Valor Mortis Trophy Guide: Roadmap to the Platinum

Valor Mortis YouTube thumbnail: Valor Mortis Trophy Guide - Combat Trophies Explained

The Valor Mortis platinum takes one careful playthrough of roughly 15 to 25 hours, with no difficulty settings, no online trophies and a 39-trophy list that is mostly bosses, side quests and a dozen combat feats. This Valor Mortis trophy guide lays out the order that works, flags the single upgrade decision that can quietly lock you out of a trophy, and points to the easiest spots for every feat. If you only remember one thing, it is this: spend one of your two Quintessential Transmutation Materials on the Shield.

We checked this against PowerPyx's trophy roadmap and side quest guide, the games.gg trophy list, MetaBot's datamined boss and Amber tables, and Steam's public achievement statistics in early November 2026.

The Platinum at a Glance

Valor Mortis launched on 13 October 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC after a delay from its original 24 September date. The trophy list has 39 entries: one platinum (Nephtis Superioris), 3 gold, 14 silver and 21 bronze. PowerPyx rates it 5 out of 10 for difficulty and estimates 15 to 25 hours depending on skill, with zero online trophies and zero glitched trophies at the time of writing. Steam lists the same 39 achievements, and games.gg notes that Xbox frames the completion achievement as its new Mythic tier.

A few structural facts shape the whole hunt:

  • One difficulty for everyone. There is no easy mode and no trophy tied to a harder setting, because there are no settings to change.
  • One playthrough is enough. The minimum is a single run. After the final boss you are put back near the last Lantern and can travel anywhere to clean up.
  • No New Game Plus at launch. PowerPyx reports it is planned for a later 2026 patch. As of November 2026 nothing on the list depends on it.
  • No manual saves. You get a single playthrough save. Choosing Back to Menu from the pause menu forces a save exactly where you are standing, which matters if you want to keep a backup (see our save file location guide for how that works per platform).

The list breaks into four groups: story boss kills, arsenal and upgrade trophies, side quest trophies, and combat feats. The first group takes care of itself. The other three are where planning pays off.

The Roadmap: One Thorough Playthrough

The game's areas are linear and progress with the story, so the most efficient route is simply to explore each region fully the first time through. Mild spoiler note: the boss names below reveal who you fight, though not why. The story trophies are Torn Banner (General Lothaire, whom you are meant to lose to at the end of Chapter 1 and actually beat in Chapter 2), Ultima Ratio Regum (The Iron Marshall), Not a Cat Person (the Sphinx), Quixotry (the Slaughtermill), My Dying Bride (the Bride), True Oath (Justicar Aurelius), Lament of the Limbs (Experiment 83), Birdwatcher (meeting the Shrike, not killing it), Coup de Grace (the Orphan), Behemoth (Nephtis Superioris) and the gold In His Own Image for the final boss, the Entity.

Arsenal Absolute, for owning all nine weapons and Transmutations, also comes with the story, because the game makes you pick every one of them up before certain areas open. PowerPyx lists when each arrives:

  • Melee: Saber in Chapter 1, Rapier in Chapter 3, Claymore in Chapter 6.
  • Firearms: Pistol in Chapter 2, Blunderbuss in Chapter 3, Musket in Chapter 5.
  • Transmutations: Fire in Chapter 1, Stasis in Chapter 4, Shield in Chapter 8.

The practical order is: play the story, open every chest, talk to everyone who talks to you, and pick off the combat feats as soon as you have the right tool. The Claymore feat waits for Chapter 6 and the Shield feat waits for a fully upgraded Shield, so those two naturally land late. The final boss is reached through the stone door near the Ancient Lair Lantern in the Caverns once Chapter 11 begins, according to PowerPyx, and it is the trophy most players are slowest to earn.

Two habits make the run smoother. First, spend Catalysts at a Lantern before you push into a new area, since dying drops everything you carry. Our Catalyst farming guide covers the best loops if you fall behind on levels. Second, keep a note of which upgrade materials you have used, because the next section is the one place this list can bite.

