Dragon's Dogma 2 Mods on PS5: What Actually Works

Dragon's Dogma 2 Level 999 and infinite stats modded save cover art

Short answer for PlayStation players: no, Dragon's Dogma 2 mods do not work on PS5. The thousands of mods on Nexus Mods are built for the PC version and load through PC-only tools, and Sony's console has no way to run them. That hasn't stopped interest from booming; searches for Dragon's Dogma 2 mods have climbed sharply since the Dark Arisen expansion launched on 9 October 2026.

So what can a PS5 player actually change? This guide explains why mods stay on PC, what Capcom's own updates have fixed that people used to mod, and how a modded save gets the closest to the mod experience on a console. Everything was checked in October 2026.

Why PC mods don't work on PS5

Most Dragon's Dogma 2 mods depend on REFramework, a community tool that hooks into Capcom's RE Engine on Windows, plus a mod manager that loads changed files from your game folder. Both need an open file system and the ability to run outside code alongside the game.

A PS5 allows neither. It only runs software Sony has signed, and it gives you no access to a game's install folder or memory. There is no mod menu, no Nexus integration and no official mod support in Dragon's Dogma 2 on any console, unlike a handful of other games that offer curated console mods. Videos promising a PS5 mod menu are either recorded on PC or need a jailbroken console, which most people can't run on current firmware and which puts your PlayStation Network account at risk.

Xbox Series X|S is in exactly the same position. The game is on Xbox and, since the Dark Arisen launch, on Switch 2 as well, but neither console can load PC mods either.

What PC players use mods for

It helps to look at what the popular mods do, because several of the biggest annoyances they fixed have since been addressed by Capcom for everyone:

  • Fast travel. Mods that made Ferrystones cheaper or unlimited were hugely popular. The June 2026 update added the free Eternal Ferrystone, an unlimited-use fast travel item for every platform.
  • Dragonsplague. Mods that stop pawns catching the plague were among the most downloaded at launch, because an infected pawn can wipe out a town.
  • Stats, gold and inventory. Carry-weight tweaks, item spawners and stat editors let PC players skip grinds entirely.
  • Cosmetics and camera. Armor visibility, character presets and camera distance changes.

The official route has improved a lot. Besides the Eternal Ferrystone, the summer 2026 updates added extra save slots, six assignable weapon skills and a 60fps target on PS5. None of that is a mod, but it does take care of several complaints that sent PC players to Nexus in the first place. Our Eternal Ferrystone guide covers how to get it.

How a modded save works on PS5

What you can't do on a PS5 is edit the game. What you can do is load a save that was edited somewhere else. The game reads it like any other progress file, so nothing runs in the background and there is nothing to keep updated after a patch.

The trade-off is how it gets onto your console. PS5 saves are locked to the account that made them, so the save has to be applied through that account. With our service that means we sign in to your PSN account to put the save on your profile. The account needs its own active PlayStation Plus; a membership shared from another account won't do. We'd always suggest backing up your current progress and changing your password afterwards, with two-step verification turned back on.

On PC none of that is needed, because you get the save file and simple install steps.

Which modded save fits which player

For the base game, the Level 999 modded save for PS5 and PC is the closest thing to a full PC mod setup. It puts you at level 999 with edited stats (no death, no stamina drain, one-shot damage), infinite gold and Rift Crystals, unlimited Discipline, every vocation unlocked at max rank, all weapons, armor, rings and skills, and 999+ Port Crystals. Your main pawn matches your level and stats, and the story starts from the opening, so you still play it fresh.

If you own the expansion and want to start Norgan geared instead, the Dark Arisen starter save begins at the start of the DLC with all ten vocations maxed and its new gear unlocked. That expansion is Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen from 2026, not the 2013 Dark Arisen edition of the first game.

Both are $50, both cover PC and PS5 only, and neither includes the game. Everything else we offer for the game is on our Dragon's Dogma 2 page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there mods for Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5?

No. Dragon's Dogma 2 has no official mod support on any console, and Nexus mods rely on PC tools like REFramework. The closest PS5 option is a modded save applied to your account.

Can you mod Dragon's Dogma 2 on Xbox?

No. Xbox Series X|S can't load PC mods either. Our modded saves are also PC and PS5 only, so we can't help Xbox players with this.

Will a modded save get my PSN account banned?

We can't promise anything about how Sony or Capcom treat edited saves, and nobody honestly can. Dragon's Dogma 2 is a single-player game, but your pawn does travel online through the Rift, so keep that in mind.

Do PC mods still work after the Dark Arisen update?

Many needed updates, because mods and REFramework target specific game versions. Check each mod page for a version after 9 October 2026 before loading it, and back up your save first.

Why does a PS5 modded save need PlayStation Plus?

PS5 saves are tied to the account, and the save has to be put on your profile through that account. Our listing requires active PS Plus on the same account; shared PS Plus from another account will not work.

Do I keep my own progress?

A modded save replaces the save it is loaded into, so back up anything you want to keep. The Level 999 save starts the story from the beginning, and the game now offers extra save slots for separate runs.
