There is no exact release date for Lords of the Fallen II yet. As of November 2026, CI Games' official target is a Q1 2027 window (January to March 2027) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, after the game slipped from its earlier fall 2026 plan. A closed beta has been reported for January 2027, and the Steam page still reads "Coming soon".
We pieced this together from CI Games' own press releases and Steam announcements, the official Lords of the Fallen news page, Gematsu, Wikipedia and Fextralife's sequel page, all checked on 6 November 2026.
The Current Release Window and How It Moved
The sequel has had three public targets in just over a year. It was announced for 2026, narrowed to fall 2026, then pushed into early 2027. The official reasoning for the last move came in a Steam post from CI Games on 24 June 2026.

| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| August 2025 | Revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live for 2026 |
| December 2025 | First gameplay trailer at The Game Awards |
| March 2026 | PLAION named global physical distributor |
| 19 May 2026 | Epic PC exclusivity ended; open PC release confirmed |
| 5 June 2026 | Summer Game Fest trailer; fall 2026 and Steam day one |
| 9 to 10 June 2026 | Nintendo Switch 2 version confirmed |
| 24 June 2026 | Delayed to a Q1 2027 window |
| October 2026 | Closed beta reported as moved to January 2027 |
| 4 November 2026 | Lifting the Veil Ep. 11 combat reveal |
According to that June announcement, the team had been working with a Gameplay Feedback Team of experienced soulslike players inside its Launch Creative Team, and their input identified ways to refine the game that needed more integration, iteration and polish time. CI Games also said the new window keeps the launch outside a highly competitive holiday period. PC Gamer's headline and the game's Wikipedia article both connect that to Grand Theft Auto VI, which CI Games itself did not name.
No specific day has been announced. If a release-tracking site or retailer shows an exact date, check it against CI Games' own channels first; as of 6 November 2026 the publisher had only committed to the quarter.
Platforms, Stores and Editions
The platform list has grown since the reveal. When it was announced, the PC version was tied to the Epic Games Store under a publishing deal signed in June 2024. On 19 May 2026, CI Games announced a separation agreement with Epic Games Publishing that returned full PC distribution rights, so the game will launch on Steam and other PC storefronts on day one, as well as Epic. CI Games now self-publishes on every platform.
- PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, confirmed since the reveal.
- PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a simultaneous launch.
- Nintendo Switch 2, announced alongside the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. CI Games says it targets a stable 30 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes using Unreal Engine 5's Nanite and Lumen, and it is the series' first appearance on a Nintendo platform.
The Steam decision had been building for a while. In March 2026, CI Games said it had raised an additional $19 million from investors to diversify the sequel's distribution channels, and the May announcement credited Epic with significant funding and strategic support during the difficult market of 2023 and 2024. The two companies parted on friendly terms: Epic's Unreal Engine 5 and online services still power the game.
Physical copies will be handled by PLAION, which also distributed the 2023 game at retail. The game has not been rated yet; CI Games expects an ESRB Mature 17+ rating and lists a provisional PEGI 18. None of the official CI Games posts we checked announce editions, prices or pre-order bonuses, and the Steam listing shows no price, only "Coming soon"; for now the game is available to wishlist on every platform. Treat edition lists on unofficial sites with caution until the publisher confirms them.
Beta, Trailers and the Latest Reveals
CI Games skipped Gamescom 2026 entirely. In posts on X in late June 2026, CEO Marek Tymiński said the company would not attend and that a closed beta open to thousands of players would follow later in the year instead, as reported by Italian outlet Everyeye.

That beta has since slipped as well. In October 2026, ixbt.games reported that Tymiński had moved the closed beta to January 2027 while keeping the Q1 2027 launch plan unchanged. We could not find the original post or an official sign-up page, so treat the January timing as reported rather than confirmed, and watch the official channels for registration details.
The trailers so far give a good picture of the game:
- The Game Awards, December 2025: the first gameplay trailer, set to a cover of "It's a Sin" by Ghost, showed three bosses: the Heartroot Warden with a chain-wrapped greatsword, the winged Koydreth striking from a rune-etched mirror, and the dragon Lingao the Souring Storm.
