Where Winds Meet Level Cap: Max Level in November 2026

Where Winds Meet YouTube thumbnail: Where Winds Meet How to Breakthrough Guide (How to Increase Level Cap in Where Winds Meet)

The character level cap in Where Winds Meet is Lv. 100 as of November 2026. It was raised from 95 to 100 with Version 2.0 on July 23, 2026, alongside Tier 96 gear, and the October 15 Version 2.3 update moved the Solo Mode level from 17 to 18 without any report of a higher character cap. Below is how character level and Solo Mode level work together, the full history of cap raises, and what to do once you reach the top.

We checked this against the official April 30 gear and level overview and the October 2026 patch notes on the Where Winds Meet site, Game8's breakthrough and update guides, and AllThings. How's Version 2.0 coverage in November 2026.

The Level Cap in November 2026

AllThings. How's Version 2.0 guide states that the level ceiling was raised to Lv. 100 when the Hidden Mountain update launched on July 23, 2026, and that Tier 96 gear became obtainable at the same time. Game8's breakthrough page, updated in September 2026, also lists Lv. 100 as the current maximum, reached through Breakthrough 17, which it calls Ascendancy.

Version 2.3, "Friends From Afar," arrived on October 15, 2026, and started the Ever Aflame season. Game8's patch summary says the Solo Mode level cap rose from 17 to 18 with that season and that Taiping Mausoleum reset. We found no source reporting a character level above 100, and the official October 16 patch notes still refer to a Tier 96 Relaying Stone, which suggests Tier 96 remains the top gear tier. If you are at 100 with full Tier 96 gear, you are at the current ceiling.

Keep in mind that Game8's own page is not fully consistent: its introduction still mentions an older breakthrough as the season's peak, while its table and summary list the Lv. 100 figure. The Version 2.0 coverage supports the Lv. 100 figure.

How Character Level and Solo Mode Level Fit Together

Where Winds Meet uses two linked levels. Your character level is the familiar number that rises with experience. Your Solo Mode level is a progression tier that sets the maximum character level you can reach. When you hit that maximum, you need to complete a Breakthrough to raise the Solo Mode level and lift the cap again.

Several gates control when a Breakthrough becomes available:

  • Character level: you must reach the current cap first.
  • Exploration Days: Game8 explains these count from the day your account was created and gate access to Breakthrough quests. Early tiers need between 1 and 9 days.
  • Trials: at the cap, Game8 says players complete Solo Mode Breakthrough challenges in Taiping Mausoleum.

Experience is not lost while you wait. Game8 reports that once you reach the daily level cap, extra EXP is stored and later provides a 50% bonus, and AllThings. How notes that banked EXP pays out as levels after you clear the Breakthrough, sometimes several at once. A long session at the cap is still progress.

In practice, this means a new player and a veteran see very different ceilings. A week-old account sits behind early Solo Mode tiers and their Exploration Day timers, so its real cap might be 50 or 55 regardless of how much it plays. A year-old account has long since passed every timer and only needs to clear the latest Breakthrough trial. When friends compare levels, the gap is usually about account age and cleared Breakthroughs, not hours played.

Solo Mode Levels and Their Caps

Game8 publishes the table below for the tiers up to Lv. 14. The official April 30 overview confirms the Lv. 14 step and its cap of 95, and Version 2.0 later lifted the character cap to 100.

Not every Solo Mode step raises the character cap. The official overview says Lv. 15 was added in the second half of Season 3 to give slight attribute increases while the cap stayed at 95. Steps beyond that came with the Version 2.x seasons, ending at Lv. 100 for character level.

How the Cap Has Risen Since Launch

The cap has climbed in steps throughout 2026. These are the dated changes we could confirm:

  • March 20, 2026: Breakthrough Lv. 13, Universal View, raised the cap to 90, and gear plus Gear Tuning and Attuning rose to Tier 86, according to Game8's Version 1.4 summary.
  • April 30, 2026: the start of Season 3 unlocked Solo Mode Lv. 14 and raised the cap to 95 with Tier 91 gear, per the official overview.
  • Second half of Season 3: no new cap or gear tier. Lv. 15 added small attribute gains, new Gear Enhancement levels opened, and Seasonal Talents were updated.
  • July 23, 2026: Version 2.0 and Hidden Mountain raised the ceiling to Lv. 100 and added Tier 96 gear.
  • October 15, 2026: Version 2.3 and the Ever Aflame season moved the Solo Mode level from 17 to 18.

