Lords of the Fallen Best Builds After the Final 2.5 Update

The best builds in Lords of the Fallen as of November 2026 are a Radiance paladin with a shield and holy buffs, an Inferno pyromancer, an Umbral hybrid that splits Radiance and Inferno, a heavy Strength fighter, and an Agility build that stacks status effects with dual daggers, with a bow ranger as a solid ranged alternative. All six are viable on the final Version 2.5 balance, and each works from a different starting class. Below are the stat targets and core gear for each, plus the patch changes that shaped them.

Stat spreads and equipment come from Fextralife's curated builds page, and the balance notes come from CI Games' official patch notes for v2.0.101 and Version 2.5 plus its developer beginner tips, all checked in November 2026.

How Builds Work After the Final Update

Every build rests on six attributes: Strength, Agility, Endurance, Vitality, Radiance and Inferno. Weapons show scaling grades from S down to E for the stats they use, and a better letter means more damage per point you invest. Weapons and shields also gain rune slots as you upgrade them, up to three on a fully upgraded piece, and each slot shape matches Strength, Agility, Radiance or Inferno runes.

Magic comes in three schools. CI Games' own tips describe Inferno as fiery area damage and damage over time, Radiance as healing and buffs, and Umbral as spectral weapons and explosive damage. You need a catalyst for the matching school, and catalysts take the place of a ranged weapon in your loadout.

Two patches matter most for these builds. The second-anniversary update, v2.0.101 in October 2025, made spellcasting faster, let you dodge out of casts earlier, raised the mana you gain from each Radiance and Inferno level, made mana stones cheaper and more effective, and lowered stat requirements on several early spells. Then Version 2.5 in December 2025, the final major update, reforged several boss weapons with new signature animations, including Pieta's Sword, the Punishment and Judgment hammers and the Flickering Flail.

Radiance Paladin: The Beginner-Friendly Pick

Fextralife calls this the most beginner-friendly build, and it is easy to see why. You stand behind a shield in solid armor, hit with a holy weapon and keep buffs running. It starts best from the Hallowed Knight, Orian Preacher or Dark Crusader.

  • Weapon: Orian Preacher Hammer early, Pieta's Sword later.
  • Armor: Fitzroy's set.
  • Catalyst: Agony's Light.
  • Accessories: Empyrean Pendant, Mineowner's Ring and Ring of Duty.
  • Spells: Radiant Flare, Radiant Weapon, Blessed Reflections and Aura of Tenacity.

The stat spread pushes Radiance to 34 and Vitality to 26, with just enough Strength and Endurance to wield the weapon and block. Blessed Reflections was one of the spells whose requirements came down in v2.0.101, so this build comes online earlier than it did at launch, and Radiant Slash received the same treatment if you want a second offensive option. One caution: the same patch reduced the healing of Invigorating Aura, so do not plan your sustain around that spell.

The appeal here is forgiveness. With a shield raised you take far less wither damage from blocking than you would with a light weapon, and Radiant buffs let you keep pressure on bosses without dropping your guard for long. If you are new to soulslikes, this is the build to start with.

Inferno Pyromancer: The Seismic Sorcerer

This is a pure fire caster built around 35 Inferno, starting from the Pyric Cultist. It trades defense for heavy area damage and burning effects.

  • Weapons: Axe of the Flayed and Bloodlust for close-range backup.
  • Armor: the Pyric Cultist set.
  • Catalyst: Pyric Cultist Catalyst, or Searing Accusation.
  • Accessories: Ring of Night's Fire, Rhogar's Delight and Puissance Root.
  • Spells: Infernal Orb, Seismic Slam, Lava Burst and Magma Surge.

The v2.0.101 changes were good for Inferno: Pyroclastic Stone, Infernal Hounds and Incinerating Blast all had their stat requirements lowered, and every Inferno level now adds more mana. Note that Infernal Orb and Lava Burst had their damage reduced in PvP only, so the build is unchanged for the campaign. Keep Vitality at 20 or higher; a caster with low health dies to stray hits while channeling.

Fire also has a practical early-game use. CI Games points out that Fire Salts are highly effective against Pieta, the first main boss, so her fight is a good early test for a young pyromancer's spell list.

Umbral Death Knight: The Hybrid Caster

Fextralife's Umbral build is a hybrid that splits Radiance and Inferno evenly at 22 each, with 25 Vitality for survival, and deals mostly wither damage. Any class can work, but a balanced starter avoids wasting points.

  • Weapons: Rosamund's Sword and the Pale Eye Shield.
  • Armor: Angel of the Void set.
  • Catalyst: Charm of Fortune's Sight, which Molhu sells.
  • Accessories: Mineowner's Ring, Ring of Night's Fire and Faceless Carving.
  • Spells: Umbral Orb, Umbral Weapon, Latimer's Javelin and Umbral Guardian.

