Lords of the Fallen Endings: All 3 and How to Get Each

Lords of the Fallen has three endings: Radiance, Inferno and Umbral. Which one you get comes down to what you do with the five beacons across Mournstead and with the Rune of Adyr, and the Umbral route adds a chain of NPC deaths on top. Each ending earns its own trophy or achievement and unlocks a new starting class for future characters, so completionists need at least three runs, or a careful plan.

We checked the requirements against the Fextralife endings, progress route and New Game Plus pages, CI Games' official beginner tips and the Version 2.5 patch notes in November 2026. Spoiler warning: from the next section on, this post describes late-game bosses, NPC fates and the final choices of all three endings.

The Three Endings at a Glance

Each ending has a distinct name, a reward and a single defining choice. The quick version: cleanse the beacons for Radiance, refuse to cleanse them and empower Adyr's rune for Inferno, or turn the rune over to the Umbral and feed parasites to Molhu for the Umbral ending.

  • Radiance ending: trophy "In Light We Walk", unlocks the Radiant Purifier class. Ends with the fight against Adyr, the Bereft Exile.
  • Inferno ending: trophy "Lord of the Risen", unlocks the Lord class. Ends with a choice involving Iselle rather than a final boss.
  • Umbral ending: trophy "Back to the Void", unlocks the Putrid Child class. Ends after Elianne the Starved and a crossing of Mother's Lull.

Trophy hunters should know one more thing. Version 2.5 added a separate set of Veteran Mode trophies and achievements, and CI Games states that they do not interfere with earning the platinum. Any platinum you already claimed stays yours, and the ending trophies themselves were not changed by that update. In other words, you can chase all three endings on the standard Legacy experience without worrying that the newer, harder mode has moved the goalposts.

The Radiance ending is the one most first-time players reach naturally, because cleansing beacons is what the game's guides and NPCs push you toward. The other two require you to deliberately go against that flow.

The Choices That Lock You In

Before following any route, know the points of no return. Fextralife lists three that matter most, and missing them is the main reason players end up with the wrong ending.

  • Cleansing any beacon locks you out of both the Inferno and Umbral endings. Even the first beacon in the Forsaken Fen counts.
  • Giving the Rune of Adyr to the non-hostile Remnant in Mother's Lull blocks the Radiance and Inferno endings and commits you to Umbral.
  • Using the Seedpods on NPCs kills them, which closes their shops and services, so buy what you need before you use one.

The exact moment the Inferno route locks is reported differently. Fextralife's endings page says you are locked in if you reach Bramis Castle without cleansing any beacon, while a correction on its progress route page says the trigger is opening the Bramis Castle gate with the plain Rune of Adyr. To keep every option open, do not open that gate with the rune until you have decided between Inferno and Umbral.

How to Get the Radiance Ending

This is the straightforward route. You defeat the Colossal Sentinels guarding all five beacons and cleanse each one. The beacons sit in the Forsaken Fen, Upper Calrath, the Fief of the Chill Curse, the Tower of Penance and the Empyrean, guarded in turn by the Hushed Saint, the Lightreaper, the Hollow Crow, Tancred and Reinhold, and Judge Cleric.

  1. Cleanse all five beacons after beating their guardians.
  2. Defeat the Iron Wayfarer at the gates of Bramis Castle to open them.
  3. If Damarose the Marked is still alive, defeat her in the castle's gatehouse.
  4. Fight through the castle and defeat the Sundered Monarch in the throne room.
  5. Speak to the Effigy of Adyr to enter the Rhogar realm, then defeat Adyr, the Bereft Exile.

Version 2.5, the final major update released in December 2025, reworked the Adyr fight after player feedback: you now face a single humanoid manifestation of the Rhogar god. One tip before you move on: do not start New Game Plus straight away. Fextralife advises warping to the Shrine of Adyr in Fitzroy's Gorge, switching to the Umbral and soulflaying Adyr's Stigma in front of the throne to collect his Remembrance, which you can then trade with Molhu.

How to Get the Inferno Ending

The Inferno ending flips the beacon logic. You still defeat every Colossal Sentinel, but you never cleanse a beacon. Instead you corrupt them for Adyr.

  1. Defeat the beacon guardians but leave every beacon uncleansed.
  2. Collect the Rune of Adyr in the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters (if the Iron Wayfarer takes it first, beat him at the castle gates to get it back).
  3. Use the rune on the gates of Bramis Castle. After a short scene, your Dark Crusader Rosary is replaced with a broken version.
  4. Defeat the Sundered Monarch, then speak to the Effigy of Adyr. The rune becomes the Empowered Rune of Adyr.
  5. Use the Empowered Rune on all five beacons. At the Empyrean, deal with Judge Cleric, then enter her mind through her true form.
  6. Finish by using the Empowered Rune of Adyr on Iselle.

