Apex Legends Map Rotation: Season 31 Schedule Explained

Apex Legends YouTube thumbnail: The problem with Apex Legends Map rotations!

The current map rotation in Apex Legends, as of November 2026, cycles three Battle Royale maps in both public matches and Ranked: Storm Point, E-District Night and Broken Moon. Public matches switch map every 90 minutes and Ranked every four and a half hours, while Mixtape and Wildcard run their own separate lists for Season 31 (Cipher). Below you will find the full schedule for every playlist, what changed on each map this season, the Godzilla event that takes over Storm Point from November 10, and how to use the rotation instead of fighting it.

We confirmed the lists with the official Cipher and Marked patch notes and EA's Godzilla event announcement, and we checked the live order against a public rotation tracker on November 6, 2026.

The Battle Royale Rotation in Season 31

The Cipher patch notes list the same three maps for both Pubs and Ranked: Storm Point, E-District Night and Broken Moon. That is a full swap from the second half of last season, when the Marked midseason update put World's Edge, Olympus and Broken Moon into both playlists. Broken Moon is the only map that carries over, while World's Edge and Olympus step out of Battle Royale for now.

E-District Night deserves a word of explanation. Respawn's Cipher designer's notes say the team brought back the nighttime version of E-District after the community asked for it following a rework that had moved the map to daytime. Because night maps have historically been criticized for poor visibility, the patch notes pair the return with a detailed lighting pass: deep shadows were lifted, many more practical light sources were added, the shadow budget was increased, the color correction was reworked to sharpen contrast, and busy building and advertising panels were toned down so player silhouettes stand out.

Respawn also said it plans to keep experimenting with day and night versions of maps across patches, so the lighting of a map in the rotation may change during the season even when the map list does not.

How Long Each Map Stays Up

The timing is different for the two Battle Royale playlists. The Marked launch notes describe the "normal" cadence as a 90 minute rotation for public matches and a 4.5 hour rotation for Ranked, and the Cipher notes did not announce a change. A public rotation tracker showed exactly that pattern on November 6, 2026, with pubs moving Broken Moon, then Storm Point, then E-District every 90 minutes, and Ranked moving Storm Point, then E-District, then Broken Moon in four and a half hour blocks.

In practical terms, that means:

  • Public matches: each of the three maps comes around once every four and a half hours, so you never wait more than three hours for a specific map.
  • Ranked: each map holds for a long session. If your favorite Ranked map has just rotated out, it will not come back for nine hours, so plan your sessions around the block you play best.
  • Event weeks: Respawn sometimes overrides the normal order. At the start of Season 30, for example, World's Edge was featured for 24 hours in both playlists and then for another 48 hours in Ranked before the regular cadence resumed.

Community rotation trackers publish the next several slots for every playlist, which is the easiest way to plan a session a day ahead rather than hoping the right map is up when you log in.

Mixtape and Wildcard Schedules

Mixtape, the rotating playlist of smaller modes, has its own list that runs from November 3, 2026 to January 5, 2027. Team Deathmatch uses Thunderdome, Fragment and Skull Town. Control uses Production Yard, Barometer and Thunderdome. Gun Run uses Skull Town, Wattson's Pylon and Monument.

Wildcard, the faster 30 player Freestyle mode, is split into two published windows. From November 3 to November 9, 2026 it runs District Wildcard and Broken Moon Wildcard. From December 1, 2026 to January 5, 2027 it adds Olympus Wildcard to District and Broken Moon. The patch notes do not list a Wildcard map set for November 10 to November 30, which is the same window as the Godzilla event, so check the in-game selector during those weeks rather than assuming the early November maps carry on.

Cipher also changed how Wildcard plays. Wild Cards are now handed out at the start of Rounds 1, 2 and 3 through a selection panel at the top of the HUD, and Replicators were removed from the mode. Respawn said it tested this during the Ascended Hunt event and saw a large increase in engagement, so the change is now permanent.

