Clash Royale Account Recovery: Supercell ID Steps (2026)

Clash Royale YouTube thumbnail: I 100% MAXED My Account in Clash Royale!

To recover a Clash Royale account, log in through Settings and then Supercell ID with the email the account was saved to, and enter the verification code Supercell sends you. If you no longer have that email, or the account was never connected to Supercell ID, contact Supercell Support from inside the game and prove ownership with your Player Tag, account details and purchase receipts. As of November 2026 those are the only official routes, and the steps below cover each one, including what to do if someone else is already playing your account.

We checked this against Supercell's Clash Royale help center articles on losing account access, Supercell ID, Account Protection, verification codes, changing your Supercell ID email and Player Tags, plus Supercell's Terms of Service, in November 2026.

First Question: Was the Account on Supercell ID?

Everything depends on this. Supercell ID is the free login system Supercell uses across its games. It has no password: each time you log in, a fresh verification code is emailed to you. If you ever saw your email address in the Supercell ID menu of Clash Royale, your progress is tied to that email, and you can usually get it back yourself in a couple of minutes.

If you never set one up, your account may have been tied only to the device, to your Google Play Games profile on Android, or to Game Center on iPhone. Those accounts can still be recovered, but you will almost certainly need Support, and the process ends with Supercell creating a Supercell ID for you. Have an email address ready that has never been used for Supercell ID, because Supercell cannot connect a recovered account to an email that is already attached to another one.

Not sure which case you are in? Search your inbox for "Supercell ID". Any past verification code or new-device login email means the account was connected, and it tells you which address to use.

Logging Back In With Your Supercell ID Email

On a new phone or after reinstalling, open Clash Royale, go to Settings, tap the Supercell ID option and choose to log in. Enter the email address, then the code from Supercell's email. Your full progress loads as soon as the code is accepted. A few details trip people up:

  • Only the newest code works. Each login attempt sends a new code and cancels the old one. If your inbox has several, delete them all and request a fresh one.
  • Three wrong entries lock you out for a day. After three incorrect codes in a row, Supercell will not send another one for 24 hours.
  • Check spam and filters. Search for "Supercell ID" if the email does not show up, and make sure no inbox rule is moving it to another folder.
  • Tick "Remember me on this device". It skips the code on future logins and lets you switch between saved accounts without codes.
  • Uninstalling on Android forgets saved logins. On iOS only a full device reset clears them. Either way, logging in again with your email restores everything.

If you have the email but it is an old address you want to replace, do it now while you have access: Settings, Supercell ID, the cogwheel, then Change Email. Supercell puts no limit on how many times you can change it, but the new address must not already be attached to another Supercell ID.

Contacting Support When You Cannot Log In Yourself

When the email is gone or the account was never connected, Support is the route. Supercell's recovery articles send you through the game, so use any account (even a brand-new one) to reach them: open Settings, choose Help and Support, then tap the message icon in the top right corner and start a conversation. Supercell's articles describe that button as a blue message bubble or a menu icon depending on the version. The help center also links a web contact form, but the in-game chat is the route its recovery steps describe.

Without Account Protection, Support has to rely on details only the owner would know. Supercell asks for:

  1. The Player Tag of the lost account (it starts with a # and looks like #ABC123).
  2. The account name.
  3. The account level. For Clash Royale today that means your King Tower Level, explained in our guide to what replaced King Level.
  4. The name of the Clan the account is in, if any.
  5. Transaction IDs for purchases made on the account, from your Google Play or App Store receipts.

If you do not remember the Player Tag, Supercell suggests asking an in-game friend to look at your old profile, or checking the Friends list or Clan member list from another account you own. Supercell also notes that a Player Tag alone is not enough to prove ownership, so send as much of the list as you can. Purchase receipts are the strongest evidence most players have, but blur or black out personal details such as your full name, address and card information before you share screenshots, as Supercell's own privacy guide recommends.

Once Support is satisfied, it changes the email connected to the account to a new address you provide. Keep in mind that this help is for the original owner. Supercell's help center states it cannot provide support for accounts that were sold or bought, and it treats trying to recover someone else's account, even a friend's, as phishing. Your friend has to contact Support personally.