Umbral got the broadest buff of any school in v2.0.101: stat requirements dropped across all Umbral spells and wither damage went up for every one of them. The downside is that Putrefaction and Graveyard Fog now cost more mana, so build your rotation around Umbral Orb and Umbral Weapon instead. Wither damage pairs naturally with the game's withered-health mechanic, since you restore your own grayed-out health by landing hits quickly.

Strength: Lord of Cinder and the Moon's Judgement Hybrid

For pure melee, Fextralife's Lord of Cinder pushes Strength to 40 with 30 in both Endurance and Vitality. It starts from the Hallowed Knight.

  • Weapons: Proselyte Sword, Trapper Crossbow and the Hallowed Knight Shield (or any shield).
  • Armor: Vanguard helm, gauntlets and leggings with the Proselyte Garb.
  • Accessories: Crossbowman's Ring, Lucent Sword Ring and Warrior's Claw.

The crossbow is not decoration. CI Games' tips note that ranged weapons such as crossbows, grenades, hatchets and spears are very powerful and scale with your level even though they cannot be upgraded, and headshots deal extra damage. Pull dangerous enemies one at a time, then finish them in melee.

If you like Strength but want a lighter feel, look at Moon's Judgement, the sword every owner received for free on the game's second anniversary in October 2025. CI Games designed it as a true Strength and Agility hybrid: its requirements lean slightly toward Strength, it scales comparably with both, and it has two Strength rune sockets and one Agility socket. Compared with the pure Strength version it deals more stagger and visceral damage, costs less stamina per swing and weighs less.

Agility Builds: Assassin and Blackfeather Archer

The Assassin is Fextralife's Agility melee pick: 40 Agility, 30 Vitality and 15 each in Radiance and Inferno for utility spells. Start as the Exiled Stalker.

  • Weapons: a pair of Kinrangr Hunter Daggers.
  • Catalyst: Charm of Fortune's Sight for Poison Weapon, Umbral Orb and Putrefaction.
  • Accessories: Pendant of Burden, Bloodbane Ring, and either the Mineowner's Ring or Lucent Sword Ring.

The idea is fast triple status buildup. Daggers also parry faster than other weapons, which the developers recommend for dual-wield setups, and a parry staggers enemies and sets up a Grievous Strike. The game's status effects include bleed, burn, ignite, smite, poison and frostbite, so stacking several at once melts health bars quickly.

Salts make this build even more flexible. They coat your weapon in an element for a short time, and CI Games' tips give two clear examples: Fire Salts against Pieta and Holy Salts against Umbral enemies such as the Remnant. Keeping a few types in your pouch lets the Assassin add a fourth damage type when a boss resists the poison and bleed you normally rely on.

For range, the Blackfeather Archer sets Agility to 35 and both Endurance and Vitality to 30, starting from the Blackfeather Ranger. It uses Hallowed Condemnation, Hallowed Praise or the Bow of the Mutilated, keeps the Blackfeather Ranger armor and runs Princess' Sting, the Blackfeather Ranger Ring, the Poacher's or Envenomed Ring, Grayson's Ring and the Lucent Sword Ring. Aim for the head: the developers confirm headshots deal extra damage.

Whichever build you choose, the order you level matters. Our starting class comparison shows which class wastes the fewest points for each plan, and the respec guide covers how to switch builds with a Rebirth Chrysalis. Damage also depends on your weapon's upgrade level, so pair any build with the weapon upgrade guide. Playing with a partner opens up support roles, too; a Radiance healer behind a Strength tank is a classic combination in two-player co-op.

Skipping the Gear Hunt

The hardest part of trying a new build is collecting the pieces: boss weapons need Remembrances and Umbral Scourings, and some rings and spells sit deep in late-game areas. If you would rather test every combination right away, the store's All Unlocks modded save includes all weapons including ranged, all armor including PvP sets and exclusives, all rings, spells, runes, pendants, ammunition, emotes, Umbral Eyes and tincts, 9,999 consumables and upgrade materials, and a 300 million Vigor bonus. You need to own the game already, and because it is applied by logging into your account, you provide your PlayStation or PC account details after checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the strongest build in Lords of the Fallen?

There is no single strongest build on the 2.5 balance. A Radiance paladin is the most forgiving, and casters gained the most from the v2.0.101 magic changes, with Umbral spells getting both lower requirements and more wither damage.

Is magic good in Lords of the Fallen now?

Yes. The October 2025 update shortened cast times, added cast cancelling, improved mana scaling and lowered spell requirements, especially for Umbral spells.

What is the best beginner build?

The Radiance paladin. It uses a shield, solid armor and holy buffs, and it works from the Hallowed Knight, Orian Preacher or Dark Crusader.

Which stats does Umbral magic use?

The common Umbral setup is a hybrid; Fextralife's Death Knight build sets both Radiance and Inferno to 22 and uses the Charm of Fortune's Sight catalyst.

What is Moon's Judgement?

A free sword given to all owners in the October 2025 anniversary update. It is a Strength and Agility hybrid with two Strength sockets and one Agility socket.

Can I change my build later?

Yes. A Rebirth Chrysalis lets you reassign all level points at Pieta, though no stat can go below your starting class value.