The Upgrade Trap: Quintessential Materials and Abyssal Eviction

PowerPyx counts zero missable trophies, and that is true in the sense that nothing disappears when a chapter ends. There is still one decision you can get wrong permanently. Transmutations max out at level 5, and the final level needs a Quintessential Transmutation Material. PowerPyx, KeenGamer and MetaBot all count only two of those in the game, so only two of the three Transmutations can ever reach level 5.

That matters because of two trophies. Transmutation Artifex only asks for any single Transmutation at max level. Abyssal Eviction, however, requires killing an enemy by knocking it into the abyss with Shield Bash, and Shield Bash only unlocks at Shield level 5. If you spend both Quintessential Materials on Fire and Stasis, Abyssal Eviction is gone for that save, and none of the guides we read describe a way to get a spent material back. The fix is simple: put one Quintessential Material into the Shield. That single choice earns both Transmutation Artifex and access to Abyssal Eviction. KeenGamer suggests the Monster Hunt reward for Fire and the Fortress Traverse chest material for the Shield.

The firearm trophy has a similar shape. Gun of Glory needs one firearm at level 10, which costs a Masterwork Firearm Part. PowerPyx found only one, while MetaBot's data lists two placed in the world. Either way, plan on maxing exactly one gun and choose it deliberately; our best weapons guide compares the Pistol and Musket for that slot. Bladesmith is the relaxed one: there are enough Quintessential Blade Materials to max all three blades.

Once the Shield is at level 5, PowerPyx's easiest Abyssal Eviction spot is the path around the outside of the castle from the Fortress Traverse Lantern, where two human enemies attack you near a wooden platform. Lure them onto it, hold the Shield and bash. If it fails, rest at the Lantern and try again. Steam data shows it is one of the rarest achievements in the game, at 6.6% of players as of 5 November 2026.

Side Quests and the Ambersmith Gold

PowerPyx counts 20 side quests. Six carry their own trophy: We Wear the Same Colours (Oathbound, gold), A Bitter Cure (Laudanum), Blood and Wine (the Curious Case of Seamus Diggory), Hand in the Jar (the Deserter), Aggressive Reconnaissance (An Unheard Farewell) and The Book of Beasts (Monster Hunt). The rest still matter because they hand out Ambers and upgrade materials.

Sources disagree on how strict the timing is. games.gg warns that side quests can be missed if you rush past their characters. PowerPyx is more specific: apart from The Choir, which only runs in the jail area during Chapter 10 and rewards a consumable that no trophy needs, every side quest can be started and finished after the story. The safe reading is to do them as you go and treat the post-game as a cleanup window, not a plan.

The longest is Oathbound. It asks you to find and defeat optional Eternal Guardsman enemies across seven regions, from The Battlefield to the Fortress, each dropping a Mysterious Stone Pyramid and a named emblem. With all seven emblems you receive a stone slab that opens a hidden wall in the Fortress courtyard, and reading the note inside completes the quest. Steam shows only 15.4% of players with that gold so far. Monster Hunt is the other slow one: 17 drawings scattered around the City of Orphans and its sewers.

Ambersmith asks for 28 of the 29 unique Ambers, not all 29 and not any duplicates. The reason for the missing one is An Unheard Farewell: its reward is a choice between two Ambers, and MetaBot's data shows Sleight of Hand has no other source, while Lucky Shot also sits in chests. Pick Sleight of Hand there and you can still collect every Amber. Amber choices also shape your build, which our best build guide covers in detail.

Combat Feats and Where to Set Them Up

Most of the bronze list is combat challenges. PowerPyx's best farming spot for several of them is the barn across from the Fallen Village Marketplace Lantern: walking in triggers a group of five villagers, and standing in the doorway bunches them up. Resting at the Lantern resets the group, so you can retry endlessly.

