Free Fire Evo Guns: Token Costs, Levels and Upgrades

Garena Free Fire YouTube thumbnail: Upgrading All Evo Gun Skins Max - 99999 Diamonds - Garena Free Fire

Evo guns in Free Fire are premium weapon skins that start at Level 1 and grow as you feed them weapon-specific tokens, unlocking new looks, kill effects, attribute changes, a special ability and finally an exclusive emote. Reaching Level 7 takes 1,450 tokens on the classic upgrade ladder, and guides now report that newer Evo guns go one step further to Level 8. Most of them come from rotating Evo Vault events paid with diamonds, which is why a fully upgraded Evo gun is one of the clearest signs of a well-invested account.

We checked the numbers here against BlueStacks' Free Fire MAX Evo gun guide (updated July 2026), Sportskeeda's Evo Vault and Infernal Draco coverage, Gaming on Phone's Evo gun list and the Free Fire Fandom wiki's Predatory Cobra page, in November 2026.

What an Evo Gun Actually Is

A normal gun skin is fixed: you equip it and it looks the same forever. An Evo gun is an evolving skin tied to one weapon, such as the MP40, M1014 or Groza. BlueStacks describes them as premium upgradable weapon skins that begin at Level 1 and are improved with Evo Tokens made for that specific gun, so tokens for one Evo gun cannot be spent on a different one.

Each level adds something you can see or feel in a match. Early levels bring visual changes and small attribute shifts, the middle levels add hit and elimination effects, and the top levels unlock a final appearance, a passive ability and an emote. The attribute changes come with trade-offs. The Fandom wiki's breakdown of the Predatory Cobra MP40, for example, shows damage and rate of fire going up while reload speed goes down.

BlueStacks is careful to add that upgrades do not fundamentally change how a weapon works. An MP40 is still an MP40. Players chase Evo guns mostly for the look, the effects and the collection value, not because a level 7 skin turns a weak weapon into a strong one.

Where Evo Guns Come From

Most Evo guns are released through limited Luck Royale events, and the format has changed over the years. Two documented examples show the range.

  • Evo Vault (example from September 2023). Sportskeeda reported an Evo Vault that ran from 29 September to 29 October 2023, priced at 20 diamonds per spin or 200 diamonds for 11 spins. The event rules promised an Evo gun skin within 50 spins, and duplicate skins converted into Evo Tokens. Its pool included the Groza Bang! Popblaster, the MP5 Platinum Divinity, the M4A1 Infernal Draco and the M1014 Green Flame Draco.
  • Faded Wheel (example from October 2022). The M4A1 Infernal Draco launched in a Faded Wheel on 15 October 2022. You removed two of the 10 prizes, then each spin cost more than the last (9, 19, 39, 69, 99, 149, 199 and 499 diamonds), and since prizes did not repeat, the grand prize was reached for at most 1,082 diamonds.

BlueStacks' 2026 guide says Evo Vault events rotate, so guns tend to come back periodically, and that duplicate Evo guns turn into Evo Tokens and Evo Gun Exchange Tokens. Prices and pools change with every event, so always read the event's own rules screen before spinning.

Token Costs From Level 1 to the Top

Getting the gun is only the first expense. Upgrades are paid in that gun's tokens, and the cost per step climbs steeply. The same ladder appears on the Fandom wiki's Predatory Cobra page and in BlueStacks' guide, and Sportskeeda's 2023 Groza guide quotes the same 1,450-token total to Level 7.

Evo gun token cost per upgrade step
UpgradeTokens for this stepRunning total
Level 1 to 23030
Level 2 to 36090
Level 3 to 4120210
Level 4 to 5240450
Level 5 to 6400850
Level 6 to 76001,450
Level 7 to 8 (newer guns only)7002,150

Two details are worth noticing. First, the last two classic steps (400 and 600 tokens) cost more than the first five combined, so the jump from Level 5 to Level 7 is where most of the spending goes. Second, the Level 8 step comes from BlueStacks' July 2026 guide, which says Level 8 exists only for newer Evo guns while older ones stop at Level 7. Older articles, such as Gaming on Phone's 2022 list, describe every gun as topping out at Level 7, which was true when they were written.

Each gun has its own named token. Gaming on Phone lists Venomous Fang for the MP40 Predatory Cobra, Dragon Scales for the AK47 Blue Flame Draco, Shark Tooth for the SCAR Megalodon and Booyah Power for the UMP Booyah Day, while Sportskeeda names Raze Volcanite as the M4A1 Infernal Draco's material.

What Each Level Unlocks

The exact rewards vary by gun, but the classic seven-level pattern is consistent across the Predatory Cobra, Infernal Draco and Bang! Popblaster write-ups:

  1. Level 1: new look plus the first attribute changes.
  2. Level 2: special kill (elimination) announcement and another attribute upgrade.
  3. Level 3: second new look.
  4. Level 4: hit effect and a further attribute upgrade.
  5. Level 5: kill effect and firing effect.
  6. Level 6: new look and the gun's ability.
  7. Level 7: final look and an exclusive emote.

