Elden Ring Nightreign Remembrances: Every Quest and Reward

Elden Ring YouTube thumbnail: Elden Ring: Nightreign - Remembrances Explained - IGN First

In Elden Ring Nightreign, remembrances are each Nightfarer's personal story quests, tracked in the Journal at the Roundtable Hold, and finishing them earns that character's relics, a Chalice and a Remembrance skin. You unlock new chapters mostly by beating Nightlords with that character, and each remembrance sends you on a specific task, often a named boss in Limveld or a scene in the Hold. Below is how the system works, the steps and rewards for all ten Nightfarers including the Scholar and Undertaker from The Forsaken Hollows, and how to handle them when you play in a group.

We checked these steps against the Elden Ring wiki on wiki.gg (Journal and Remembrance Quests pages), the PCGamesN remembrance guide and Bandai Namco's Nightreign and Forsaken Hollows pages in November 2026. Chapter numbers differ slightly between guides, so we note the tasks and rewards rather than relying on exact numbering. Expect light story spoilers for each character.

How Remembrances Work

Nightreign is a standalone game set in the Elden Ring universe, released by FromSoftware in late May 2025, built around three-day expeditions in Limveld for up to three players. Each playable hero, called a Nightfarer, has a Journal with chapters that reveal their past. Wiki.gg says every character starts with only Chapter 1, and you unlock more mostly by defeating Nightlords with that particular character. Some chapters contain a remembrance, and if the newest one does, you must clear it before the next chapter opens.

Sources describe the Journal's location slightly differently. Wiki.gg places it in the east wing of the Roundtable Hold, while PCGamesN says to go up the short flight of stairs on the southeastern side of the main building. Either way, it is inside the Hold, and it updates automatically as you play each class.

Starting a remembrance moves you into the Realm of Remembrance, a flashback version of the Hold. Characters there hand you a personal objective, usually retrieving an item guarded by specific enemies during an expedition. Wiki.gg notes a few rules that matter:

  • You can pause an unfinished remembrance and come back later without losing progress.
  • Once you complete the objective, you usually do not need to finish the expedition, unless the task is to beat a Nightlord.
  • Completing a chapter spawns a small portal, a white ray of light on the ground, and completed remembrances cannot be replayed.
  • Finishing all of a Nightfarer's quests rewards unique relics, extra Relic Rite vessels and a bonus Remembrance garb.

Wylder, Guardian and Ironeye

Wylder. His story follows memories of a younger sister whose earring he carries. Per PCGamesN, the early tasks are finding the Slate Whetstone in a marked mine in Limveld (Slate Whetstone relic), then collecting three notes in the Hold and talking to the Iron Menial and Duchess (Wylder's Chalice). A later chapter has you kill a Mimic Troll during the Noklateo Shifting Earth event to loot the Silver Tear, which awards the Silver Tear relic and Wylder's Remembrance skin. Wiki.gg adds a final unmarked step: defeat the Night Aspect with the Silver Tear equipped and interact with the corpse for The Wylder's Earring.

Guardian. Kill the golem in Limveld for the Stone Stake relic, then confront the spectral merchant in the Hold for the Guardian's Chalice. Next, buy a tome from the Scale-Bearing Merchant in Limveld for 10,000 runes (Third Volume relic). The last step is talking to the Recluse and choosing whether to forgive her. Wiki.gg says forgiving gives the Witch's Brooch and punishing gives a Cracked Witch's Brooch, and that the choice is cosmetic. Both routes complete the Guardian's Remembrance skin.

Ironeye. Kill the Night Huntsman and bring the Traitor's Letter to the Priestess, which gives the Cracked Sealing Wax relic and Ironeye's Chalice. Then defeat the Darkdrift Knight, the Nightlord Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow, to get the Edge of Order relic. The finale requires beating the final Nightlord and choosing "Clench dagger" rather than offering the Nightlord's Rune, which unlocks Ironeye's Remembrance skin.

Duchess, Raider and Revenant

Duchess. Her questline is the most Hold-focused of the original eight. PCGamesN lists finding the Golden Dew in Limveld (Golden Dew relic), then talking to the Wylder and the Iron Menial for the Duchess' Chalice. After that, you get Weathervane's Words in Limveld, talk to the Raider and duel the Revenant for the Crown Medal relic. The last chapter has you bless an iron coin at the central table and see it through with the Iron Menial and the Wylder, earning the Blessed Iron Coin relic and the Duchess' Remembrance skin.

Raider. Three boss kills drive his story. Kill the Onestrike Gladiator and show the Torn Braided Cord to the Iron Menial (Torn Braided Cord relic). Then beat the Blinding Elder Lion for the Raider's Chalice. Finally, kill White Horn and talk to the Iron Menial again for the Black Claw Necklace relic and Raider's Remembrance skin. Wiki.gg's summary says his chapters end with him finishing the Tourney of the Lands Between and no longer feeling the call of the sea.

Revenant. Her first remembrance is a Nightlord kill: PCGamesN recommends Gladius, with the Darkdrift Knight as an alternative, and the reward is the Small Makeup Brush relic. Next, talk to the Duchess and the Recluse in the Hold and kill the Corrosion for the Revenant's Chalice. The final step is talking to the Recluse and killing the Contaminant, which gives the Old Portrait relic and Revenant's Remembrance skin.

