OSRS Combat Achievements: Tiers, Points and Rewards

Old School RuneScape YouTube thumbnail: THIS Guide GUARANTEES Medium Tier Combat Achievements (OSRS)

As of November 2026, OSRS Combat Achievements are a set of 655 combat tasks split into six tiers from Easy to Grandmaster, and every task you finish earns points toward permanent rewards. Since the 2023 switch to a points system, you do not need to clear a whole tier to claim its rewards: any mix of tasks that reaches the threshold works, except for Grandmaster, which still needs everything. Below are the current tier thresholds, the task types, the rewards that matter most and a practical order for chasing them.

We checked this against the OSRS Wiki's Combat Achievements pages, including the Easy task list, and Jagex's update history recorded on the wiki in November 2026.

What Combat Achievements Are

Jagex released Combat Achievements on 21 July 2021 as a way to test skill in combat content, from simple kill counts to restrictions that force you to fight a boss a specific way. You open the overview from the Character Summary tab, and from there you can browse tasks by tier, filter them, and view a boss overview that tracks your kill counts.

Most tasks are members only, but every tier includes a handful that free-to-play players can complete. Kill count tasks and some time-based Gauntlet tasks were completed automatically for players who already had those achievements when the system launched, and later boss releases have sometimes worked the same way when Jagex had already tracked the relevant data.

The list keeps growing. In 2026 alone the wiki records seven tasks added for the Shellbane Gryphon in February, five for Brutus later that month, nine for the Maggot King in July and nine for the Mad Angel in August. Each addition raises the total points available, which affects the thresholds described next.

Tiers, Points and Thresholds

Tasks are grouped into Easy, Medium, Hard, Elite, Master and Grandmaster tiers. Each task is worth more points the higher its tier, from 1 point for an Easy task to 6 for a Grandmaster task. Rewards unlock when your total points reach each tier's requirement, regardless of which tiers the points came from.

Elite16641,100

The points system arrived on 3 May 2023. Jagex's stated goal was to encourage players to try harder tasks earlier rather than waiting until they could finish a whole tier. In practice, this means a strong player can skip awkward Easy or Medium tasks and still reach Hard rewards by picking up a few Elite tasks instead.

One catch is worth knowing. When new tasks raise a tier's requirement above your current total, rewards for that tier are disabled and become unequippable until you meet the new number. Higher versions of Ghommal's hilt still teleport, but only with the limits of whichever tier you currently qualify for.

Task Types and Easy Examples

Every task falls into one of six types. Kill count tasks ask for a set number of kills. Mechanical tasks hint at how a boss is meant to be fought or demand a specific difficult approach. Perfection tasks require finishing without taking damage or dying. Restriction tasks limit your gear or methods, Speed tasks set a time limit, and Stamina tasks ask for multiple kills without leaving the area.

The Easy tier shows how approachable the early tasks are. Fighting as Intended asks you to kill Obor on a free-to-play world, and Protection from Moss asks you to kill Bryophyta with Protect from Magic active. Barrows Novice needs ten Barrows chests, while Defence? What Defence? asks you to kill any Barrows brother using only magical damage. Skilling bosses count too: Wintertodt Novice wants five Wintertodt subdues, and Cosy asks you to subdue it wearing four pieces of warm equipment.

Most solo tasks only need you, but some require a team, including tasks in the Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood and The Nightmare. Group Ironmen get a break here: they do not need tasks that require a larger team than their group, so their point requirement for the top tiers is lower.

Rewards Worth Chasing

Every tier gives an antique lamp, from 5,000 experience at Easy to 50,000 at Grandmaster, and the first four tiers each add a 5 percent higher chance of receiving that tier's clue scroll from all sources except implings. The headline item is Ghommal's hilt. The Easy hilt gives three daily teleports to the God Wars Dungeon entrance, the Medium hilt gives five and also stops the Barrows prayer drain while equipped, and the Hard hilt makes those teleports unlimited.