The April 30 overview explains the thinking. The developers said future level cap and gear tier updates would be synchronized with full-season cycles, to stop gear from going out of date too quickly. That is why raises now arrive at the start of a season rather than in the middle.

What to Do Once You Reach the Cap

Hitting 100 is where the gear game starts in earnest. The official overview introduced Relaying, which lets you carry attributes from older gear into a higher tier instead of starting from scratch: a Relaying Stone converts eligible gear into Relaid Gear of the current tier, which you then improve through Modulating. The October 16 notes mention a Tier 96 version of the stone, Relaying Stone: Mirage.

Modulating works differently from normal tuning. In the version described in the April overview, you pick one attribute on a Relaid piece and feed it a fully tuned Legendary piece of the same tier, and the gain depends on how well the attributes match rather than on quality. Every Relaid Gear attribute can be raised to a fixed cap this way, set slightly below the best standard gear of that tier. The upshot is that a well-rolled older piece no longer has to be thrown away when the tier rises, which takes much of the sting out of each new season.

Beyond gear, the cap is where these systems matter most:

  • Inner Ways. Upgrading your four equipped passives to higher tiers is one of the biggest power gains left. Our Inner Ways guide explains the Tips and Breakthrough system.
  • Seasonal challenges. Version 2.3 added new Sword Trial bosses, Lodestar and Bell Toller, and new Hero's Realm bosses, Halcyon and Veiled Woman, while Taiping Mausoleum reset for the season.
  • Arena. Arena Season 5: Ever Aflame began with Version 2.3.
  • Build refinement. With levels settled, it is the right time to commit to a build. Our build rankings show which pairs lead this season.

Many of those activities are group content. Our co-op guide covers how parties form and how many players each activity allows.

Leveling Toward the Cap Faster

Because Exploration Days and daily caps pace the early game, there is a limit to how fast any account can climb. You can still avoid wasted time:

  • Clear Breakthroughs the day they unlock. Stored EXP converts into levels as soon as the cap lifts, so a delayed Breakthrough is the main thing that holds a player back.
  • Bank EXP on capped days. Because stored EXP returns with a bonus, playing on days you are capped is not wasted.
  • Prepare for the trial. Breakthrough challenges are combat tests, so gear up and upgrade your Martial Arts before attempting a new tier.
  • Do not ignore exploration. Boundary Stones give Exploration Points and refill your potions, which makes the story and trials smoother.

Returning players get help too. The April 30 update added a system called Easy Catch-up, according to MP1st's patch coverage. If you are starting fresh, our beginner guide covers the first hours and the early Breakthrough rhythm.

Will the Level Cap Rise Again?

Based on the official policy, any further raise should come with the start of a new season rather than a mid-season patch. The Ever Aflame season only began on October 15, 2026, and we found no announcement of a level above 100 when we checked in early November. The October 28 dev letter for the rest of Version 2.3 focuses on the Mount Tai Blizzard campaign, the Cast in Currents quest and the Spirit of the Grove exploration area, with no mention of a new cap.

That makes now a good window to finish Tier 96 gear and Inner Way upgrades without worrying that they will be replaced in a few weeks.

If You Would Rather Not Climb From Level 1

Exploration Days, daily caps and seasonal breakthroughs mean even a dedicated new player needs weeks to reach 100. The store's Where Winds Meet page shows account listings from independent sellers, and many state the character level, often 100, along with gear score and the weapons leveled. The listings update daily.

Weigh that against the publisher's Terms of Use, which say you may not share, sell or transfer an account to anyone else without its prior consent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the max level in Where Winds Meet?

It is 100. Version 2.0 lifted it from 95 when Hidden Mountain launched in July.

Why can't I level up past my current cap?

Your Solo Mode level sets the limit. Complete the next Breakthrough once your Exploration Days and character level allow it, and your stored EXP will apply.

What is the current Solo Mode level?

Game8 reports the Solo Mode cap moved from 17 to 18 with Version 2.3 on October 15, 2026.

Does EXP carry over when I am capped?

Yes. Extra EXP is stored and later grants a 50% bonus, and it converts into levels when the cap lifts.

What gear tier goes with level 100?

Tier 96, added with Version 2.0. Relaying Stones can carry attributes from older gear into the current tier.

When will the level cap increase again?

The developers tie cap raises to full seasons. The current season began on October 15, 2026, and no higher cap had been announced in early November.
