Helldivers 2 Vehicles and Exosuits: Every One Explained

Helldivers 2 YouTube thumbnail: How to Exo [A General Helldivers 2 Exosuit Guide]

As of November 2026, Helldivers 2 has nine vehicle stratagems: three Fast Recon Vehicles (FRVs), four exosuits and two tanks. The EXO-45 Patriot and EXO-49 Emancipator exosuits cost 20,000 requisition slips at level 25, the EXO-51 Lumberer and EXO-55 Breakthrough come from the Exo Experts Warbond, and the TD-220 Bastion tank costs 35,000 slips at level 30. This guide covers how to unlock each one, what it does well and the mistakes that get vehicles destroyed.

We checked every cost, cooldown and stat against the community Helldivers Wiki's vehicle pages and Arrowhead's official patch notes and announcements on Steam, from the February 2026 tank release through the October 20, 2026 patch.

Every Vehicle in the Game Right Now

All nine vehicles are supply stratagems with a 10.5 second call-in, and like any stratagem each one has to be unlocked on your own account before you can bring it. Some are bought with requisition, some sit in a Warbond and two came from community campaigns, which is where most of the confusion about "how do I get the exosuit" comes from.

There is also the GATER, an armed drilling truck, but it is not a stratagem. It only appears as part of specific objectives, such as the mobile E-711 extraction missions on Hive Worlds, and it self-destructs once its job is done.

Fast Recon Vehicles: Getting Around and Getting Out

The M-102 Gunner FRV, renamed from the original M-102 Fast Recon Vehicle, first showed up during the Omens of Tyranny update and became a stratagem after the community defended Achernar Secundus in December 2024. It is best treated as a transport first and a weapon second: its mounted heavy machine gun carries 4 spare magazines that cannot be refilled, so the gunner should save them for real threats rather than every Scavenger.

The M-103 Supply FRV swaps the gun for a supply rack with eight charges that refill stims, grenades and ammunition like a Resupply box, plus an automated AR-23P Liberator Penetrator turret that fires about 120 rounds before it needs one of those charges to reload. The charges cannot be restocked, so prioritize your own gear over the turret. It was earned by Census Thunder campaign participants in June 2026 and joined the requisition shop for everyone at 25,000 slips with the October 20, 2026 patch.

The M-104 Incinerator FRV seats only three because its fuel tank fills the back row, mounts a heavy flamethrower holding 800 units of fuel and explodes with a blast roughly the size of an Eagle 500kg Bomb when destroyed. It was available only as a temporary operation variant during Census Thunder, and the wiki lists it as unavailable today.

  • Drive in short bursts. The FRV is fast but handles poorly; ease off the throttle in turns and over rough ground, and tap the handbrake for tight corners.
  • Carry a way to flip it. An overturned FRV can be pushed upright by explosive force, and the wiki recommends the PLAS-15 Loyalist pistol because its push is strong and its damage low.
  • Watch the ground. Tires pop easily, Terminid bug mines can flip the vehicle, and Automaton contact mines can destroy it with everyone inside.
  • Prefer manual gears if you like. The FRV shifts automatically by default, and that behavior can be changed in the Accessibility settings.

Exosuits: Patriot, Emancipator, Lumberer and Breakthrough

Exosuits are single-seat walkers with thick armor and big guns. Each one gives three uses per mission on a 420 second cooldown. Arrowhead's June 2026 patch notes describe the cooldown dropping from ten minutes to eight, while the wiki's testing puts the current figure at 420 seconds, or seven minutes; either way they are far more available than they used to be. The same patch raised exosuit main health to 1,800 and moved their armor up a tier, so small arms and Scavenger bites now barely scratch them.

  • EXO-45 Patriot: a rocket pod and a minigun. One well-placed rocket to the head kills a regular Charger, two kill a Bile Titan, and the minigun shreds light enemies. The rockets are limited, so do not waste them on bug holes.
  • EXO-49 Emancipator: twin autocannons with high armor penetration and stagger, excellent for clearing nests, fabricators and landed Illuminate Warp Ships. It was the community reward for liberating the Varylia 5 Petafactory in May 2024.
  • EXO-51 Lumberer: an anti-tank cannon on one arm and a flamethrower on the other. The October 20, 2026 patch raised its flame particle damage from 3 to 8 so it burns closer to a real flamethrower.
  • EXO-55 Breakthrough: a flak cannon and a large ballistic shield. It is the only exosuit you reload manually, and a well-timed shield bash interrupts a charging Charger.

The Lumberer and Breakthrough arrived with the Exo Experts Premium Warbond on April 28, 2026, and they were the first vehicles locked to a Warbond, at 50 medals each once you own it. Every exosuit turns slowly, so keep a teammate on your flanks and avoid walking into tight spaces you cannot back out of.

