Elden Ring Endings: All 6 and How to Unlock Each One

Elden Ring YouTube thumbnail: Elden Ring - All 6 known Endings

Elden Ring has six endings: Age of Fracture, Age of the Duskborn, Age of Order, Blessing of Despair, Lord of the Frenzied Flame and Age of the Stars. Four of them make you Elden Lord, all six are chosen after you defeat the Elden Beast, and only the Frenzied Flame path locks you out of the others early. Below is what each ending requires, which questlines you need to start before it is too late, and the order that gets all three ending trophies with the least repetition.

We checked every requirement against the Fextralife endings and New Game Plus pages and the PowerPyx trophy roadmap in November 2026. Spoiler warning: from the second section on, this guide names questline outcomes, late-game bosses and the final choice of the story.

All Six Endings at a Glance

Every ending is triggered at the same point, after the final fight against Radagon of the Golden Order and the Elden Beast. Five of them come from interacting with the shattered statue of Queen Marika, called Fractured Marika on the wiki, where a menu offers whatever Mending Runes or choices you qualify for. The sixth, Age of the Stars, comes from a summon sign on the floor of the arena instead.

Elden Ring endings and their requirements (Fextralife Endings page)
EndingElden Lord?What you need
Age of FractureYesNothing extra; do not inherit the Frenzied Flame
Age of the DuskbornYesFia's questline, Mending Rune of the Death-Prince
Age of OrderYesGoldmask and Brother Corhyn's questline, Mending Rune of Perfect Order
Blessing of DespairYesDung Eater's questline, Mending Rune of the Fell Curse
Lord of the Frenzied FlameNoMeet the Three Fingers and inherit the Frenzied Flame
Age of the StarsNoRanni's questline; Frenzied Flame not inherited or quelled

The useful takeaway from the table is how forgiving the system is. Fextralife notes that you can work toward almost every ending at once without committing, because the real choice only happens after the last boss. The single exception is the Frenzied Flame, which changes the rest of the playthrough the moment you accept it.

The Default Ending: Age of Fracture

If you finish the game without completing any of the special questlines, you get Age of Fracture. After the Elden Beast falls, you touch Fractured Marika and choose to mend the Elden Ring without using a Mending Rune. Your Tarnished becomes Elden Lord and the cycle of the Golden Order carries on in a broken form.

It is also the ending most players see first, often without realizing there were others. That is fine, because it counts for the Elden Lord trophy, and you can still chase the others on later playthroughs. The only way to miss it entirely is to inherit the Frenzied Flame, since that locks you out of every Elden Lord ending.

Before you trigger any ending, remember what happens next. Fextralife's New Game Plus page says the game offers to start Journey 2 after the credits, but you can postpone it and begin later from the Table of Lost Grace in the Roundtable Hold. Quest progress, Great Runes and Mending Runes do not carry into the new journey, so finish the side content you care about before you commit.

Age of the Stars: Ranni's Ending

Age of the Stars is the ending many players treat as the fullest conclusion, and it is also the most involved. It requires Ranni the Witch's full questline, one of the longest in the game, which starts at her tower in Liurnia and sends you across several regions before her final scene. Fextralife lists the key condition plainly: complete her questline, and either never inherit the Frenzied Flame or quell it with Miquella's Needle.

When you reach the end, you do not touch the statue at all. Instead, Ranni's summon sign appears on the floor of the arena after the Elden Beast, and using it triggers the ending. PowerPyx warns that killing Ranni makes this ending impossible on that playthrough, so be careful with aggressive play around her tower.

Her questline also interacts with Radahn. Fextralife's Radahn page says the Radahn Festival can start by progressing far enough in Ranni's quest, that defeating Radahn opens the way to Nokron, Eternal City, and that Ranni returns to Ranni's Rise afterward if she was not there before. If you are planning a full run, our recommended boss order shows where Radahn and the underground areas fit naturally.

The Three Mending Rune Endings

Three endings come from special Mending Runes, which you earn by finishing specific NPC questlines. Each one gives you an extra option at Fractured Marika, and each still makes you Elden Lord.

  • Age of the Duskborn. Finish Fia's questline to receive the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Fia's story ties in with the Lichdragon Fortissax fight, and PowerPyx flags that killing Fia before that boss makes the Fortissax trophy missable.
  • Age of Order. Complete the questline of Goldmask and Brother Corhyn to get the Mending Rune of Perfect Order. It is an easy questline to miss on a first run, so check a quest guide before you reach Leyndell.
  • Blessing of Despair. Complete Dung Eater's quest and give him Seedbed Curses until he hands over the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

Because all three are Elden Lord endings, they all count toward the same Elden Lord trophy as Age of Fracture. You only need them if you want to see every scene, not for the platinum. That also means you can carry more than one Mending Rune into the final fight and pick whichever you prefer at the statue.