What Changed on Each Map This Season

Storm Point. The biggest news for Storm Point is the Godzilla event, which runs from November 10 to December 1, 2026. During the event the map is shown in the middle of a Godzilla attack, with damaged buildings, burnt trees and fallen signs, and blast zones where a special Care Package can hold a custom Devotion with a heat ray. Outside the event, Cipher's 99 targeted map fixes put particular focus on Storm Point, Olympus and World's Edge, smoothing collisions, closing geometry holes and sealing rat spots.

E-District Night. Covered above: the night version returns with a full readability pass. Expect better visibility than older night maps, but long open streets still punish squads that rotate without cover.

Broken Moon. The one map that stays in the rotation from last split. It did not get a dedicated section in the Cipher notes, but it does share the engine wide readability updates that now apply to every map: a lighting and material pass on world geometry and signage, standardized lighting values for more predictable character contrast, reworked fog that preserves sightlines, and slower auto-exposure so brightness shifts less sharply during fights.

Two smaller additions apply everywhere. Strongholds, the new mid game airdrop, land during the Round 2 ring closing alongside one Care Package, while two Care Packages fall during the Round 1 closing. And the patch notes report that over 35 rat or hiding spots and more than 15 ways of clipping out of bounds with Alter's abilities were fixed across all maps.

What Left the Rotation and What Comes Next

World's Edge was the star of Season 30. The Marked launch rebuilt parts of it, bringing back Sorting Factory and Construction Stacks and replacing The Tree with Tree Settlement and Survey Camp with War Camp, and gave it 24 to 48 hour featured windows in the first week. Cipher still added cover outside the walls at War Camp and a gap in the railings at Construction Stacks, even though the map is out of Battle Royale rotation for now.

Olympus is not gone entirely either. It drops out of Battle Royale for Cipher, yet it comes back as Olympus Wildcard from December 1, and it was one of the three maps that Cipher's 99 targeted map fixes concentrated on. The patch also fixed a spot at the center of Estates where players could not climb the edges of the second floor building to reach the top level, and stopped Crypto from using weapons inside the Olympus boxing ring. If you enjoy Olympus, Wildcard in December is where to find it until the next rotation change.

Kings Canyon is the map to watch. Respawn announced in its Cipher roadmap check-in that the Major Map Update scheduled for Season 32 is Kings Canyon Evolved, described as a completely reworked map with new, remixed and touched up points of interest, arriving in early 2027. Season 32 is also when the Ranked overhaul lands, so expect both the map list and the competitive rules to change together.

Making the Rotation Work for You

A rotation is only frustrating if you treat every map the same. Three maps is a small pool, which is good news: you can learn each one properly in a few sessions instead of spreading your attention across five. A few habits help:

  1. Match your Legend to the map. Mobility Legends shine on Storm Point's wide spaces, while E-District's streets and rooftops reward strong close quarters kits. Our Season 31 tier list notes which Legends gained the most this patch.
  2. Adjust your loadout to the sightlines. Storm Point and Broken Moon reward a marksman or long range rifle; E-District leans toward SMGs and shotguns. We compare the options in our best guns guide.
  3. Schedule Ranked around your best map. With four and a half hour blocks, starting a session on the right map can be the difference between gaining and losing RP for the night. Our Ranked guide explains why placement matters so much under the current entry costs.
  4. Hunt badges where the fights are. Smaller, denser maps produce more early fights, which is what a 20 kill attempt needs. See our badge guide for the full approach.

Skip the Map You Hate

If the current rotation is the thing standing between you and a goal, whether that is a rank, a stack of wins or a badge on a Legend you never enjoy on Storm Point, the store has services for each. The Apex Legends boosting hub lists rank and RP boosts, 4K damage and 20 bomb badges, wins, kills farming, challenges, and account and battle pass leveling across PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Steam and the EA app).

The hub also links to account listings for players who would rather start fresh on another profile. Whatever you choose, the rotation keeps moving: the next big shake-up is Kings Canyon Evolved in early 2027.