A few quirks are worth knowing before your first drop in one. Climbing into an exosuit restores your stamina, and you can still use a stim from inside the cockpit. The walkers shrug off most fire-based weapons and hazards, including fire tornadoes, and they simply trample planetary nuisances like tremors, ice plants and shrubs while knocking down trees, light fencing and some rocks in their path. That makes them excellent for pushing through rough terrain toward an objective, as long as you remember that your rockets and cannon shells are limited and that a stranded walker with empty guns is just a slow, expensive target.

Tanks: The Bastion and the Maelstrom

The TD-220 Bastion MK XVI rolled out with the February 3, 2026 patch. It needs a driver and a gunner and carries two more Helldivers on the roof, who can use their own weapons and stratagems but cannot aim down sights. The gunner controls a 120mm cannon with 31 shells and anti-tank penetration second only to a direct Solo Silo hit, plus a coaxial heavy machine gun with 2,000 rounds. Both guns only traverse about 20 degrees each way, so the driver has to point the hull at targets, and the tank tops out around 32 km/h.

The Bastion struggles inside colonies, where tight streets and corners trap it, but in open terrain it can delete Dropships and Warp Ships with one shot to the fuselage. Since June 2026 it has also counted as heavily armored, which means small arms and minor explosions no longer chip it down.

The TD-110 Maelstrom is an infantry fighting vehicle with two triple-barrel rotary guns holding 2,100 rounds in total, laser-guided missiles fired by the gunner and a smoke screen the driver can deploy. Helldivers who took part in the Armored Eagle campaign (September 22 to October 3, 2026) received it on October 4. A message in the official Helldivers Discord's announcements channel told players who missed the campaign that the vehicle will be available again at a later stage, but so far only the Supply FRV has a confirmed requisition price.

Matching the Vehicle to the Front

Vehicles are strongest where the terrain is open and the enemy is dense. Against Terminids, the Emancipator closes bug holes from range and the Patriot or Bastion are among the best tools against a Hive Lord, but Impalers are notoriously dangerous to exosuits and FRVs, and the Caustic Strain's Bile Warriors and Bile Spitters deal three times and one and a half times normal damage to exosuits and tanks. Our Terminid guide explains when that strain is active.

On the Illuminate front, the wiki advises against calling exosuits, FRVs and emplacements under a Leviathan blockade, because the flying warship destroys them easily, and a Gazer Spire's long-range laser punishes slow walkers. Harvesters stop an FRV dead if you ram them. The Illuminate guide covers those threats in detail. Against Automatons, slow down near contact mines and save the Bastion's cannon for armored targets and Dropships; the existing guide to beating the bots has the rest.

Upgrades That Make Vehicles Better

No ship module targets vehicles directly, but Morale Augmentation trims 5 percent off every stratagem, which takes an exosuit from 420 to 399 seconds, an FRV from 480 to 456 and the Bastion from 780 to 741. When the Democracy Space Station's boost is active on your planet, the wiki lists exosuit cooldowns as low as 273 seconds. Our ship module guide shows what Morale Augmentation costs.

The Integrated Extinguishers booster also deserves a look for vehicle crews: it cuts the time you burn from three seconds to one and a half, and passengers in an FRV or the Bastion's gunner seat cannot easily dive to put flames out. For looks, Premium Warbond vehicle patterns have applied to the Bastion since June 2026, and Ironclad Democracy added tank-exclusive patterns. Finally, a September 2026 patch stopped enemies from targeting unoccupied vehicles, so parking an FRV near an objective is far less risky than it used to be. If you are still saving for these, our requisition guide explains how to budget 20,000 to 35,000 slips.

Want the Vehicles Without the Wait?

The Gunner FRV and both purchasable exosuits need level 25 and the Bastion needs level 30, on top of tens of thousands of requisition slips. The store's Helldivers 2 boosting page lists level boosting and requisition slip farming among its services for PC and PlayStation accounts, so you can reach those requirements sooner. Open the listing that matches your goal to read its platform options, delivery details and current availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you unlock an exosuit?

Reach level 25 and buy the EXO-45 Patriot or EXO-49 Emancipator in the Robotics Workshop section of Ship Management for 20,000 requisition each. The Lumberer and Breakthrough are in the Exo Experts Warbond instead.

What level do you need for the Bastion tank?

Level 30. It then costs 35,000 requisition slips in the Hangar section, the highest requisition price on the whole stratagem list.

Can you still get the Incinerator FRV?

Not right now. It was a temporary operation variant during the June 2026 Census Thunder campaign, and the community chose the Supply FRV for full production instead.

How many times can you call an exosuit per mission?

Three times, with a cooldown between calls that the wiki measures at 420 seconds before any upgrades.

Do enemies attack empty vehicles?

Not anymore. The September 22, 2026 patch made enemies stop targeting unoccupied vehicles, so an empty FRV or exosuit is left alone until someone climbs in.

How do you flip an FRV back over?

Push it with an explosion. Steering toward a roll can save it before it tips, and once it is upside down a pistol like the PLAS-15 Loyalist can knock it upright with little risk to the tires.