Your Elden Lord ending choice does not depend on your build or class, so there is no need to respec for it. If you want to try a different playstyle on a second journey anyway, our guide to every Larval Tear covers the rebirth costs, and Fextralife confirms that Larval Tears carry over into New Game Plus.

Lord of the Frenzied Flame and How to Undo It

The Frenzied Flame is the ending with a real point of no return. To reach it, you go into the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds beneath Leyndell. PowerPyx's roadmap describes the path: an altar behind the arena of Mohg, the Omen, a parkour route, and a red door where you meet the Three Fingers and receive a burned mark. From that moment, Fextralife says you are locked out of all other endings.

There is one way back. Miquella's Needle removes the Frenzied Flame, and Fextralife calls it a permanent reversal for that playthrough. You get it by completing Millicent's questline and returning the Unalloyed Gold Needle to the Scarlet Aeonia that grows where Malenia falls. You then use it at Dragonlord Placidusax's arena in Crumbling Farum Azula, and you only need to be in the arena, not fight the dragon.

When you do choose this ending, you touch Fractured Marika after the Elden Beast and pick the option to become the Lord of the Frenzied Flame. It is the one ending that is not tied to a Mending Rune or a summon sign, only to the choice you made in the tunnels much earlier.

Getting All Three Ending Trophies

On PlayStation, the ending trophies are three of the game's 42: Elden Lord, Age of the Stars and Lord of Frenzied Flame, all gold. PowerPyx lists all three as missable and estimates 60 to 100 hours for the platinum. Fextralife adds that without backups you need three playthroughs, not six, because any of the four Elden Lord endings covers the Elden Lord trophy.

PowerPyx's roadmap reaches all three in a single playthrough by backing up your save after the Elden Beast and before touching anything in the arena. The order it uses:

  1. Trigger an Elden Lord ending first, then restore the backup.
  2. Use Ranni's summon sign for Age of the Stars, then restore again.
  3. Do the Frenzied Flame steps last, since they lock out the other endings.

Whichever route you take, run a quick check before the final stretch in Leyndell, Ashen Capital, because the game gives you no reminder. Ask yourself four questions. Is Ranni's questline finished, so her sign will appear after the Elden Beast? Which Mending Runes are in your key items, if any? Have you already met the Three Fingers, which would mean only the Frenzied Flame is open unless you use the needle? And if you want both Ranni's ending and the Frenzied Flame on the same character, is Millicent's questline done so Miquella's Needle is available? Answering those takes a minute and can save you an entire extra playthrough.

If you prefer separate playthroughs instead, Fextralife notes that Bell Bearing shop unlocks carry over as long as you hand the bearings to the Twin Maiden Husks before starting the next journey. Our Bell Bearings guide covers which ones survive the reset. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has its own final boss and story, and our guide to starting the DLC explains when to fit it in before you trigger any ending.

If You Would Rather Not Do Three Endings

Seeing every ending is worth doing once, but grinding the same final bosses three times for trophies is not everyone's idea of fun. The store's Elden Ring Platinum Trophy service unlocks the full list on your account, which its page breaks down as all 24 Bronze, all 14 Silver and all 3 Gold trophies plus the Platinum.

It works on PS4 and PS5 only, and you enter your account details at checkout. The page lets you choose between staggered timestamps spread across different days or instant timestamps that unlock within seconds. You can read the full breakdown on the Elden Ring Platinum Trophy page or look through the rest of the Elden Ring section.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many endings does Elden Ring have?

There are six in total. Four of them make you Elden Lord, and the other two are the Frenzied Flame ending and Ranni's ending.

What is the best Elden Ring ending?

There is no official best one. Age of the Stars, Ranni's ending, is the one many players see as the fullest conclusion because it requires the longest questline.

Can you get every ending in one playthrough?

Only by backing up your save after the Elden Beast and restoring it, which is the method PowerPyx describes. Otherwise Fextralife says three playthroughs cover all the trophies.

How do I undo the Frenzied Flame?

Use Miquella's Needle at Dragonlord Placidusax's arena in Crumbling Farum Azula. The needle comes from completing Millicent's questline.

Do I have to start New Game Plus after the ending?

No. Fextralife says you can postpone Journey 2 and start it later from the Table of Lost Grace in the Roundtable Hold.

Which ending gives the Elden Lord trophy?

Any of the four Elden Lord endings: Age of Fracture, Age of the Duskborn, Age of Order or Blessing of Despair.
