The best packs to open in Pokémon TCG Pocket in November 2026 are the two Dual Fusion boosters if you want the newest meta cards, with the Pikachu pack holding Mega Greninja ex and the Mega Mewtwo X pack holding Mega Mewtwo X ex and Umbreon, followed by the Mega Rising Mega Gyarados and Mega Altaria packs and Pulsing Aura for staple Trainers. The right answer still depends on whether you are building a specific deck or chasing rare art, so this guide splits the advice by goal.
For this guide we checked the official collecting guide and Dual Fusion announcement on Pokemon.com, Serebii's Dual Fusion card list and booster pack page, Game8's pack rankings (last updated August 2026) and its First Partners page in November 2026.
How Pack Choice Works in Pocket
The single most important thing to understand is that packs inside one expansion are not interchangeable. The official collecting guide spells it out: in the physical card game any booster from a set can contain any card from that set, but in Pocket each booster design has its own group of cards. If you only ever open one booster from an expansion, some cards from that expansion will never appear for you.

You get one free pack every 12 hours, and the pack stamina meter on the home screen shows how long is left. Pack Hourglasses each take an hour off that wait, so twelve of them equal one pack. Before you tap a booster, open its offering rates from the pack selection screen: it lists every card that booster can contain and the odds of each rarity, which is the only reliable way to confirm where a card lives.
Every pack also gives five Pack Points, which can be exchanged for a specific card from that booster group. Serebii lists the exchange costs at 35 points for a one-diamond card, 70 for two diamonds, 150 for three, 500 for four diamonds and 400 for a one-star card, rising to 2,500 for a crown. That makes points a good way to finish a deck but a slow way to collect rare art.
Dual Fusion: Pikachu Pack or Mega Mewtwo X Pack?
Dual Fusion, released on October 28, 2026 in the Americas and October 29 elsewhere, has two boosters. Serebii's card list splits the competitive cards roughly like this:
- Pikachu pack: Mega Greninja ex, Frogadier, Pikachu ex, Pawmot, Alolan Exeggutor ex, Fuecoco ex, Mega Skarmory ex, Mega Dragonite ex, plus the Trainers Light Ball, Serena's Choice, Lorelei, Super Potion and Full Heal.
- Mega Mewtwo X pack: Mega Mewtwo X ex, Mew ex, Umbreon, the new Charizard, Blastoise, Ribombee, Mega Tyranitar ex, Giratina ex, Lycanroc ex and Bewear ex, plus Sweet Honey, Blue's Provocation, Rika, Max Repel, Rising Star and Abandoned Station.
- Both packs: Eviolite, and all three crown rare cards (Fuecoco ex, Pawmot and Giratina ex).
For battlers, the Pikachu pack has the edge right now. Game8's November 4 tier list puts Mega Greninja ex with Greninja in its top tier and its set review rates Serena's Choice highly, and both come from this booster. Mega Mewtwo X ex and the Umbreon decks are the reason to switch, since the Umbreon builds are among the most played lists in Dual Fusion tournament data. A practical approach is to pick the deck you want first, then open the booster that holds its Pokémon line, and only use Pack Points for the last one or two missing cards.
Older Packs That Still Pay Off
Older expansions stay openable, and several of them hold Trainers that appear in almost every competitive deck. Game8's pack ranking, last revised in August 2026 before Dual Fusion launched, gives its top rating to three boosters:

- Mega Rising, Mega Gyarados pack: Game8 points to Copycat, which it says shows up in most decks, and to Mega Absol ex, which still features in the Darkness decks of the Dual Fusion meta.
- Mega Rising, Mega Altaria pack: home of the Lisia Supporter and Mega Altaria ex, which Game8 calls consistent and powerful. Mega Altaria ex with Espeon is one of the higher win-rate decks of the early Dual Fusion meta.
- Pulsing Aura: Field Blower, Lucky Egg and Fragrant Forest, plus Mega Lucario ex, Zoroark ex, Magnezone ex and Mega Sceptile ex.
Game8's next tier includes Paldean Wonders for Chien-Pao ex and Baxcalibur, Secluded Springs for Suicune ex, Crimson Blaze, Paradox Drive, Everyday Wonders and Fantastical Parade. Notice how many of those cards sit in today's top decks: Suicune ex and Baxcalibur are one of the best performing pairs, and Chien-Pao ex with Baxcalibur is in Game8's top tier. For a deck builder, an older booster with two staples you lack is often a better use of a pack than another roll at the newest set.
The same ranking rates the first expansions, Genetic Apex, Space-Time Smackdown and Celestial Guardians, at three stars and Mythical Island, Triumphant Light and Eevee Grove at two or lower. Those packs are mostly worth opening for collection goals or emblems tied to completing a set.
