Xenoverse 2 Level 199 Modded Save and the New Cap

For most of Xenoverse 2's life, a Level 199 character was a sure sign of an edited save, because the legitimate cap sat far lower. That changed in July 2026, when the free update that accompanied Future Saga Chapter 4 raised the cap from 180 to 199. A save with all eight characters at Level 199 now matches what a dedicated legitimate player can reach. This guide explains how the cap climbed, what the last levels cost, and where the real differences in a modded save now lie.

How the level cap reached 199

The cap moved in stages over three years. Forum discussions from 2017 and 2018 describe a cap of 99, and it stayed there for a long time. The big October 2023 free update, the one that introduced the Festival of Universes and Cross Versus, announced that the avatar level cap had been removed, and further raises followed with the Future Saga updates.

The figures come from patch coverage by MP1st and from community reports, because Dimps has not always published full patch notes. Reports suggest the cap may have passed through other values between 99 and 140, so treat the table as milestones rather than a complete history.

How the new cap unlocks in game

The 199 cap is not simply switched on. The Chapter 4 update ties it to an in-game event, and the message that appears when you clear it reads: "Now you can raise your level up to 199!" A note underneath adds that all your other avatars can also be raised to 199, even if they have not completed the event. In other words, one character opens the cap for the whole account, which is good news for anyone building more than one Patroller.

What the climb to 199 costs

Experience from quests is one way up, but the alternative leveling system shows the real price. Tosok raises your level for Zeni up to 80 and charges TP Medals for every level after that. Levels 81 to 199 are therefore the most expensive part of the whole climb, and they are paid in the same currency that buys skills, outfits and partner unlocks in the TP Medal Shop. Doing that eight times, once per character slot, is where the hours really pile up.

Players who want to do it legitimately have plenty of help. Several creators published fresh routes after the Chapter 4 update, and our own level up fast guide covers the fundamentals, while the TP Medals farming guide handles the medal side.

Attribute points at Level 199

Every level gives attribute points to spread across health, ki, stamina, basic attacks, strike supers and ki blast supers. A Level 199 character has far more of them than a character at the old cap, which is why stat planning matters more than it used to. Dumping points into everything wastes the advantage; a clear plan tied to the character's role does not. Rah Kage's allocation guide for 199 is a useful starting point, and our build and Super Souls guide covers the rest of the setup.

Level is only part of a character's strength

A higher number on the Patroller card does not settle a fight by itself. Equipment stats are overridden by whatever QQ Bang a character wears, Super Souls add passive effects that can swing a matchup, and the skill set decides what the character can actually do with its stats. Two Level 199 characters can feel completely different because of those three choices. That is why the save's other lines, such as every Super Soul, every skill and QQ Bangs at Level 6 +5, matter as much as the level itself.

Level 199 is legitimate; the added stats are not

This is the part worth understanding before you buy. Because 199 is now the official cap, the level on its own is no longer what sets a modded save apart. The product listing puts all eight CaCs at Level 199 and then adds new stats to the first and second CaC, plus some modded skills including transformations. Those extras are the parts a legitimate Level 199 player could not have. So the six characters without added stats look like any other maxed Patroller, while the first two are the ones to keep for offline play. Our online ban risk guide explains why.

Eight characters at the new cap, with no TP Medals spent on levels 81 to 199, is what the Xenoverse 2 modded save delivers to PS4 and PS5 accounts for $50.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Level 199 the real maximum level in Xenoverse 2?

Yes, as of the Future Saga Chapter 4 update in July 2026, which raised the avatar level cap from 180 to 199. Earlier in the game's life the cap was much lower, which is why 199 used to point to an edited save.

Do I need Future Saga Chapter 4 to reach level 199 legitimately?

The cap rise came through the free update released alongside Chapter 4, and the in-game message ties it to an event. We could not confirm whether that event requires owning the Chapter 4 DLC, so check in game or ask the community if you plan to level legitimately.

Does every character need to unlock the 199 cap separately?

No. The in-game message says that once the event is cleared, all your other avatars can also be raised to 199, even if they have not completed it.

Why does leveling past 80 take so long?

Tosok charges Zeni only up to level 80. Every level after that costs TP Medals, the same currency used in the TP Medal Shop, so the final 119 levels are the slowest part of the climb.

Are all eight characters in the save at Level 199?

Yes, the listing puts all eight CaCs at Level 199. The first and second CaC also have added stats on top, which is the part that goes beyond a legitimate character.
