Is a PlayStation Trophy Service Worth It in 2026?

Asking whether a trophy service is worth it used to be a question about money. At MessyModdingStore prices it mostly is not: a per-game platinum page is $15, or $25 if you want the unlocks spread over realistic dates. The real costs sit elsewhere, in account access, in how your list reads to other people, and in what a platinum means to you once it is on the shelf. Here is the math and the trade-offs laid out plainly, including the cases where you should keep your money and play the game.

The money side: cost per hour you skip

Take an honest estimate of how long a platinum would take you, from a roadmap or from friends who have done it, and divide the page price by that number. The result is what you pay for each hour you do not spend grinding.

Cost per hour skipped at the store's two platinum prices
Hours the platinum would take youInstant time-stamps ($15)Legit time-stamps ($25)
10 hours$1.50 per hour$2.50 per hour
25 hours$0.60 per hour$1.00 per hour
50 hours$0.30 per hour$0.50 per hour
80 hoursabout $0.19 per hourabout $0.31 per hour
120 hoursabout $0.13 per hourabout $0.21 per hour

On numbers alone, nearly any platinum longer than a weekend is cheap to skip, and that is exactly why price should not decide it for you. If the grind is time you would enjoy, thirty cents an hour is not a saving. It is paying to miss something you like.

The optional add-on follows the same logic: ticking "Platinum trophy for 3 extra games - 20% Off" brings three more platinums into the order for $36, or $12 a game.

What the hours actually buy back

Long platinums are rarely long because of the story. They are long because of the structural chores stacked on top of it. Bloodborne's list sends you deep into the Chalice Dungeons, down to the Pthumerian Queen, and asks for all three endings. Elden Ring wants all three ending trophies plus complete sets of legendary armaments, ashen remains, sorceries and incantations, and talismans, which is why so many players lean on new game plus or save backups to finish it.

Those are the hours a service replaces. Not the first playthrough you loved, but the repetition after it. If you already saw the credits and the remaining list feels like a checklist, the value case is strong. If you have not played the game yet, a service skips the part most people buy games for.

The trophy level math

For plenty of buyers the real goal is the trophy level on their profile. PlayStation's 2020 overhaul set the values at 15 points per bronze, 30 per silver, 90 per gold and 300 per platinum. Levels 1 to 99 cost 60 points each, levels 100 to 199 cost 90, and from level 200 each level costs 450 points and keeps rising.

Run the store's own trophy counts through that and the lists look surprisingly alike. Bloodborne (20 bronze, 7 silver, 6 gold), Elden Ring (24 bronze, 14 silver, 3 gold) and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (48 bronze, 5 silver, 2 gold) each come to exactly 1,350 points including the platinum. On a young profile that is more than 20 levels in one go; past level 200 it is three. A brutal platinum and a gentle one can move your level by the same amount, so if level is the only goal, which game you pick matters less than you might expect.

What it costs besides money

  • Account access. Delivery means someone from the store signing in as you, with sight of everything the account displays while they work. PlayStation's terms ask you to keep your sign-in details to yourself, so this sits outside Sony's rules, and no seller can honestly promise zero risk. Keep the window short: require a password for purchases beforehand and change your password the moment the order is confirmed.
  • How your list reads. Instant time-stamps put a whole list inside a few seconds, which tracker sites and their communities can spot. Legit time-stamps cost $10 more and read like play sessions. Our timestamp guide covers the difference in detail.
  • What the platinum means. A platinum you earned carries a memory of the fight. One you ordered fills a slot. Only you know which of those you want from a given game.
  • Limited refunds. The store's FAQ says it does not typically offer returns or refunds, and may consider a refund or replacement only if a service did not function as intended. Decide before you pay, not after.

PlayStation's own support pages back up that last step: changing your password is how you sign out consoles you cannot reach, and Account Management has a "Sign Out on All Devices" option under Security for the same job. Both are worth doing once an order that needed your login is complete.

When a trophy service is worth it

  • You finished the game you enjoyed and only a long, repetitive chore stands between you and the platinum.
  • A skill wall or an accessibility issue blocks a list you otherwise love, and more practice will not change that for you.
  • You are building toward a trophy level and care about the number more than any single game.
  • You have stalled on several lists and can name three more games for the add-on.

When it is not

  • You still enjoy the game. Paying to skip fun is the one purchase this math cannot justify.
  • You rank on tracker leaderboards but only want to pay the instant price. A flagged game costs you more than the $10 difference.
  • You are not willing to share your login. Every platinum page works through account access, so there is no version without it.
  • You only need one trophy. There is no single-trophy listing; our single trophy vs full platinum guide explains the custom-request route instead.

If you decide it is worth it

Open the platinum page for your game, for example Elden Ring or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, choose your timestamp type, and keep the security steps above in mind. Every other trophy listing the store carries, from multi-game packages to pre-made accounts, sits on the PlayStation trophy hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a trophy service worth it for a short platinum?

Rarely. A 10-hour list works out at $1.50 an hour with instant time-stamps, and short platinums are often fun to earn. Services make more sense for long lists where most of the time goes into repetition.

Do bought platinums count toward my trophy level?

They do. Points are points: a platinum adds 300 whether you earned it or ordered it. Full lists such as Bloodborne's or Elden Ring's add 1,350 points in total.

Is it worth paying $10 more for legit time-stamps?

If your profile is public on tracker sites or friends compare lists with you, usually yes, because instant unlocks show as one burst. If your profile is private and you only want the points, instant does the same job for less.

Can a trophy service get my account banned?

No one can honestly guarantee it cannot. Sharing your login goes against PlayStation's account terms, so treat it as a real if modest risk. Keeping the access window short and changing your password straight after is the sensible way to limit it.

What if I am not happy with the result?

Check the trophy list as soon as support says the order is done, and contact them with your order ID if something is missing. The store's refund policy is limited: a refund or replacement may be considered only if the service did not work as intended.

Are there cheaper ways to get several platinums?

Yes. Each platinum page has the 3 extra games add-on at $36, and the hub carries multi-game listings with their own package prices, including PS4-only bulk packages. Compare them before ordering several games one by one.