The Level 6 ability is the part that differs most. The Fandom wiki says the Predatory Cobra MP40 deals bonus damage when you hit enemies from behind, and its Level 7 emote is called Cobra Rising. Sportskeeda reported that the Infernal Draco M4A1's Level 6 ability deals extra damage when firing at gloo walls. For newer guns with a Level 8, BlueStacks lists additional premium cosmetic effects at that final step.

Well-Known Evo Guns by Weapon

Garena has added Evo skins for many weapons since the first ones appeared. These are names documented in the sources we checked; it is not a complete list, and new ones arrive through later events.

  • MP40: Predatory Cobra, one of the most recognizable Evo skins, with its rear-hit ability.
  • AK47: Blue Flame Draco.
  • M1014: Green Flame Draco, plus Scorpio Shatter according to the Fandom wiki.
  • M4A1: Infernal Draco.
  • Groza: Bang! Popblaster.
  • MP5: Platinum Divinity.
  • UMP: Booyah Day.
  • XM8: Destiny Guardian.
  • SCAR: Megalodon.

The wiki also notes an E-Badge subscription that let players use the Green Flame Draco at Level 6 for a limited period. That version could not be upgraded to Level 7 and was not kept permanently once the subscription ended, which is a useful reminder that a screenshot of a high-level Evo skin does not always mean the account owns it outright.

Spending Smart on Evo Upgrades

A quick worked example shows why the target matters. Taking a gun from Level 1 to Level 6 costs 850 tokens in total on the ladder above, and that already includes the gun's ability and its third look. Going on to Level 7 costs another 600 tokens, about 70 percent more again, for the final look and the emote. On a newer gun, Level 8 then adds 700 more. None of those last steps change the weapon's ability, so they are purely a collector's decision.

Because the costs rise so sharply, it pays to decide on a target level before you start. BlueStacks' guide suggests Level 4 for budget players or anyone collecting several guns, Level 6 as the best overall value for most players because it unlocks the signature look and ability, and Levels 7 to 8 mainly for collectors.

  • Pick one gun you actually use. Tokens are weapon specific, so spreading diamonds across four Evo skins leaves all of them half finished.
  • Watch for universal tokens. GuruGamer's coverage of the January 2025 Naruto Mystery Shop listed a Universal Evo Token Crate in the prize pool, and event pools like that can fill gaps on any gun.
  • Read the spin rules. Spin limits, duplicate conversions and price steps differ from event to event. The 50-spin promise in that 2023 vault covered any Evo gun in the pool, not a specific one, and Sportskeeda estimated 3,000 to 5,000 diamonds to land the Groza skin itself, with big swings from player to player.
  • Ignore token generators. Garena's support center warns that offers of free diamonds or items are almost always scams aimed at your account or payment details. The same goes for anyone selling cheap Evo tokens through a website or app.

Spending on Evo guns also feeds another system. Diamonds you top up count toward Free Fire's Prime levels, which are covered in the Free Fire Prime level guide.

Already-Upgraded Evo Guns on Existing Accounts

For a lot of players, the token math above is the reason they stop at Level 4 or never start. The Free Fire account listings on the store are posted by marketplace sellers and usually state which Evo guns an account has and at what level, alongside its server, level, Prime level, gun skins and bundles. Garena's Terms of Service are plain on this point: clause 6.2 says an account is for personal use only, that you may not try to transfer it or its virtual items, and that any offer to do so is enough for Garena to suspend or act against the account.

If you go your own way instead, protect the account that holds your upgrades first. An Evo gun at Level 7 is lost along with a guest login, so read how to bind a Free Fire account before you spend, and see the rare bundles guide if outfits are next on your list.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many tokens does it take to max an Evo gun in Free Fire?

On the classic ladder, 1,450 tokens take a gun from Level 1 to Level 7 (30, 60, 120, 240, 400 and 600 per step). BlueStacks reports that newer Evo guns add a Level 8 step of 700 tokens, for 2,150 in total.

What is the max level of an Evo gun?

Older Evo guns stop at Level 7. According to BlueStacks' July 2026 guide, newer Evo guns can reach Level 8.

How do I get Evo guns in Free Fire?

Mostly through limited Luck Royale events such as the Evo Vault, paid with diamonds. Events rotate, so a gun you missed may return later in another pool.

Do Evo guns make you stronger in Free Fire?

They change some attributes with trade-offs, such as more damage and rate of fire but slower reloads on the Predatory Cobra, and unlock an ability at Level 6. Guides stress that upgrades do not fundamentally change how the weapon works.

What happens if I get a duplicate Evo gun?

Duplicates convert into Evo Tokens and Evo Gun Exchange Tokens, according to BlueStacks, so a repeat pull still helps your upgrades.

Which Evo gun is the most popular?

There is no official popularity ranking. The MP40 Predatory Cobra is one of the most frequently mentioned, and the Free Fire Fandom wiki calls it the strongest MP40 skin in the game because of its damage and rate of fire buffs.