Account Protection: The Backup You Set Up Before You Need It

Account Protection is an optional layer on top of Supercell ID, and it makes recovery much faster. Turn it on in Settings, Supercell ID, the cogwheel, then Activate under Account Protection. It gives you two ways to prove ownership if you lose your email:

  • Recovery Codes, generated when you activate the feature. Store them somewhere you can reach without your phone. Generating new codes makes the old ones invalid, and you can only regenerate a limited number of times.
  • SMS verification, sent by Support to the phone number you registered. One number can cover several Supercell IDs.

With Account Protection active, you can even change your Supercell ID email yourself after a security scare, without waiting for Support. Once enabled it cannot be disabled, by you or by Support, which is deliberate: a thief cannot switch it off. It is not offered to Young Player accounts or accounts with unusual activity, and it is unavailable in Belarus, Russia, China, Iran, Vietnam, Cuba and North Korea. Supercell also recommends turning on two-factor authentication for the email account itself, since your Supercell ID is only as secure as that inbox.

Old Google Play and Game Center Logins

Many older Android accounts were loaded through a Google button that is no longer in the game. The account is not deleted. Switching Google accounts now happens in the Google Play Games app: open it, tap the three dots in the upper right, go to Settings, find "Your data", choose "Change account for games", pick Clash Royale and select the account you want. You can also do it from your device's Settings by searching for Play Games. Once the right account loads, connect it to Supercell ID straight away so you never depend on the Google link again.

If you play several accounts, Supercell's advice is the same: attach every one to Supercell ID. It is the only supported way to switch between multiple accounts on one device. To start a fresh account without losing your main one, first connect the main account, then log out of Supercell ID and choose "Play without Supercell ID" on the title screen.

When Someone Else Is Using Your Account

Supercell emails you whenever your Supercell ID logs in on a new device, naming the device and location. If you do not recognize it, tap "This is not my device" in that email. It takes you to a page that logs your Supercell ID out of every device, which should cut off the other person. Then log back in and change the email connected to your Supercell ID, and change the password of the email account itself.

Most takeovers start with a code being handed over. Supercell is clear that it never contacts players unexpectedly or asks for login codes, and that you should only share Recovery Codes or SMS codes with Support inside a ticket you opened through Help and Support. Websites offering free Gems in exchange for your login are a common trap, which our guide to real free Gem sources covers in detail. Shared accounts are also against the Terms of Service, and Supercell says detected shared accounts can be suspended or permanently banned.

Once you are back in, take a minute to compare your collection with what you remember, and mention anything missing when you write to Support. Our page on level caps and upgrade costs is a handy reference for what each card level should look like.

Thinking About a Second Account?

Some players who lose an account for good decide not to restart from Arena 1. The store's Clash Royale page shows account listings from marketplace sellers, each describing details like King Tower level, trophies and Evolutions. Supercell's Terms of Service say a player shall not purchase, sell, rent or give away their account, so take that into account before going that way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I recover my Clash Royale account without Supercell ID?

Contact Support from inside the game through Settings and Help and Support. Provide your Player Tag, account name, level, Clan name and purchase transaction IDs. If Support verifies you, it sets up a Supercell ID for the account with a new email.

Why am I not getting the Supercell ID verification code?

Check spam, search your inbox for "Supercell ID", and use only the newest code. After three wrong entries in a row you must wait 24 hours. Some email domains are also not supported by Supercell ID.

Can I recover my Clash Royale account with just the Player Tag?

Not on its own. Supercell says the Player Tag helps locate the account, but you also need details like the account name, Clan and purchase receipts to prove it is yours.

How do I change the email on my Supercell ID?

Go to Settings, Supercell ID, the cogwheel, then Change Email, and confirm with a code sent to your current address. If you no longer have that address, contact Support in game.

Can I turn off Account Protection or Supercell ID?

No. Account Protection cannot be disabled once active, and since September 2023 you cannot opt out of Supercell ID after joining. You can reset Account Protection to change the phone number and get new Recovery Codes.

Will Supercell ever message me asking for my code?

No. Supercell says it never contacts players unexpectedly for login codes. Only share codes with Support inside a ticket you opened yourself through the in-game Help and Support menu.
