Apex Legends 20 Bomb Badge and 4K Badge: How to Get Them

Apex Legends YouTube thumbnail: How To Unlock 20 Bomb & 4K Badges! (Apex Legends)

The 20 Bomb badge in Apex Legends is a Legend specific badge you earn by getting at least 20 kills in a single Battle Royale match while playing that Legend; on Wraith, for example, it is called Wraith's Wake. Its companion, the 4K badge, is the fourth tier of each Legend's damage badge and needs 4,000 damage in one match. Both only count in Battle Royale, and as of November 2026 they remain the hardest Legend badges to show off on a banner. This guide explains exactly what each badge requires, which modes count, how to equip them, and a realistic plan for chasing them in Season 31.

We cross-checked this with the Apex Legends Fandom wiki's Legend badge pages, EA Help's customization and game mode articles, a Charlie Intel 20 kill badge guide and the Season 31 Cipher patch notes in November 2026.

What the 20 Bomb and 4K Badges Actually Are

Legend badges belong to one Legend each, and the wiki keeps a separate badge page for every Legend. Using Wraith as the example, her wiki page lists Apex Wraith for wins (tiers at 1, 5, 15, 50 and 100 wins), Wraith's Wrath for damage in a single game, and Wraith's Wake for killing at least 20 enemies in one game. Players call the kill badge the 20 bomb and the top damage tier the 4K, whichever Legend's name is printed on it.

Wraith's damage and kill badges (Apex Legends Fandom wiki)
BadgeRequirement in a single game
Wraith's Wrath I2,000 damage
Wraith's Wrath II2,500 damage
Wraith's Wrath III3,000 damage
Wraith's Wrath IV (the "4K")4,000 damage
Wraith's Wake (the "20 Bomb")20 kills

Two details catch people out. First, these are tied to the Legend you were playing, so a 20 bomb on Bloodhound does nothing for your Octane banner. Second, they are per match achievements, not cumulative totals: 3,900 damage in one game and 3,900 in the next is two near misses, not progress toward a 4K.

That per Legend structure is why many players pick one main for badge hunting and stick with it. Our Season 31 tier list is a good starting point if you have not settled on one, because a Legend that wins fights on its own makes 20 kills far more realistic.

Which Modes Count Toward Badges

Only Battle Royale counts. The Charlie Intel guide states that the 20 kill badge requires 20 kills in a single Battle Royale match and cannot be earned in the Mixtape playlist or in limited time modes. EA Help adds a second exclusion for the modern game: Bot Royale Evolved, the relaxed mode that mixes human and bot squads, still gives XP and Battle Pass progress but cannot progress badges or stats.

That leaves standard Trios and Ranked as the modes guides agree on. Ranked lobbies are matched on RP and usually tighter in skill, while unranked Trios can be looser, so most badge hunters work in Trios where losing a hot drop does not cost RP. We could not find an official EA statement listing whether the faster Wildcard mode counts for these damage and kill badges, so if a badge is your goal, play the modes where it clearly does.

Keep in mind that the requirement counts your own numbers. Your squad's kills do not add to your total, which is why the common advice is for teammates to soften enemies while you take the final shots.

Planning a Realistic 20 Bomb Attempt

A standard match starts with 20 squads, so twenty kills means personally eliminating about a third of the lobby, and the attempt has to be designed, not hoped for. These are the levers that matter most in Season 31.

  1. Land where the fights are. Hot drops are the fastest way to start a kill count, but they are also where attempts die. Drop with enough height to land first, and pick a spot with weapons close to the ground. Arsenals stay locked at match start since Season 30, so your first guns come from floor loot.
  2. Bring weapons that finish knocks fast. Close range picks matter most early. The Prowler is still Respawn's own example of a gun that stays deadly up close after its Season 31 recoil nerf, and the Peacekeeper's rate of fire went up. Our guide to the best guns this season goes through the options.
  3. Play with friends who will feed you finishes. The Charlie Intel guide recommends a squad that does damage so that you can take the kills. Knocks you never confirm do not count.
  4. Follow the fights, not the ring. Third partying squads that are already fighting is where most mid game kills come from. Strongholds, which drop during the second ring closing and lock until one team controls the area around them, reliably pull squads together.
  5. Take the Stronghold if you win the fight. Capturing one gives every living teammate a level up and unlocks a Care Package weapon, three gold guns, three Amps and two Corrupted Attachments, exactly the kit you need for the late game push.

Expect most attempts to fail early. A useful mental rule: if you are not on six or seven kills by the end of the first ring, play the rest of the match normally and requeue.

