire Season 1 pass, and Season 1 Reloaded has started. Details are due in the Reloaded blog, so if those skins matter to you, plan to reach Tier 100 before mid-season.
BlackCell and Store Extras
BlackCell is the premium-plus tier. On top of pass access and 20 Tier Skip tokens, it adds the XERO Operator (with "Cowled" and "Adder" variants earned through challenges), the "Perimeter Lance" M4 Mastercraft Blueprint, the "Dog Food" finishing move with a pet companion, a custom lobby, a BlackCell Mastery Camo track and BlackCell versions of seven Operator Skins and seven Blueprints. In DMZ it adds extra Vendor slots and a daily FOB reward that does not stack, so you lose any day you skip.
Store bundles sit outside the pass entirely. Season 1 bundles include a Ghost skin, a Price skin and a Reece ghillie skin with an adaptive toggle, and some carry DMZ+ perks. The Ghost options are covered in detail in our guide to Ghost skins in MW4. One BlackCell challenge set is a useful example of how rewards tie into camo work: the LMG camo requires 30 longshot kills in Multiplayer, which is easier once you know the class distances in our longshot distance guide.
Leveling Faster With Double XP Codes
The pass rewards time played, and the real bottleneck for most people is the weapon and account leveling that runs alongside it. The store sells Double XP codes for MW4 in hour packs, as Account XP, Weapon XP or both. They are codes, not a service: you redeem them yourself at callofduty.com/redeem on your own Activision account, nobody logs in for you, and they work on any platform linked to that account.
The product page is upfront about the limits. Each code is a 15-minute token, Activision allows one hour of each token type per day, Account XP and Weapon XP are separate tokens, and they are not Battle Pass XP tokens. If you would rather hand off a bigger job such as camos or Prestige, the MW4 store hub lists those services as well.