Packs That Do Not Use Your Regular Stamina
A few packs in November 2026 come from separate resources, so they never compete with your daily choice:
- Special Pack: First Partners. Available from October 31 to December 26, it uses its own special pack stamina, which the official announcement says recovers once a week, and each pack always includes a one-star card. Game8 adds that the stamina refreshes on Saturdays and that Special Pack Hourglasses come from campaigns and events.
- Second Anniversary ticket. From October 29 to December 14, players get a ticket for a booster that always contains a two-star card.
- Bonus Week. From November 13 to 20, daily login missions reward a booster pack.
- Promo Pack C Series Vol. 1. From November 17 to December 1, promo packs come from daily missions and battles, including Dual Fusion limited battles.
Use the anniversary ticket on the booster whose two-star cards you like best, since that is the one pack where you know a rare card is coming. The odds of a much rarer surprise, the all-rare pack players call a god pack, are covered in our god pack explainer.
Collectors and Battlers Need Different Answers
If your goal is art rather than wins, the calculation changes. What matters then is which booster holds the specific two-star, shiny or crown cards you want, and the offering rates screen shows exactly that before you open anything. In Dual Fusion the three crown cards can come from either booster, so crown hunters can simply follow the pack with the better two-star art. Our guide to rarity symbols and pull odds explains how rare each symbol is and why a crown is so hard to pull.
Battlers should do the opposite and ignore rare art entirely. The official collecting guide notes that star and crown cards share their game text with their diamond counterparts, so a four-diamond Mega Greninja ex plays exactly like its two-star version. Target the booster with your missing diamond cards and let rare pulls be a bonus.
Completionists have a third consideration: emblems for collecting a set reward a count of unique cards from that expansion, so the booster with the most cards you do not own yet is usually the fastest path. Wonder Pick can fill a few gaps without spending pack stamina, though the official guide warns that some extremely rare cards cannot be wonder picked.
A Simple Opening Plan for November 2026
- Decide on one target deck from the current meta and list the cards you are missing.
- Open the booster that holds most of those cards with every free pack until the Pokémon line is complete.
- Save Pack Hourglasses from the ongoing Dual Fusion Emblem Event missions, which Game8 lists at 12 per participation milestone, and spend them in bursts on the same booster. Our guide to free hourglasses lists every current source.
- Spend Pack Points only on the last one or two cards.
- Switch boosters once the deck is finished, either to a staple-heavy older pack or to the other Dual Fusion booster.
The most common mistake is spreading packs evenly across every booster for variety. That feels fun, but it leaves you with half of several decks and none you can play in ranked. The second mistake is spending Pack Points the moment you have enough for a mid-rarity card: points are scarce, five per pack, and a four-diamond ex costs 500 of them, so it pays to hold them until you know which single card is stopping a deck from working.
Keep an eye on the calendar as well. The official announcement says the six Dual Fusion rental decks run until December 15 and will be replaced when the next booster pack arrives, so the next expansion is likely around mid-December. Our new set guide tracks what is confirmed.
Skipping the Pack Grind
Opening your way to a full collection takes a long time on two free packs a day, and some players prefer to start with a collection that is already built. The store's Pokémon TCG Pocket page lists accounts from independent sellers, with each listing showing details such as its card count, crown rares and remaining hourglasses, which differ from one listing to the next.
It is worth knowing the official position first: The Pokémon Company International's Terms of Use say in-game virtual content is licensed to you as non-transferable and may not be transferred or resold in any manner the company has not explicitly permitted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Dual Fusion pack should I open first?
For competitive play, the Pikachu pack, because it holds Mega Greninja ex, Frogadier and Serena's Choice. Open the Mega Mewtwo X pack first if you want Mega Mewtwo X ex, Mew ex or the Umbreon used in the Darkness decks.
Are older packs still worth opening in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
Yes, especially Mega Rising and Pulsing Aura, which Game8 rates highest for staple Trainers like Copycat, Lisia, Field Blower and Lucky Egg. Paldean Wonders and Secluded Springs also feed current meta decks.
Do different packs in the same set have different cards?
Yes. Each booster design has its own card pool, and a few cards appear in more than one. Check the offering rates on the pack selection screen before opening.
How often can I open a free pack?
Pack stamina recovers one pack every 12 hours. Each Pack Hourglass cuts an hour off that timer, and the paid Premium Pass adds an extra pack every 24 hours.
Does the First Partners pack use my normal pack stamina?
No. It uses special pack stamina that recovers once a week, and it is available until December 26, 2026.
Which pack has the crown rares in Dual Fusion?
Serebii lists all three Dual Fusion crown cards, Fuecoco ex, Pawmot and Giratina ex, as available from both the Pikachu and Mega Mewtwo X boosters.