- Summer Game Fest, June 2026: "The Battle for Thorngar" introduced Ysiguen, a region partly inspired by Asian mythology, revealed the new katana weapon class alongside the previously announced scythes, and showed more of the new NPCs and Lords of Darkness.
- Lifting the Veil Ep. 11, 4 November 2026: "Steel and Sorcery", the biggest combat reveal so far, released with two minutes of new gameplay.
Story, Setting and the Link to the 2023 Game
Lords of the Fallen II is set 100 years after Lords of the Fallen (2023) and is described by CI Games as a standalone sequel built in Unreal Engine 5, with two fully explorable worlds, including a deadlier, expanded Umbral realm. Wikipedia lists it as the third entry in the series and a direct sequel to the 2023 reboot.
Spoiler note for the 2023 game: Fextralife's sequel page states that the Umbral ending of the first game is treated as canon, with the Umbral realm having flourished while Axiom suffers. We did not find that statement in an official CI Games post, so consider it unconfirmed. If you have not finished the original, our guide to all three endings explains what that ending involves.
The same wiki page describes Axiom as four biomes ranging from scorched deserts to overgrown jungles, each with its own factions, and says Umbral now bleeds into the main world rather than being a separate layer you briefly enter. CI Games' own summary is shorter: a richer, more varied world, a much larger enemy roster with biome-specific factions, more dynamic boss encounters and a more immersive Umbral realm.
Combat and Multiplayer Changes Confirmed So Far
The November 2026 Lifting the Veil episode filled in most of the combat details. Here is what CI Games has confirmed:
- Almost 30 distinct weapon movesets, nearly double the 2023 game, with clearer one-handed and two-handed styles, counterstrikes and boss weapons with signature attacks.
- Mid-combo weapon switching between two melee loadouts, for example opening with dual daggers and finishing with a scythe.
- Quickfire abilities: two per melee loadout, for instant ranged attacks, spells or buffs without changing stance.
- Magic: up to four instantly castable spells per catalyst, a second catalyst for four more, chargeable spell variants, seven schools of magic, and mana restoration through the Sanguinarix.
- Ranged: every bow and crossbow has an infinite base ammo type, with stronger ammunition restocked at stations around the world.
- Upgrade refunds: weapon upgrades can be recovered for a small cost, which the 2023 game never allowed; our current weapon upgrade guide explains why that matters.
Earlier reveals added the brutal side of the package. The Game Awards announcement promised a new dismemberment feature, all-new executions, a greater variety of enemy types and bigger boss battles, and Game Director James Lowe described the combat as faster and more brutal than the 2023 game.
On multiplayer, CI Games has confirmed full shared campaign progression in online co-op from day one, optional PvP, and custom game modifiers. It will keep using Epic Online Services for cross-platform play, matchmaking, friends lists and shared-progression co-op, so expect crossplay similar to what the original offers today, as described in our crossplay explainer. Fextralife also reports that modifiers will be available at launch, echoing the system covered in our difficulty and modifiers guide.
What to Do While You Wait
The 2023 game is in its final form. Version 2.5, released in December 2025, was announced as its final major update, with Veteran Mode, reworked bosses and reforged boss weapons, and small hotfixes have continued through 2026. According to CI Games, the game had sold more than 2.5 million copies by March 2026 and passed 8 million players by June, and it joined PlayStation Plus in April 2026, so many players already have access to it.
- Claim your free tincts. When the Summer Game Fest trailer launched, CI Games gave every owner of the 2023 game the Precious Metals Armour Tincts, originally a pre-order bonus.
- Wishlist on your platform to get release-date notifications as soon as a day is announced.
- Watch the official channels. Lifting the Veil, the developers' monthly YouTube series, has carried most of the sequel's news, and beta sign-ups should appear there and on the official site.
Getting Ready in the Original
If you are using the wait to finish the 2023 game, the store's Lords of the Fallen section lists a Vigor and item drop service for PlayStation, Xbox and Steam that needs no account details, along with modded save packages for specific platforms. The sequel is not out, so nothing on the page relates to Lords of the Fallen II.
