You get Craft Points in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel by dismantling spare cards, playing Ranked Duels and claiming Duel Pass rewards, and there is a fourth source many players forget: a 20 CP bonus for dismantling cards that a new Forbidden and Limited List just restricted. Every card costs 30 CP of its own rarity to craft, so knowing which cards to break down, and when, decides how quickly you finish a deck. That bonus is live right now, because the list that took effect on November 5, 2026 hit nine cards.
We checked the crafting rules against Yugipedia's Craft Points and Duel Pass pages, the November 2026 Forbidden and Limited List and Duel Pass reports from Master Duel Meta, and card rarities in the YGOPRODeck database, all in November 2026.
How Crafting Works
Craft Points, or CP, come in four rarities that match the cards: N (Normal), R (Rare), SR (Super Rare) and UR (Ultra Rare). Crafting any card costs 30 CP of that card's rarity, so an Ultra Rare like Blue-Eyes White Dragon costs 30 UR CP and nothing else. You cannot convert one rarity of CP into another, which is why UR CP is the bottleneck for nearly every competitive player.

A few cards cannot be crafted at all:
- Some Structure Deck cards are exclusive to that product and have no other source.
- Alternate artwork and extended art cards cannot be crafted; you have to pull them.
- Some Forbidden cards can be crafted for the Unlimited format in Duel Rooms, a change that arrived on September 30, 2022, and the pool of craftable Forbidden cards updates monthly.
Crafting has a hidden benefit too. When you craft a Super Rare or Ultra Rare that belongs to a Secret Pack's featured list, you receive a key that unlocks that Secret Pack for 24 hours, and the first time you unlock a given Secret Pack this way you can open one pack from it for free.
Dismantling: What Each Card Gives Back
Every card you pull can come in one of three finishes, and the finish decides how much CP it returns when dismantled. Royal Finish only exists on Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards.
| Finish | CP returned | Copies needed to craft one card |
|---|---|---|
| Basic (non-foil) | 10 | 3 |
| Glossy Finish | 15 | 2 |
| Royal Finish (SR and UR only) | 30 | 1 |
The math is the most important thing to remember: three basic copies of a card become one crafted card. That is why dismantling a card you might use later is so costly, and why the game's Dismantle All Extra Cards button is the sensible way to clear spares. It breaks down everything beyond three copies of each finish, so you never lose a playable set.
Several kinds of cards cannot be dismantled: anything earned as a Solo Mode reward, cards from Structure Decks and cards from Bonus Packs such as the Legacy Pack. A copy of the same card obtained from a normal pack can still be dismantled. If a dismantle button is greyed out, that is usually why.
Pack openings are where most dismantle fodder comes from. In Secret Packs and Selection Packs, each Super Rare or Ultra Rare has a 9% chance to be Glossy and a 1% chance to be Royal, while Rares and Commons have a 10% chance to be Glossy. So most of your duplicates will be basic copies worth 10 CP, and a lucky Royal Finish duplicate is worth a full craft on its own. After a big pack session, run Dismantle All Extra Cards once and check your new CP balance before deciding what to craft; the spare Rares and Commons alone often cover the cheaper slots of a deck.
A related habit: when a theme's Secret Pack leaves a few key cards missing, compare the number of packs you would need against the CP to craft the gaps. With a 2.5% Ultra Rare rate per card in the featured slots, crafting the last copy of an Ultra Rare is often the cheaper route.
The Banlist Dismantle Bonus Is Active Now
When a Forbidden and Limited List update lowers the number of copies you can play, Master Duel pays extra for the copies that just became unusable. Dismantle a newly restricted card within one month of the change and you receive 20 additional CP of its rarity, up to the number of copies that are no longer legal. Cards that were already restricted when they were added to the game do not qualify.

The November 5, 2026 list makes this relevant right now. Using the rarities in the YGOPRODeck database, the bonus works out like this for the affected cards:
- Dracotail Phryxul (SR, 3 to 0): up to three copies, 60 bonus SR CP.
- Spell Canceller (SR, 3 to 0) and Go! - D/D/D Divine Zero King Rage (SR, 3 to 0): up to 60 bonus SR CP each.
- Protector of the Sanctuary (R, 3 to 0): up to 60 bonus R CP.
- Elfnote Tinia and Elfnote Power Patron (SR, 3 to 1): two copies each, 40 bonus SR CP per card.
- Kewl Tune Reco (UR, 2 to 1): one copy, 20 bonus UR CP. Kewl Tune Mix (SR, 2 to 1): one copy, 20 bonus SR CP.
