The newest Pokémon TCG Pocket set is Dual Fusion, which launched on October 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT (October 29 in many regions) as the first expansion of the C series and the first to add dual-type Pokémon. As of November 6, 2026 it is the current set, alongside the new First Partners special pack, and the official schedule points to the next booster arriving around mid-December.
We checked this against the official Dual Fusion announcement and October 2026 producer letter on Pokemon.com, the official press release, Serebii's Dual Fusion and First Partners card lists, and Game8's Dual Fusion and First Partners pages in November 2026.
Dual Fusion at a Glance
Dual Fusion is built around two booster packs, one with Mega Mewtwo X on the art and one with Pikachu. Serebii's card list runs to 217 cards: 131 numbered cards from one to four diamonds, then 86 secret cards above the set number covering the star, shiny and crown rarities. The set leans heavily on Kanto favorites, with new cards and illustrations for Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise according to the official press release.

- Release: October 28, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT.
- Series: the first set of the C series, following the B series that ended with Deluxe Pack Mega.
- Boosters: Mega Mewtwo X and Pikachu.
- Headline mechanic: cards that carry two types at the same time, debuting on the two Mega headliners.
- Crown rares: Fuecoco ex, Pawmot and Giratina ex.
The set also brought a cosmetic tie-in: the official announcement says Mega Greninja covers and backdrops became available from October 31. New players were not left out either, since the same announcement says an elite Dragon-type deck built around Mega Rayquaza ex, Dragonair and Gouging Fire is sent to every player's Gifts, which gives anyone a competitive deck to learn the new format with.
Dual-Type Pokémon: What Actually Changes
Until Dual Fusion, every Pokémon card in Pocket had a single type. A dual-type card counts as both of its types at once, and the practical effect is about support. Game8's set page explains that Mega Mewtwo X ex can benefit from Psychic and Fighting support alike, naming the Peculiar Plaza and Arena of Antiquity Stadiums and the Korrina and Diantha Supporters. It also notes that dual types can have a type advantage against more Pokémon, since they bring two types into play.
Look at the two headliners and you can see the design. Mega Mewtwo X ex is a Basic Pokémon, unusual for a Mega, with 180 HP and a Dual Impact attack that does 100 damage, or 140 when any Stadium is in play. Mega Greninja ex is a Stage 2 with 200 HP, no retreat cost and a Splash of Darkness attack that does 100 and stops the Defending Pokémon from retreating during your opponent's next turn. Both are Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, so each gives up three points, and with it the game, when Knocked Out.
Early results suggest the mechanic is strong but not overwhelming. In the first week of tournament data, the Mega Greninja ex decks are among the most played, and Game8 places Mega Greninja ex with Greninja in its top tier. Our meta decks guide breaks down how they are performing.
The Cards Worth Knowing, Pack by Pack
Each booster has its own card pool, so it helps to know which pack holds what before you spend stamina. Serebii's list splits the notable cards like this.

