Enshrouded Legendary Weapons: How to Get and Max Them

Legendary weapons in Enshrouded are not a fixed list of named items: legendary is the top quality tier, and almost any sword, bow, staff, wand or greatsword can roll it from chests or enemy drops. As of November 2026 and the 1.0 release, the best places to find them are gold and Shroud chests in late-game regions, Hollow Halls runs and powerful enemies, and the reason to chase them is simple: a legendary weapon has more upgrade steps and perks than any crafted copy. Here is how the system works now, where the drops come from and how to turn a lucky find into an endgame weapon.

We checked this against Keen Games' 1.0 changelog, the Wake of the Water and Patch 10 notes, Patch 1.0.1.0, and the official Enshrouded Wiki pages on runes, gems and Hollow Halls in November 2026.

What Legendary Means in Enshrouded

Weapons and armor come in five qualities: common, uncommon, rare, epic and legendary. Since Update 8, Forging the Path, quality does not change an item's base stats; it decides how many upgrade levels and perks the item offers. That is the whole appeal. A legendary bow and a rare bow of the same level hit the same at first, but the legendary one keeps unlocking perks long after the rare one has run out of upgrades.

The ceiling went up with 1.0 on 15 October 2026. Characters now cap at level 50 and equipment at level 55 when fully upgraded, up from the level 45 player cap and level 50 weapon cap that Wake of the Water introduced in November 2025. Any guide that calls a level 50 weapon "max level" was written before 1.0.

Weapon types worth knowing for legendary hunting include one-handed swords, axes and clubs, two-handed axes, hammers and clubs, daggers, bows, wands, staffs and greatswords. Greatswords are the newest type: Wake of the Water added them and made them appear in chests from the very first biome onward.

Where Legendary Weapons Drop

Keen has tuned legendary odds several times, so the current picture is the sum of three updates:

  • Wake of the Water (10 November 2025) reworked every chest's drop table. The chance for legendary weapons rose significantly in silver and gold chests, with even higher chances in the Shroud versions of each chest, and epic chances rose too. Enemy weapons can also drop at any quality up to legendary.
  • Patch 10 (13 November 2025) fixed legendary enemy weapons dropping far too often. Keen said the rate had reached almost a third of enemy loot. The same patch removed legendary items from the first tutorial cave.
  • 1.0 (15 October 2026) raised the chance for legendary items by 5 percent for all chests, gave wooden chests a chance to hold a weapon or armor piece at silver-chest level, and removed common items from silver chest loot.

The practical takeaway is to prioritize gold chests and anything sitting inside the Shroud, especially in the later regions where item levels are highest. A legendary weapon from an early biome is still a low-level weapon, so for endgame use you want the drops from Veilwater Basin, the Albaneve Summits and Cinder's Cradle.

The Best Farming Routes in 1.0

Hollow Halls are the most reliable loop for high-quality loot. 1.0 opened the long-locked gates of the Hollow Halls in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin, so there are now late-game dungeons for the two newest pre-1.0 regions. Keen also cut the cost of opening chests in Hollow Halls end rooms by 25 percent and reworked the weapons that drop there so they perform well against the Hollow and still hold up outside the Halls. The wiki notes that Hollow weapons carry a Sacred enhancement that adds 10 percent damage against Hollow enemies.

  • Bring the next key. A tooltip added in 1.0 reminds you to keep resources for the Bone Key that opens the next Hollow Halls in the chain.
  • Upgrade your lockpicks. Locked chests and doors in higher tiers now need new lockpicks, starting with Archaic lockpicks in Cinder's Cradle.
  • Use hourglass capsules. They now appear in far more Shroud locations, add about 70 percent more Shroud time when used, and also drop from large Fell foes, which makes long Shroud chest runs more practical.
  • Kill the big enemies. Elite and boss enemies drop Legendary Runes, which you need to finish upgrading whatever legendary you find.
  • Retry bosses quickly. Since 1.0, enemies recover health gradually after you leave combat instead of resetting at once, so a party that re-engages a boss soon after a wipe faces a boss that has not fully healed. Patch 1.0.1.0 also keeps bosses engaged longer when attacked from range, which stops them healing mid-fight during bow duels.

If you are still under the level of the area you are farming, the Shroud gets dangerous quickly. Our Flame level guide covers the Shroud time each Flame level grants and which red Deadly Shroud zones it opens up.

Upgrading a Legendary Weapon to Level 55

Upgrades cost runes and are done by the crafting survivor for that weapon's class: the Blacksmith for warrior weapons, the Huntress for ranger weapons and the Alchemist for mage weapons. Regular runes come from Fell enemies, chests and dismantling weapons, and since Forging the Path you can recycle unwanted armor, shields, wards and rings into runes as well.