The Raider and Revenant quests are the most combat-heavy, which makes them the ones where a capable team helps most. Our guide to Elden Ring co-op covers how multiplayer works in the main game if your group plays both.

Recluse and Executor

Recluse. Her story is about searching for her "beloved infant", a being of Night. PCGamesN lists killing the Night-Swallowed Golden Hippopotamus for the Recluse's Chalice, then retrieving the Vestige of Night from the Iron Menial in the Hold (Vestige of Night relic). The last chapter is the most unusual in the game: you fail to talk to the Iron Menial, kill him, talk to characters around the Hold until you receive the Bone-Like Stone relic, then beat the final Nightlord and trigger the alternative ending to unlock the Recluse's Remembrance skin.

That alternative ending is one of the few branching moments in Nightreign, and it is a nice echo of the main game's multiple endings. If you have not seen those, our breakdown of the six Elden Ring endings covers each one.

Executor. The Executor is an artist whose painting of the Erdtree is unfinished. After killing the Stray Bloodhound Knight, you find a flower in Limveld, which gives the Executor's Chalice and the Blessed Flowers relic. Later, after killing the Erdtree Avatar, you find the Golden Sprout in Limveld and return to the Hold, where you are pulled into a separate fight against Executor's Cry. That earns the Golden Sprout relic and the Executor's Remembrance skin.

Scholar and Undertaker from The Forsaken Hollows

The Forsaken Hollows DLC launched on 4 December 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Bandai Namco lists two new Nightfarers, two new bosses and one new Shifting Earth, the Great Hollow beneath Limveld. Both new characters have remembrances that intertwine.

Scholar. Wiki.gg describes a search for the Cleansing Tear and the truth about the Albinaurics. The first task sends you to an ailment-swamped camp during a Balancers or Dreglord expedition to find the Vassal's Journal, then back to the chapel to read it, earning the Scholar's Chalice. The second has you travel to the Great Hollow through the Small Jar Bazaar and defeat a "Marauder", a Godskin Apostle with two Cuckoo Knights, for the Cleansing Tear. The finale needs the Dreglord available, so the Balancers must be beaten first. You recover a monocle case from the Undertaker, defeat the Dreglord, and finish your research at the chapel desk for the Scholar's Remembrance skin.

Undertaker. Her first remembrance is a fight: the Iron Menial attacks, and you then defeat several other Nightfarers in the Hold before finding the Scholar in the northwest woods, which gives the Leather Monocle Case. Next, on a Great Hollow expedition, you find the Scholar in the attic side room of the northwest castle library and recover his Primal Core for the Undertaker's Chalice. The final unmarked step is beating the Night Aspect as the Undertaker and offering the Nightlord's Rune in the northern room, which gives her Remembrance skin and the Glass Necklace.

Chapter Counts and Playing in a Group

Wiki.gg lists the Journal length for each Nightfarer, totaling 83 chapters across all ten:

Nightreign Journal chapters per Nightfarer (wiki.gg)

Wylder9
Guardian10
Ironeye8
Duchess9
Raider8
Revenant8
Recluse8
Executor7
Scholar (DLC)9
Undertaker (DLC)7

Group play has quirks. Wiki.gg says only one teammate's personal objective appears per expedition, and the group leader's is favored. PCGamesN, writing in mid-2025, adds that only the player who started the remembrance gets the map marker and the credit, and that random matchmaking would not pair two players who both had an active remembrance, so inviting friends directly was the way around it. That guide predates later patches, so check in-game if matchmaking behaves differently now. Unlike Elden Ring's classes, which only set starting stats, each Nightfarer is a fixed character, so remembrances are tied to who you play rather than to a build. Our comparison of Elden Ring's starting classes explains how differently the main game handles that.

Want Remembrances Done for You?

Some remembrances hinge on a specific boss or Shifting Earth event showing up, which can take many expeditions. If you would rather have them handled, the store offers an Elden Ring Nightreign Remembrances service. Per its product page, the team logs into your account and completes the Nightreign Remembrances of your choice, including the class relics and the Nightfarer skins and cosmetics those chapters unlock.

Unlike the in-game rune drops offered for the main game, this service works through your account login. Platform support listed on the page is PlayStation, Xbox and Steam. You will find the full description on the Nightreign Remembrances service page, and services for the main game sit in the wider Elden Ring section of the store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Journal in Nightreign?

Inside the Roundtable Hold. Wiki.gg places it in the east wing, and PCGamesN describes it as up the short stairs on the southeastern side of the main building.

How do you unlock more Remembrance chapters?

Mostly by defeating Nightlords with that Nightfarer. Some final chapters instead ask you to beat a specific target.

What do Remembrances reward?

Character relics, a Chalice for each Nightfarer and a Remembrance skin, plus extra Relic Rite vessels and a bonus garb when you finish all of a character's quests.

Can you do Remembrances in co-op?

Yes, but only one teammate's objective shows per expedition, with the group leader favored. Inviting friends directly is the easiest way to coordinate.

Do the Scholar and Undertaker have Remembrances?

Yes. Both arrived with The Forsaken Hollows on 4 December 2025, and wiki.gg lists 9 Journal chapters for the Scholar and 7 for the Undertaker.

Can you replay a Remembrance?

No. Wiki.gg says completed remembrances cannot be revisited, so make your choice carefully in the ones that branch, like the Guardian's.