- Premature Burial went from Forbidden to one copy, so it gives no bonus.
Should you take it? For Forbidden cards you will not use in the Unlimited format, usually yes, since a basic Phryxul plus its bonus returns 30 SR CP, a full craft. For Limited cards, keep the one copy you can still play and only break down the extras. Remember that lists move in both directions: Premature Burial itself just came back from Forbidden, so cards from a deck you love are worth keeping if CP is not urgent. Our full rundown of the current Master Duel banlist covers every change.
The Duel Pass and Ranked
Yugipedia lists Ranked Duels, dismantling and the Duel Pass as the ways to earn CP of every rarity. The Duel Pass is the predictable one. The pass that went live on November 6, 2026 pays these totals across its grades, according to Master Duel Meta:
- Normal (free): 30 UR CP, 30 SR CP, 30 R CP and 27 N CP, which is one free Ultra Rare craft.
- Gold: 100 UR CP, 100 SR CP, 80 R CP and 80 N CP, enough for three Ultra Rare and three Super Rare crafts with 10 of each left over.
The Gold track also returns 700 Gems, which matches the 700 Gem upgrade price Yugipedia lists, so a player who finishes it effectively gets the extra CP at no Gem cost. Pass grades rise when you complete Event and Ranked Duels, with 120 points for a win, so daily Ranked play feeds both your rank rewards and your pass at once. For the Gem side of that equation, see our list of free Gem sources in Master Duel.
What to Craft First
With UR CP so scarce, spend it where it lasts longest. Generic cards that fit into almost any deck keep their value through every list change, while archetype cards can lose it overnight. The official usage numbers Master Duel Meta republished on November 5 show which generic cards dominate high-rank play: Maxx "C" in 98.3% of decks, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in 94.8%, Mulcharmy Fuwalos in 71.7% and Droll & Lock Bird in 65.6%.
A good order for a growing collection:
- Hand traps and staples you will run in every deck, such as Ash Blossom.
- One high-rarity card from your target theme, crafted on a day when you also have Gems saved, because it doubles as a key; the walkthrough on unlocking Secret Packs on demand shows which cards count.
- The last few copies of a deck's core cards after your pack openings, rather than before.
- Extra Deck monsters that several of your decks share.
Avoid crafting into a deck in the week after it was hit by a list change. Check where it stands among the current Master Duel meta decks first, because some decks recover and others fall away.
Common Craft Point Mistakes
- Dismantling the third copy of a card you might play. Getting it back costs three basic copies' worth of CP.
- Crafting before opening packs. Open the Secret Pack first, then craft the gaps, or you may pull a copy you just paid for.
- Missing the banlist bonus window. The extra 20 CP per copy only applies for a month after a list takes effect.
- Breaking down Glossy and Royal copies first. They are worth more CP, but if you enjoy the finish, dismantle basic copies of the same card instead, since the button keeps three of each finish separately.
Want It Done for You?
Ultra Rare CP is the slowest resource in Master Duel to accumulate, and a single meta deck can need dozens of Ultra Rares. Some players prefer to start with a stockpile instead, and the store's Yu-Gi-Oh! hub includes Master Duel account listings from independent sellers that state their own UR CP, Gems and decks, with stock that turns over daily. Before considering one, note that KONAMI's Master Duel Terms of Use prohibit real money trading and say Virtual Goods may not be sold, traded or transferred unless KONAMI expressly allows it.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Craft Points does it take to craft a card?
30 CP of the card's own rarity, whether it is an N, R, SR or UR card.
How much CP do you get for dismantling a card?
10 CP for a basic card, 15 for a Glossy Finish and 30 for a Royal Finish, in the card's own rarity.
Should I dismantle banned cards in Master Duel?
Usually yes for cards you will not use in the Unlimited format, as long as you do it within a month of the list change to collect the 20 CP bonus per copy. Keep one copy if you think the card might return.
Can you convert UR CP into SR CP?
No. Each rarity of Craft Points is separate and only crafts cards of that rarity.
Why can't I dismantle some of my cards?
Cards earned from Solo Mode, Structure Decks and Bonus Packs such as the Legacy Pack cannot be dismantled. Copies of the same card pulled from normal packs can be.
Does crafting a card unlock its Secret Pack?
Yes. Crafting a Super Rare or Ultra Rare from a Secret Pack's featured list unlocks that pack for 24 hours, and the first such unlock for each pack includes one free pack.