Getting a 4K Damage Game

The 4K badge is more achievable than the 20 bomb because damage accumulates even in fights you lose. A few habits raise your ceiling:

  • Stay in fights longer. Damage only counts while you are alive to deal it, so a squad that heals and re-engages beats one that peeks once and runs.
  • Use energy weapons in short bursts. Since Season 30, energy guns carry a regenerating stockpile that refills one magazine over 18 seconds and pauses while you shoot or reload. They are excellent for repeated short trades, which suits damage farming.
  • Grab the Care Package Akimbo Mozambique when you can. In Cipher it deals 18 damage per pellet and its Executioner Hop-Up heals 15 shields per second, which lets you stay in close fights longer.
  • Do not neglect the late game. Final rings pack squads together, and a lot of 4K games come from a mediocre first half followed by a chaotic final three circles.

Lower tier damage badges are useful checkpoints. Wraith's tiers sit at 2,000, 2,500, 3,000 and 4,000 damage, and hitting the 3,000 tier tells you the 4K is within reach on that Legend.

Mistakes That Quietly End Badge Attempts

Most failed attempts are not about aim. They come from setting up the session wrong, and these are the patterns we see most often.

  • Hunting in Ranked. Every Ranked match costs RP to enter, from 10 RP in Bronze up to 90 RP in Master, and an aggressive badge attempt that ends early rarely earns it back. In Diamond and higher lobbies there is a second problem: two Legends are banned each match, and your badge Legend may be one of them.
  • Switching Legends between games. Because each badge belongs to one Legend, spreading attempts across three mains triples the work. Commit to one until the badge pops.
  • Ignoring squad composition. A squad of three fraggers often splits the kills three ways. One player going for the badge and two playing support usually produces a higher individual count than three people chasing the same knocks.
  • Playing exhausted. A 20 bomb attempt is a sprint of decisions. Short, focused sessions with breaks between them usually beat a long marathon where the quality of each drop slowly falls.
  • Forgetting the XP side. Even failed attempts are not wasted. EA Help lists kills, killing members of the champion squad and becoming the match kill leader among the ways to earn XP, so an aggressive badge session still moves your account level and Battle Pass forward.

How to Equip Badges on Your Banner

EA Help lays out the path. Select the Legends tab, choose the Legend you want to customize, and open Banners. Badges sit alongside Frames, Poses, Trackers and Quips there, and you can equip up to three badges and up to three trackers at a time. Legend badges like the 20 bomb and 4K can only be shown on the banner of the Legend that earned them.

Your account level badge also lives here. EA Help says you earn a new level badge design every 20 levels on the way to the level 2,000 cap, and our account level guide explains how prestige tiers affect it. If you are badge hunting in Ranked as well, note that the Season 31 kill feed now shows how much RP each kill was worth, covered in our Ranked guide.

One historical caveat: when cross progression merged accounts in 2023, EA warned that some stat tied badges from non primary profiles, including achievement badges, could be lost because stats from those profiles were not merged. If an old 20 bomb seems to be missing, that merge is the likely reason, and EA says such badges have to be earned again.

Want the Badge Without the Attempts?

Some badges take hundreds of matches, and a 20 bomb in particular depends on lobbies you cannot control. The store's Legend's Badges service covers tiered and single badges on any Legend; its product page also lists account levels, several Apex Packs and Battle Pass experience earned along the way, and you receive an email after purchase asking for your account details and platform.

Open the badges boost page to pick the Legend and badge, or see every Apex service on the main boosting hub, which lists PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many kills do you need for a 20 bomb in Apex?

At least 20 of your own kills in a single Battle Royale match, playing the Legend whose badge you want.

Can you get the 20 bomb badge in Mixtape or Team Deathmatch?

No. Guides agree it only counts in Battle Royale, not in the Mixtape playlist or limited time modes. EA Help also says Bot Royale Evolved cannot progress badges.

Does the 4K badge count assists or team damage?

No. The damage badge counts the damage you personally deal in one match. Teammates' damage does not add to your total.

Do 20 bomb badges carry over between platforms?

Badges you earn on your current EA Account follow you through cross progression. Some stat tied badges from secondary profiles were lost in the 2023 merge, according to EA.

How many badges can you equip in Apex Legends?

Up to three badges per Legend banner, plus up to three trackers.

What is the rarest badge in Apex Legends?

Rarity varies by Legend, but among Legend badges anyone can still earn, players generally treat the 20 kill badge as the hardest, followed by the 4,000 damage tier.
