Shinobi Striker Modded Save on PS4 and PS5: How It Works

Our Shinobi Striker checkout asks one question before anything else: PS4 or PS5? It is a fair question to be puzzled by, because there is only one PlayStation version of the game. Shinobi Striker is a PS4 title, and PS5 owners play that same game through backward compatibility.

This guide explains what that means for a modded save, why the store still asks, how to move your profile between the two consoles, and the small differences worth knowing before you order.

One game, two consoles

PlayStation's own store page lists Shinobi Striker as a PS4 game released on 31 August 2018. It is playable on PS5, with Sony's usual note that some features available on PS4 may be absent on the newer console and that the PS5 may need its latest system software. Bandai Namco never released a native PS5 edition, so every PlayStation player, on either console, is running the same PS4 build with the same updates and the same Season Pass content.

That shared build is good news for a save. Your progress is PS4 save data whichever console you play on, the trophy list is the same single list, and the store's two saves are the same product for both: $50 for the unlock-all save, $50 for the Jiraiya Prestige 25 save.

Why the store still asks which console you use

Knowing where you actually play lets support apply the save in a way that matches your setup and give you the right instructions afterwards. It also avoids the most common mix-up: a player who owns both consoles, names one, and then launches the game on the other before the new save has reached it. Answer with the console you play on day to day, and mention it in your order notes if you use both.

The other requirement is the same on both consoles. The listing asks for an active PlayStation Plus membership on the account receiving the save, and it is explicit that PS Plus shared from another account will not work. On a PS5 this catches people out, because console sharing can let other users play online without their own membership. For this order, the membership has to belong to the account you name.

Moving your profile between PS4 and PS5

Because Shinobi Striker saves are PS4 save data, moving them between consoles follows the standard PS4 routine. With PS Plus you can upload the save to cloud storage on one console and download it on the other. Without relying on the cloud, you can copy it to a USB drive: on a PS4 through Application Saved Data Management, and on a PS5 through the Saved Data (PS4) section of Settings.

The same applies if you are upgrading. If the save goes onto your PS4 today and you buy a PS5 next year, bring the save with you using either method and the profile comes along unchanged. Nothing about the order ties it to the console it was first played on; it belongs to your account.

Playing on both consoles

If you switch between a PS4 and a PS5, pick one as your main machine for Shinobi Striker and move the save deliberately rather than letting two consoles race each other. Playing a session on one and then an older session on the other is the classic way to overwrite fresh progress with stale data. That matters more after a modded save, because an accidental rollback could put you back to your pre-order profile.

A simple habit avoids it: after playing, upload or copy the save, and before playing on the other console, download it first. If you ever do roll back by mistake, the backup you made before ordering is your safety net, which is why our safety checklist puts the USB copy first.

What stays the same either way

Gameplay, content and online play are identical across the two consoles, since both run the same PlayStation version and share its online community. The four battle types, the masters at the Ninjutsu Library, Tenten's appraisals and the Season Pass releases all arrive on both at once. Your modded unlocks, wardrobe and, on the Jiraiya save, the profile counters look the same on either screen.

What does not carry over is anything outside PlayStation. The saves are not available for Xbox or PC, and PlayStation progress does not move to those platforms; our Xbox explainer covers why.

Ready to order

Pick your save on the Shinobi Striker hub, name the console you play on at checkout, and make sure PS Plus is active on the account receiving it. The unlock-all save is the usual starting point, and the transfer guide walks through the order from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a PS5 version of Shinobi Striker?

No native one. PS5 owners play the PS4 game through backward compatibility, which is why a single save covers both consoles.

Will a save applied for PS4 work if I move to PS5?

Yes. It is PS4 save data on your account, so you can move it with PS Plus cloud storage or a USB drive, using the Saved Data (PS4) section in the PS5's settings.

Is there a separate PS5 trophy list?

No. The PS5 runs the PS4 game, so there is one Shinobi Striker list of 48 trophies whichever console you use. Trophies sit on your PSN account and are not part of the save.

What should I write at checkout if I own both consoles?

Name the console you play on most and mention the other in your order notes. Then leave the game closed on both until you receive confirmation that the save has been applied.

Do PS4 and PS5 players play together online?

They run the same PlayStation version of the game, so they share its online community. Both need PS Plus to play online.
