Every Minecraft Cape in 2026 and Which You Can Still Get

Minecraft YouTube thumbnail: How to get OG and Caped Minecraft Accounts in 2024

No Minecraft account can hold every cape, because many official capes were only ever given to Mojang staff, MINECON attendees or individual community members. So when people search for a Minecraft account with all capes, what they really want is every cape that a normal player could earn, and that list keeps changing as promotions open and close. Below is how capes are grouped, which ones you can still claim as of November 2026, which ones just closed, and how to equip what you own.

We checked this against the Minecraft Wiki's cape list, Minecraft.net's cape announcements and promotion terms, and the official Minecraft Dungeons II cape guide in November 2026.

How Official Capes Are Grouped

The Minecraft Wiki sorts official capes by how they were handed out, and that grouping explains at a glance why no account has them all. Ownership capes were given for owning or logging into Minecraft games during a set window. Virtual event capes came from online events, social media campaigns and event servers. Physical event capes were tied to in-person events such as MINECON or the Minecraft Experience. The remaining groups were never public at all.

  • Staff capes: given only to Mojang or Microsoft employees, such as the Mojang Studios cape.
  • Personal capes: Java-only capes handed to specific community members, often as thanks.
  • Competition capes: Java capes such as the Scrolls Champion cape, which went only to top competition finishers.
  • Volunteer capes: Java capes for translators, moderators and Realms map makers.
  • MINECON capes: Java capes for the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016 conventions, which can no longer be obtained.

The wiki states that capes released to the public cannot be obtained after their promotion ends, and it also notes that capes cannot be transferred between accounts. Put those two rules together and the realistic goal for a player today is narrower: grab every cape that is still open, and know which closed ones you missed.

Capes You Can Still Get in November 2026

Only a few capes are open right now, and they work very differently from one another.

  • Pan Cape: the wiki describes it as given to all Bedrock players since 2020 and still given out today, and it reached Java players on May 8, 2025. If you own Minecraft and sign in with a Microsoft account, there is a good chance it is already in your wardrobe.
  • Hero Cape: Minecraft.net's Dungeons II cape guide says to play Minecraft Dungeons, then log into Minecraft Dungeons II before December 31, 2026. Once the cape appears in Dungeons II, log into Minecraft Java or Bedrock with the same Microsoft account to unlock it there too.

The same guide mentions further Dungeons II cosmetics that appear at events and promotions over the game's lifetime without a fixed schedule, so it is worth checking Minecraft.net's news page from time to time rather than relying on rumors about upcoming capes.

That Hero Cape deadline is the one to act on this year. The official page stresses using the same Microsoft account across every game, so check which account your Dungeons purchase sits on before you start.

Capes That Recently Closed

Several popular capes from the last two years have already ended, which is worth knowing before you trust anyone claiming they can still be claimed.

The Common Cape terms are a good example of how these promotions are written. They allowed one cape per Microsoft account per edition, and they describe the promotional items as non-transferable, non-refundable and not redeemable for cash. The Copper Cape article set three routes: placing a copper golem statue in a Bedrock world, watching Minecraft streams on TikTok or Twitch for a code, or collecting a physical code at TwitchCon in San Diego.

The Aurora Cape is the most recent to close. It launched alongside Minecraft Dungeons II and was earned by watching an eligible Dungeons II livestream: 15 minutes on Twitch from a Partner or Affiliate streaming in the Dungeons II category with drops enabled, or 3 minutes on a Game Rewards stream on TikTok. The code was then redeemed at minecraft.net/redeem for use in Java and Bedrock. The watch window ran from September 29 to October 14, 2026, so anyone who missed it is now out of luck unless Mojang brings it back.

Other public capes on the wiki's virtual event list include Cherry Blossom, Follower's, Purple Heart, MCC 15th Year, Home, Menace, Yearn, Zombie Horse and Builder. The Yearn cape, for example, came from completing the A Minecraft Movie Bedrock event server. All of them followed the same pattern of a limited window.

Java Capes, Bedrock Capes and Capes on Both

Edition matters. Many recent capes appear on both Java and Bedrock because they are tied to your Microsoft account, but older ones do not cross over. The wiki notes that Java-only capes, including the Migrator, MINECON, personal, competition and volunteer capes, do not appear on Bedrock, while the Progress Pride cape was Bedrock-only.

The Migrator Cape deserves its own mention because it tells you something about an account's history. It was granted to Java players who moved their Mojang account to a Microsoft account, and that migration closed for good on September 19, 2023. If you are trying to judge how old an account is, our guide on checking a Minecraft account's creation date explains how capes like this one work as clues.

If you are still deciding which edition to focus on, our Java vs Bedrock comparison covers the wider differences, including where cosmetics live in each.

How to Equip a Cape You Own

Owning a cape and wearing it are separate steps, and new players often miss the second one.

  1. Java Edition: open the Minecraft Launcher and choose a cape in the skin menu, or pick one on your profile page at Minecraft.net. The wiki notes capes are stored on Mojang's servers like skins, so they also show on older versions.
  2. Turn the cape on in game: on Java, the Skin Customization options include a Cape toggle; if it is off, nobody sees your cape.
  3. Bedrock Edition: open the Character Creator (the Dressing Room) and use its Capes section. Most capes there are rated Legendary.
  4. Cross-edition capes: the wiki says signing into Bedrock is often needed before a cross-platform cape activates on Java, so log into both once.

Capes from Bedrock skin packs are locked to that pack's skin and cannot be used with custom skins. Changing your Java name does not affect capes, which stay on the account; the Minecraft name change guide covers what does and does not carry over after a rename.

Checking Which Capes an Account Already Has

Before chasing anything new, take stock of what you own. Your cape collection belongs to the Microsoft account, not to a device, so the check is the same wherever you play.

  • On Java: capes are picked in the launcher's skin menu or on your Minecraft.net profile page, so those two places are where to look. If a cape is not offered there, it has not reached your Java profile yet.
  • On Bedrock: open the Capes section of the Character Creator. Event capes such as Copper were delivered to the Dressing Room, and the Copper terms allowed up to 30 days after the promotion ended for delivery.
  • When a cape seems missing: the Common Cape FAQ says entitlement sync can take up to fifteen minutes at peak times, and recommends restarting Minecraft to force an inventory refresh and confirming you signed in with the same Microsoft account.

Wrong-account sign-ins cause most missing-cape reports. Families often have several Microsoft accounts on one console or PC, and a cape claimed on a parent's account will never appear on a child's profile. Sign out, sign back in with the account that claimed the cape, and check again before contacting support.

Fake Capes and Cape Scams

Because capes are rare, they attract scams. Two points keep you out of trouble.

  • Mod capes are not official capes. The wiki explains that unofficial mod capes are only visible to other users of the same mod, so a cape that looks great in your client may be invisible to everyone else on a server.
  • Free cape links are a classic phishing hook. Hypixel's account security guide warns that messages offering free MINECON capes are likely phishing, since all MINECON cape links have been retired.

Official cape codes are only ever redeemed at minecraft.net/redeem while signed in with your own Microsoft account. Any site that asks for your password to give you a cape is not official. If you hang out in server lobbies where capes and ranks are on full display, our explainer on Hypixel ranks from VIP to MVP++ covers the other status symbols you will see there.

Accounts That Already Carry Rare Capes

Since closed capes cannot be earned again, the only accounts that hold them are the ones that claimed them in time. The store's Minecraft hub includes account listings from marketplace sellers, some of them carrying several capes on a Java and Bedrock account. Bear in mind that the Microsoft Services Agreement bars users from selling the services or transferring licenses or rights to access them.