Because the route sends you back to every beacon after the castle, it involves more backtracking than Radiance. Plant Vestige Seeds near the beacons you visit late so the return trips are shorter.

How to Get the Umbral Ending

This is the longest and most destructive route. It also starts with not cleansing any beacon, and it costs you several NPCs, including the blacksmith Gerlinde and the Umbral merchant Molhu. Finish upgrading and shopping first.

  1. Defeat Harrower Dervla and The Unbroken Promise in Revelation Depths to reach the well in their arena.
  2. Buy the Umbral Scouring Clump from Molhu at Skyrest Bridge for 50 Umbral Scourings and use it at the well to reach Mother's Lull.
  3. Get Damarose's Seedpod from the Remnant in Mother's Lull and use it on Damarose at Pilgrim's Perch. Then get Gerlinde's Seedpod and use it on her (she must already be freed and living at Skyrest Bridge).
  4. Defeat the Lightreaper outside Bramis Castle for his Umbral Parasite and place it in the open column in Molhu's room.
  5. Take the Rune of Adyr to the Remnant in Mother's Lull to receive the Withered Rune of Adyr and Melchior's Seedpod. Do not open the Bramis Castle gate with the normal rune.
  6. Defeat the Sundered Monarch and use the Seedpod on Melchior's body beside the effigy.
  7. Find the Iron Wayfarer in the Umbral version of the Fief of the Chill Curse, use the Withered Rune on him and place Harkyn's Umbral Parasite in Molhu's room.
  8. Soulflay Pieta at Skyrest Bridge to reveal her parasite and defeat Elianne the Starved, then place Elianne's parasite.
  9. Choose "Enter Mother's Lull" with Molhu. He uses the last Seedpod himself, opening the final platform, and you cross to the ending.

Expect this route to take noticeably longer than the other two. Most of the steps are spread across areas you have already cleared, so the main challenge is remembering the order rather than any single fight.

Planning Runs for All Three Endings

Most of what you own carries into New Game Plus: weapons, armor, spells, runes, upgrades to the Sanguinarix and Umbral Lamp, currencies and materials. Key items, quest items and Boss Remembrances do not, and NPC questlines reset. Since patch 1.1.224 you can also replay at your current New Game level instead of advancing, which keeps the difficulty from climbing while you chase another ending.

A practical order is Radiance first, since it follows the game's natural flow and lets you meet every NPC without losing anyone. On the second run, take Inferno or Umbral; Umbral is best saved for a run where you no longer need Gerlinde's forge. If you also want to know which bosses each route skips, the complete boss order marks the ending-specific fights.

Two more notes. Veteran Mode, added in Version 2.5, is chosen when you start a new game and cannot be switched back to Legacy on that save, so decide before you begin a run; the difficulty and modifier guide explains both modes. And each ending's class is worth trying on a fresh character, as our starting class guide explains. If you are wondering how the story continues, the Lords of the Fallen II release guide covers what is known about the sequel's setting and which ending it reportedly builds on.

Want It Done for You?

Three full runs take a long time, and the Umbral route strips your hub of merchants. If you would rather start each run already equipped, the store's Complete modded save includes every weapon (ranged included), all armor including PvP sets and exclusives, all rings, spells, runes, pendants, emotes and Umbral Eyes, most tincts, 99,999 consumables and upgrade materials, and 30 billion or more bonus Vigor. Note the limits on its page: PS5 and PC only, you must already own the game, and it is applied through account share with your login details.

You can compare it with the other listings on the Lords of the Fallen store page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many endings does Lords of the Fallen have?

Three: Radiance, Inferno and Umbral. Each awards its own trophy or achievement and unlocks a different starting class for new characters.

What is the easiest ending to get in Lords of the Fallen?

Radiance. You cleanse all five beacons, beat the Sundered Monarch and defeat Adyr, which is the path the game naturally guides you along.

Can you get all endings in one playthrough?

No. Cleansing a beacon rules out Inferno and Umbral, and giving the rune to the Remnant rules out the other two, so you need separate runs or New Game Plus cycles.

Does the Umbral ending kill Gerlinde?

Yes. Using her Seedpod on her is a required step, and Molhu and Melchior are also lost along the route. Do your upgrading and shopping first.

Which ending unlocks the Lord class?

The Inferno ending. Radiance unlocks the Radiant Purifier and Umbral unlocks the Putrid Child.

Do I need New Game Plus to see another ending?

Not necessarily. Since patch 1.1.224 you can replay at your current New Game level after the credits, keeping your character and gear while the world and NPCs reset.