The last steps on a legendary item need Legendary Runes. They drop from powerful enemies (the wiki lists many, from Ancient S.P.D.R. Constructs to Fell Knights) and can be crafted at the Blacksmith or Blacksmith Assistant for 25 regular runes each. 1.0 made this easier by requiring Legendary Runes one upgrade step later than before, so you get further on ordinary runes. A useful habit is to salvage every duplicate or outclassed weapon as you go rather than storing it, because the rune cost of a full upgrade adds up fast.

Runes have one more use worth remembering: the wiki notes they can reset skill points at the Flame Altar. If a new legendary weapon pulls you toward a different build, the respec is paid in the same currency, so keep a reserve.

Weapon Gems and the Gem Forge

Gems are the final layer on a top weapon. The Thralls of Twilight update (13 May 2025) introduced weapon gems, which drop from dangerous enemies and add bonuses and perks to the weapon they are slotted into. Weapons of higher rarity have a chance to roll a gem slot, and the wiki's Legendary Runes page describes the last legendary upgrades as what lets you insert a gem. Gems were originally slotted only at Gem Forges deep in the Shroud; 1.0 lets you place a gem forge station in your own base in the late part of the game.

  • Gem of Toxic Reaction got a damage buff in 1.0 worth +21 percent DPS at level 10, rising to 65 percent at level 50, according to the changelog.
  • Gem of Battle Mania and Gem of Obsession had some stats lowered in the same update.
  • Gem of Lesser Necromancy now has a limit on how many companions it can raise, to balance the new summoning spells and Gems of Necromancy.

Gems also respond to region: the wiki lists the legendary Gem of Focused Light as a drop from Fell Commanders, Scavenger Berserkers and Shroud Stalkers in the Kindlewastes, so specific gems are worth farming in specific places.

Lore Weapons: The Craftable Alternative

If the drop lottery is not going your way, lore weapons are a dependable backup. They are named weapons tied to quests and story locations, and several can be crafted again at higher tiers once you outlevel them; Wake of the Water, for example, let players craft a higher-level Wailing Blade. Dragon's Wing is a good example: the bow is a reward from the quest The Dragons' Last Breath and can also be found in a chest in the Albaneve Summits, and the Hunter can craft it at levels 26, 36 and 46. Crafted versions are rare quality, so they will not match a fully upgraded legendary, but they keep a favorite weapon relevant without waiting on luck.

Patch 1.0.1.0 on 2 November 2026 added two more craftable versions of lore weapons, and 1.0 gave many lore weapons their own models instead of shared ones. Other craftable lore weapons on the wiki include Darya's Staff, Darya's Wand, Dragonsbane, Dreadbane and the Draconian Bow. Pairing a lore weapon with the right armor from our best armor guide is a solid way to bridge the gap until a legendary drop arrives, and the extra levels from our leveling guide open the higher recipe tiers sooner.

Skipping the Weapon Lottery

Farming one legendary per weapon type, then the runes to max each one, is a long grind. On PC, the store's all legendary weapons package lists a set of legendary wands, staffs, swords, hammers, axes and bows plus the game's shields as a bonus; its item breakdown lists mostly level 25 pieces (one staff at level 35), so it suits players in the mid game. For higher-level gear, the legendary weapons with gem slot listing describes 53 legendary weapons at level 50 with a gem slot ready for your own gems.

Both are in-game deliveries for PC only. The rest of the Enshrouded services, including a modded save that covers PS5 and PC, are on the Enshrouded store page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get legendary weapons in Enshrouded?

Open gold and Shroud chests in late-game regions, run Hollow Halls, and defeat armed enemies, whose weapons can drop at any quality up to legendary. Higher-tier chests and Shroud variants have the best odds.

What is the max weapon level in Enshrouded 1.0?

Equipment caps at level 55 when fully upgraded, and characters cap at level 50. Before 1.0, Wake of the Water had set weapons at 50 and characters at 45.

How do I make Legendary Runes?

Craft them at the Blacksmith or Blacksmith Assistant from 25 regular runes each, or collect them from elite and boss enemies.

Do legendary weapons always have a gem slot?

Higher-rarity weapons have a chance for a gem slot, and the wiki ties the final legendary upgrades to inserting a gem. Check the weapon's upgrade screen to see its slot before investing runes.

Are lore weapons legendary?

Not when crafted. Craftable lore weapons such as Dragon's Wing come out at rare quality, but they can be crafted again at higher level tiers as you progress.

Did 1.0 change legendary drop rates?

Yes. The 1.0 changelog raised the chance for legendary items by 5 percent for all chests and improved wooden and silver chest loot.