  • Scattershot (5 kills with one Blunderbuss shot): PowerPyx says it works with a level 6 Blunderbuss and the Collateral Damage upgrade, fired into the bunched villagers.
  • Hood-Snatcher (3 decapitations with one Claymore attack): same barn, a charged heavy attack into the group.
  • Flaming Feast (Ignite 4 enemies with one Fire cast): back up, let them cluster, hold Fire in one continuous cast.
  • Aerial Annihilation and Windhover: from the Outskirts Broken Bridge Lantern, the second and third wall jumps put an enemy right in front of you. Buy the Airborne Aiming skill first so time slows while you aim mid-air. Windhover needs three Pistol kills in the air, across separate jumps.
  • Symphony of Steel: ten parries in a row with no damage taken. A blocked hit counts as damage, so a single enemy you know well is the best partner.
  • God's Trigger: ten consecutive headshots or weak point hits. Melee in between is fine; a missed shot is not. The opening Battlefield is a forgiving place to do it.
  • Statue of Insanity: fully freeze one of the Iron Regiment Remnants with Stasis. PowerPyx points to the one on the path from the Vale of Wrath Wolfsbane Field Lantern.
  • Fight Fire With Fire: stand in a campfire to Ignite yourself, then Ignite an enemy. The cave near the Caverns Last Sunlight Lantern has both.
  • Frenzied Flame: light the sword stuck in the ground in a room below the Fortress Chapel, a nod to bonfires elsewhere in the genre.
  • Jackknife: damage an enemy with every blade, firearm and Transmutation in one life, which requires the Shield from Chapter 8. PowerPyx suggests cycling them again, with full Fire and Stasis effects, if it does not pop.

The three joke trophies take minutes. Mind the Gap is dying by repeatedly dropping into the abyss. Rookie Mistake is trying to drink a Ferrofluid Flask with none left. In the Nick of Time is touching a Lantern below 20% Health with no flasks, which PowerPyx notes can happen naturally if you burn your flasks and lose the first Lothaire fight.

What the Rarest Trophies Tell You

Steam's global statistics are a useful reality check on where players stall. As of 5 November 2026, only 6.1% of Steam players have the all-achievements unlock, and the rarest individual entries line up with the advice above: Abyssal Eviction at 6.6%, Hood-Snatcher at 8.3%, Aerial Annihilation at 8.4%, Jackknife at 8.9% and Frenzied Flame at 10.3%. Those are all deliberate setups rather than difficult fights, so most of the gap between finishing the story and the platinum is planning, not skill.

The boss-heavy gold, In His Own Image, is the one that really tests you. MetaBot's data gives the Entity 5,000 Health, the most of any boss, and 6 of its 19 attacks are red unblockable moves you have to dodge. Practice dodging into those attacks rather than away from them, and keep your best flask upgrades for this fight.

If You Would Rather Not Grind It Out

Some players love a methodical cleanup; others finish the story and have no appetite for 17 sewer drawings and a Blunderbuss upgraded just for one trophy. For PS5 players in the second group, the store's Valor Mortis platinum trophy service unlocks every trophy on your account, with a choice of Instant time-stamps or Legit time-stamps. It is a PS5 service, so Xbox and Steam achievement hunters will need to finish the list themselves with the steps above.

The Valor Mortis hub also lists the store's modded save for PS5 and PC if you just want a powerful character for the cleanup. Note that the save does not include the platinum; the trophy service is a separate product.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many trophies are in Valor Mortis?

There are 39: the Nephtis Superioris platinum, 3 gold, 14 silver and 21 bronze. Steam lists the same 39 as achievements, and there are no DLC trophies as of November 2026.

How long does the Valor Mortis platinum take?

PowerPyx estimates 15 to 25 hours depending on skill, and only one playthrough is required because you can free-roam after the final boss.

Are there missable trophies in Valor Mortis?

PowerPyx lists none, but you can lock yourself out of Abyssal Eviction by spending both Quintessential Transmutation Materials on Fire and Stasis. Put one into the Shield to stay covered.

Does Valor Mortis have difficulty trophies?

No. The game has a single difficulty for everyone, so no trophy depends on a difficulty setting.

Is there New Game Plus in Valor Mortis?

Not at launch. PowerPyx reports it is planned for a patch later in 2026, but no trophy needs it.

Why does Ambersmith only need 28 Ambers?

One side quest, An Unheard Farewell, makes you choose between two Ambers, so the trophy asks for 28 of the 29 unique Ambers. Taking Sleight of Hand there lets you still find all 29.