The Pikachu booster is the one for Water and Lightning players. It carries the whole Greninja upgrade, with Frogadier and Mega Greninja ex, along with Pikachu ex and its partner Pawmot, the Fire starter Fuecoco ex, and three more big ex cards in Alolan Exeggutor ex, Mega Skarmory ex and Mega Dragonite ex. Its Trainer side includes Serena's Choice, Light Ball and Lorelei.
The Mega Mewtwo X booster leans toward Psychic, Darkness and Fire. It holds Mega Mewtwo X ex with its usual partner Mew ex, the Umbreon that anchors several Darkness decks in the early tournament data, including the second most played list, the new Charizard and Blastoise, and the ex cards Mega Tyranitar ex, Giratina ex, Lycanroc ex and Bewear ex. Sweet Honey, Blue's Provocation and Rika round out its Trainers. Eviolite and the three crowns can come from either booster.
If you only care about one archetype, this split makes the decision easy. If you want a bit of everything, alternate the two boosters and use Pack Points to fill in the single cards that refuse to show up, since every pack opened adds five points toward an exchange.
Game8's early ratings put Mega Greninja ex, Frogadier, Serena's Choice, Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mew ex at the top of the set, followed by Pikachu ex, Light Ball, Charizard, Mega Tyranitar ex and Sweet Honey. Pikachu ex is a 120 HP Basic whose Thundertail does 130 damage for three Energy and discards two Lightning Energy, a simple, fast attacker for newer players. Collectors get plenty to chase as well. Serebii lists 30 two-star cards, four immersive three-star cards, 28 shiny cards and three crowns in the set. Our rarity guide explains what each symbol means and how rare it is.
First Partners: The First Special Pack
Alongside Dual Fusion, the game added a new kind of pack. The official press release describes Special Pack: First Partners as available from October 31 to December 26, featuring the first partner Pokémon from each of the nine regions. Special packs are opened with special pack stamina, which recovers once a week, and each one always includes a one-star card.
Serebii's list for the set shows the 27 starters from Bulbasaur through Quaxly plus three versions of Mew. Game8 adds that the stamina refreshes every Saturday, that Special Pack Hourglasses from campaigns and events can open extra packs, that the cards can be traded like regular expansion cards, and that the set includes secret cards that do not appear in the offering list or card dex. Because it uses its own stamina, there is no reason not to open it every week until it leaves on December 26.
What Changed With the C Series
The October 2026 producer letter, published on October 15, explains the bigger changes that arrived with the new series. The most important is timing: booster packs had been releasing about every four weeks, and the new series moves to a cycle of roughly six weeks, with more events, missions and features inside each period.
- Community Decks: browse popular or friends' decks and copy them using your own cards.
- Rental decks: usable as soon as new boosters release, with unlimited uses, and now playable in versus battles. Six Dual Fusion rental decks are available until December 15.
- Limited Battle Events: held a set period after each release, restricting which cards can be used and rewarding wins with accessories and promo packs.
- Mission-based immersive cards: some immersive cards are now earned by completing collections through missions, not only from packs.
- One-star promo cards: weekly event missions over three weeks, each set of missions awarding one of three illustrated promo varieties.
- Trading and sharing: trading will show cards of any rarity your partner has not registered, and sharing will point out cards on your partner's wishlist.
Event Calendar Through December
The official Dual Fusion announcement lists a busy schedule. Dates follow the announcement, and start or end times can fall a day later in some regions:
- Second Anniversary Celebration: October 29 to December 14, with a ticket for a booster that includes a two-star card.
- PROMO Reissue Event: October 29 to November 12, for B series promo cards.
- Handy Card Collection Missions: October 29 to January 26, 2027, for Trainers such as Sabrina and Red.
- Dual Fusion Emblem Event and Battle Rally Missions: November 5 to 15. Our emblems guide covers the win targets.

- Promo Pack C Series Vol. 1: November 17 to December 1.
- Themed Promo Card Events: November 25 to December 25.
- Ranked Match Season C1: November 30 to December 14.
- Community Week: December 5 to 12.
When Is the Next Set?
No name or exact date for the next booster appears in the official announcements we checked on November 6, 2026. Two official details narrow the window, though. The Dual Fusion rental decks are available until December 15, 2026 at 5:59 p.m. PST and will be replaced when the next booster pack releases, and the producer letter's six-week cycle counts forward from the October 28 launch to roughly the same point. Mid-December is the reasonable expectation, but treat it as an estimate until an official announcement confirms it.
Want a Collection Ready for the Next Set?
A six-week cycle gives more time per set, but catching up on the 22 main expansions before Dual Fusion still takes a long time. For players who would rather begin with a deep collection, the store's Pokémon TCG Pocket page carries account listings from independent sellers, each describing its own cards, crowns and hourglass reserve.
Check the rules before you buy into that idea: according to The Pokémon Company International's Terms of Use, in-game content comes with a non-transferable license, and resale or transfer is not allowed outside of what the company explicitly permits.