Hard is a turning point for bossing. It lowers the God Wars Dungeon kill count requirement from 40 to 35, raises the ecumenical key chance from 1 in 60 to 1 in 55, and unlocks private God Wars instances for 150,000 coins. Elite lowers the kill count to 30, cuts the instance fee to 125,000, adds three daily hilt teleports to Mor Ul Rek and lets Ghommal or Laidee Gnonock make a Tztok slayer helmet. Elite also gives bracelets of slaughter and expeditious bracelets a 10 percent chance to fully recharge and makes superior Slayer monsters more common.

The smaller perks add up as well. Each tier raises the cap on the Like a boss Slayer reward, from 40 kills at Easy up to 65 at Grandmaster. The dwarf multicannon holds 35 steel cannonballs at Medium, 45 at Hard and 60 at Elite, up from the usual 30, which means fewer reloads on long cannon tasks. Hard also cuts the private instance fee for The Hueycoatl to 25,000 coins and for Sarachnis and the Giant Mole to 12,500, halves the cost of imbuing items at Nightmare Zone and Soul Wars, and lets you combine a dragon hunter crossbow with King Black Dragon heads to make the (b) variant. Elite adds the option to use Vorkath's head the same way for the (t) variant. Pest Control players get one to three extra Void Knight commendation points per game from the first three tiers.

Master and Grandmaster rewards target the very top end. Master doubles thrall duration, adds the vampyric slayer helmet and Ghommal's lucky penny, and increases TzTok-Jad and TzKal-Zuk Slayer tasks to two kills. Grandmaster brings unlimited Mor Ul Rek teleports, a God Wars kill count of 15 and the Tzkal slayer helmet, which, once imbued, gives on-task damage bonuses in the Fight Cave and Inferno. If the Inferno is on your list, our Infernal cape guide covers the fight those rewards relate to.

Planning Your Route Through the Tiers

Start with the Easy kill count tasks you can knock out on early bosses such as Obor, Bryophyta, Barrows and the Giant Mole, plus Wintertodt and Tempoross if you are already training there. Claim each reward set from Ghommal or Laidee Gnonock by the entrance to the Warriors' Guild; during Leagues, rewards are claimed from the Leagues Tutor instead, which our Leagues guide explains.

Many players set Hard as their first serious target because 436 points unlocks unlimited God Wars teleports and cheaper instances, which pay off quickly for anyone bossing there. From that point, pick tasks by the bosses you already farm. A kill count task you will finish anyway is free points; a perfection task on a boss you only visit once is not. The wiki keeps a list of tasks sorted by boss, which makes it easy to see how many points a single boss is worth before you commit to learning it, and the in-game interface remembers the last tab you viewed so you can keep a filtered list open between sessions.

Combat Achievements are different from Achievement Diaries. Diaries are area-based and cover skills, quests and exploration, while Combat Achievements only track combat. Both stack nicely, and our Achievement Diary guide shows which diary tiers make bossing easier. Supplies are the other limiter, so a steady income plan from our money making guide helps keep attempts going.

How Rare the Top Tiers Are

The higher tiers are genuinely uncommon. The wiki cites Jagex figures showing that, as of 2 September 2025, only 0.13 percent of players with any Combat Achievement tier had reached Grandmaster, 0.59 percent had reached Master and 2.01 percent had reached Elite. Reaching Elite already puts an account in a small group.

That rarity is why the Master and Grandmaster rewards lean cosmetic and convenience-focused. The real power for most players comes from Hard and Elite, which change how you approach the God Wars Dungeon, Slayer and clue hunting. Treat the top two tiers as long-term goals and set a realistic target such as Elite for the coming months.

Want a Stronger Starting Point?

Many Combat Achievement tasks only open up once your stats and gear can handle the boss. Some players looking for a shortcut browse our Old School RuneScape page, where account listings change daily.

Keep Jagex's stance in mind if you do. Its Rules of RuneScape limit each account to the one person who created it, rule out passing an account to someone else by transfer, loan or sharing, and say Jagex has granted no one permission to sell accounts. Task completions are tied to the account that earned them, and the tiers above are built to be climbed step by step.
